I like the idea that the *Overseer* is something of an ISD-I Retrofit, to bring it in line with ISD-II standards and functions.

Yeah there are 25,000 ISDs, going to be plenty of variations, modifications and revisions. Just look at the differences between the nimitz class carriers, there are about 10 built over several decades and many differences between each. Even the new Queen Elizabeth class carriers, only 2 of them recently built and the second has several deifferences to the first mainly specialisations for amphibious warfare.
The Dauntless is also like that. (It was above Jedda in Rogue One and was in the SWBF2 campaign after refit)
I would love to see a Star Wars movie in this almost realistic CGI animation
I'd call that a Live action-Animation where it looks live action but it's really animation would work perfect.

@@soarDK sadly you're right...considering three.studios worked on this; Motive Studios, EA and even ILM, I wouldn't be surprised if this short cost north of a million.
If you're familiar with World of WarCraft, lately they've moved away from doing highly polished Cgi cinematics, and they mostly release 5 minute animatics now, which in animation are generally the last step of pre-production, before working on the final cinematic. Don't get me wrong, they are still amazing pieces of art, and highly polished....but a full order of magnitude less expensive, even with the voice acting and extra polish that goes into the animatics they release as a finish product over a traditional rough cut animatic

Another detail is the gas coming out of the interceptor wing which from my hypothesis is the gas used to created the blaster bolts for the craft, it is also green which matches the colour of the Empires's standard colour for space combat, i don't know if u can see it in the short but i think he also doesn't fire from that wing anymore after woods

To get into technical detail, the gas leaking out of the TIE/IN wings could show that the laser cannons are not recharged.
I think the pilot who died in the X-wing was part of Vanguard squadron ... it would help build the rivalry of the two squadrons. Both sides lost a pilot to the other squadron. Not sure if we will get another one but I want another one that was super awesome!

If you play as a new squadron member for the new republic side maybe the pilot of the x wing that was chasing the tie interceptor and crashed is the one you will replace.

I was thinking the same thing, it would make sense.
You can also see the ammo regarding on the hud of the tie interceptor and depleting as he uses it.

This happens irl too with mass production; for example, a trained eye can tell what factory a Russian T-34 was built at due to slight differences
The Essential Guide to Warfare looked into the idea of slight structural and performance differences in starship construction, based on where they were built.
Their example was Star Destroyers built at Corellian shipyards. The Corellian shipwrights were renowned for highly efficient engines and hyper drives. Star Destroyers built there, while using Imperial designs, were said to be faster than other Destroyers at both sublight speeds and in hyperspace.

I can see a rebel short being made in response to this. But like we saw in this trailer how the Titan-3 spot opened up for our Imp characters to join Titan, we probably also witnessed how our Rebel characters will be joining the Rebel team as Grey was able to down the Rebel pilot in the end of the short.
The sound design is amazing!
For example, in the space battle you can hear the traditional "spit" of the XWING lasers and the "twang" of the TIE lasers, but when they enter the atmosphere, the sound effects change to become more like mechanical pings and thuds.
Adding the great music, engine sounds, explosions and visuals... It was all excellent!
I love how the Platform-Class space stations are returning! Look at @1:32. That's from the original Tie Fighter game.
Hopefully. Would be great. Even if they would just use the same cinematics and would let us see the same situation just from the X-Wing pilots view.

Would like a New Republic CG short, but not sure it going to happen, because that trailer was made for us to empathize with the Series Main Antagonists. So it's not really that necessary for them to have. But still would like to see one more short.

I would love to fly and fight among falling debris from space above and having to dodge and avoid all of it. And then doing a trench run down in a trench with hills, water, and different things stretching up to make it a challenge to defeat your enemy.

I’m pretty sure that the battle portrayed in the CG short actually does show vanguard squadrons participating because I know the fortnite x squadrons crossover, there is a glider of the x-wing from the short and it’s called vanguard squadron x-wing. And so, like you said how titan 3 was killed and now there’s a new spot. I’m assuming in the campaign for the NR, you take the place from the rebel pilot killed.
Definitely i believe there will be a New Republic CG Short. Right before one week before launching. For the moment we have seen more of the Empire campaign
I don’t think they’ll make another cinematic for the new republic because they stated that it took them many months to complete this project as I believe they started working on it in March so it definitely took a lot of effort to make. I don’t see them having one for the NR.
I like the “crazy cockpit consistency”. Even the ship’s name is in arabesh (I don’t think I spelled it right). Also, we can see the ship’s hull integrity on the ship display.
It’s soo technical, unique and cool.
Since this was made by ILM - the legends themselves - I doubt we get more short Films of this level. I was extremely surprised that we got such an amazing quality film at all.
Cant be cheap to have ILM do this.
The titan 3 detail is something I wouldn’t have notice if you haven’t pointed it out. It’s a really cool yet sad detail.
I remember played sw x wing in 90 s. It was really cool game. As I can see, squadrons is very similar but obviously better. Does anybody did play that x wing at 90?
On the topic of a cinematic for the New Republic, I think it's very possible! I thought of it happening sometime after watching the "Hunted" short.
I would love to see the MC80B "Mon Remonda" type make an appearance in Canon.

