Excellent review. I got my R12 Nine T about a month ago and completely agree with all of your points. Honestly the best bike I have ever owned....and I've had a few in 45 years of riding!
HI, can i ask you an opinion? i have to take a decision between R12 ninet and R1250R, i love R12 ninet but i can't try it because no one dealer near me ha ve it for a test ride meanwhile, today, i have tried a R1250R: 10 minutes and was has i had it from long time. Aesthetically i prefer R12 ninet but i want to use this bike for free time and summer vacation (10/15 days, from tuscany to dolomites or similar) and i think, for this usage, R1250 will be better..but i can't delete R12 ninet from my mind!!!
@@lore88101 It's a really good question and I understand your dilemma. I think the R1250R will be slightly better overall for touring BUT the R Nine 12 T has more character and, I can honestly say, will make you smile far more often. I cannot over state how amazing this bike is. I've ridden everything over the last 45 years and, genuinely, the R12 Nine T is the best I have ever had. When I ride this bike, I just don't want to stop. It's almost organic.
@@NojslokinMoto great. My doubt is that i can realize that is not comfortable for me just after my first trip..i'm really undecided because i can't try UFFF :(
Had mine a month and I love it. Agree completely with everything you said, looks awesome, great build quality and the ride is fantastic. Shame the British winter is going to spoil things for a while.
That's a great and very fair appraisal for the motorcycle, seems you like it very much,, and the best thing ever is when you can sit and look at your bike ,it makes you smile job done for me ☺️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland
I bought my R nineT in the Spring. I like it very much. Interestingly I also have a Moto Guzzi V7 850. Standing them side by side, it is remarkable how similar are the 2 bikes. When riding the only noticeable difference is that one has 110bhp and the other 65 !. I was going to trade in my Guzzi for the BMW but I like them both so much that I am going to keep the two.
I have a 2024, R12 nine T and have to agree with you on most points. The lack of fuel gauge is big missed opportunity. Where I disagree with you, is over the optional extras, BMW as yet don ‘t seem to have much available. A center stand would be nice as would extra lighting options.
Check with Unit Garage (Italy) on mods. I have bought from them for my 2023 R nineT Scrambler. They have delivered to me in Arizona, USA in less than 1 week.
Great detailed review. Just my opinion but it seems like the price is about $5k too high here in the US. I just can’t see paying $20k for this model so you’re right, a used one might be the better the way to go.
I've owned this bike for several months. It's lovely overall, great torque, very stable at all speeds, tyres good, sounds good when you thrash it, hill start control, heated grips, looks incredible in the flesh. However, there are some cons for me: the main one is the engine breaking (gear ratio) which means that for real world speeds in cities and peri-urban riding it's very hard to ride smoothly (very one/off) as you either stay in first or put it in second and the bike doesn't like being very low in the rev range. All this disappears when you are out on b-roads or faster roads and you can play with the revs. Second, it eats petrol. I"ve never got below 7.3l/100kmh. Lack of fuel gage is also annoying. Personally I don't like BMW's switch gear, as I find that the indicators and horn are too far in town. The steering lock as you say is fiddly and I don't bother with it As a naked obviously it has no protection so sitting at motorway speeds for longer stretches is tiring. Overall, a 9/10.
Nice, but I'm only short and they feel massive when you sit on one. But the price is too high. I'd rather buy an enfield 350 and 650 and have enough money left to insure them, service them and pay for fuel for a couple of months. Yes, the BMW is better, but, realistically, I'd probably only feel the benefits in 5% of my riding. And I'd be more worried about wear, bad weather and theft....
Nice review and bike, however the rocking on start is not unique to the boxer engine and has nothing to do with the opposing pistons. It happens on every bike with a longitudinal engine, i.e. where the crankshaft axis is parallel with the direction of travel. For example, it happens on both my bikes, a BMW R1150R (boxer) and a Triumph Rocket 3 R (inline 3).
Very handsome bike, but...bring the weight down to ca. 180 kg, scrap the electronics (aka rider impairment), redo the motor as an 800 cc, and you might have a bike that could hold on to my featherbed on a twisty road.
I've bought an R12 this summer and am loving it. Something about the little BMW just hits the right spot.

Ah, thanks, really good to hear feedback from owners on here :)

Awesome video! I have been looking at one of these to add to my garage . So approachable . Get on it and ride. Well done ! Best!

Ah, yeah, it's a seriously great bike and you're lucky to own one

A good comprehensive review . My only dislike with the bike is still no fuel gauge
Thanks, yeah, just gotta use the trip metre though eh
I have one and put a Wilber’s rear shock on it, that made a brilliant bike a lot better on British roads.

Its weird the first Nine T models had the option for a centre stand.

Thanks for your nice comments, yeah, the used market of here in the UK has loads of options :)
Sweet bike,✌
Se puede visualizar la temperatura del ambiente en la pantalla?. Gracias y excelente moto

Interesting to hear what you have to say about your bike. I didn't do loads of in and around town cause I just don't like that sort of riding
How tall are you. I am 6’2” and the bike seems too small for me.
6'1, nah, it's perfect for me, I thought it would be too small
I luv the bike, I will give it a try!
If you've not ridden it you need to try it.
They are fine if you are about 5'9". Anything more than that and it gets a bit cramped.
Hmmm; bike was good for me at 6'1 with long arms and legs, definitely need to ride it to see if it fits
I like the Urban G/S better.

To me it looks pimped.

£14k!🤣