That's probably because the short also shows the very reason why your New Republic character joins Vanguard Squadron: the death of the X-Wing pilot of this short.

I'm always surprised when people discuss the ISD 1 and 2 class. If you look at modern warships not all vessels in a class are going to look identical, it's very rare in fact. So that the ISD Overseer is an ISD 1 with the tractor beam targeting array replaced with the communications tower from the ISD 2 actually a pretty realistic upgrade. (And something mentioned in the 2015 book "Ultimate Star Wars"
Just why did the X-Wing so aggressively pursue the Interceptor? The TIE was out of the battle, on retreat, the imperial fleet was defeated. In this case, the rebel was definitely the "bad guy". Nice touch to implement that there are never really good or evil in war, just intentions and emotions.
Perusing a still dangerous combatant and asking them to surrender is in no way mortally equivalent to being a space fascist.
@@owenbevt3 Dangerous? He was in full retreat with his mothership gone and critically damaged. Also, all rebels save for this one sadistic prick had already left the combat zone...
I’m not holding my breath for a New Republic CG short, but I definitely want it. I’m really surprised at the level of promotional material going into this game considering it’s a smaller release in a non-mainstream genre by an industry titan. Gives me hope that they’ll be willing to do more with it post-launch if it does well 🤞

Do interceptors feature inertial dampeners? And are they operational in the gravitational field of a planet? Because without them, no pilot would have survived the g-forces that result from abrupt maneuvers this TIE performs.

If you look closely, the Interceptor has what appears to be specialized armor plating.

About the ISD one that pretends to be a two: iircc in legends a lot of isd ones were refitted to perform like isd two's, so it's possible that Titan Squads flagship is one of those refits
Apparently the Xwing antagonist in this short also broke off from a squad of 5 fighters as noticed able by the scanner so the vanguard could possibly be at this battle seeing how both titan and this mystery New Republic squadron of 5 loses a member

This CG short was based on information on the overseer on Star Wars .com databank. It said it was in a recent battle & the information describes this battle. They could do a rebel side CG short based on the Temperance databank entry.

The bridge discrepancy on the Overseer appears to be because the tractor beam targeting array is in the stowed position, rather than deployed forward as it is usually seen. This is consistent with LEGO's UCS Star Destroyer from last year: ruclips.net/video/_CQ8iYJgrWk/видео.html#t=82s
Initially I thought LEGO had confused it with the ISD II when designing the model, but this CG short appears to confirm it. No, I do think he is mistaken. The ship in the game is definitely an ISD-II, that's how it appears in all other shots.
Oh I agree that the ship we'll see in the main part of the game will be an ISD II, that's what the launch, gameplay trailer and ingame-footage all show. But in the 'Hunted' short, it's an ISD I - the weapons and bridge tower features all align with this, apart from the aforementioned antena, which is easily explained above. Other small details also confirm this - for example, the shield/comm globes are missing the tiny antenas on the upper half and the back of the bridge tower has protruding circular pannels that are only seen on the ISD I.
As has been mentioned in a previous video, we know the Overseer went in for repair and retrofit following the battle, so it makes sense for her to be converted from the ISD I configuration we see here to ISD II.

i think Vanguard was involved in this battle- the X-Wing aggressor that chased the Interceptor could've been from Vanguard. if they make another trailer, then this argument is invalid, but for now

Yep. It’s always funny when people complain about the rebels having plot armor. But when it comes to the antagonists having it, it’s always “skill”. The double standards are hilarious.
@@davidty2006 Ace or not he is in a TIE Interceptor and three hits will kill it. One quad linked shot should have done it. Piss poor firing discipline from the X-Wing pilot.
In the old X-Wing novels, it wasn’t unusual for a X-Wing to score several hits on a TIE, only to fail to destroy it because the shots hit the solar panels instead of a more vital part of the fighter. The old games couldn’t really replicate that kind of situation, which is too bad: as much as I’m unashamedly a Rebel who likes to see TIEs blow up, I’d have fun in a game where hitting a TIE wrong just causes minor damage.
@@erkhyanrafosa4190 That's why you aim for the cockpit. The laser convergence system will automatically toe the laser cannons in to converge at the target range so you can get four hits in the same spot. POP.
The more New Republic we have, the best it can be.
