    • @CLLEON
      @CLLEON Год назад +1

      I always thought Chad had a raw vibe. It almost sounded like he had very little bass in the drumming or Grohl had a better drum kit, I don't know if that makes sense. I'm not a musician but I guess Grohl sounded more refined for the mainstream audience. I prefer Chad.

      @VendPrekmurec 4 года назад +20

      @@andrepereira744 Nirvana released at least 4 singles, many demos with Chad Channing; In Bloom even have had its original video in 1990. Not to mention Lithium, Polly was a well known Nirvana song before Nevermind came out, they were generally performing it in the "electric" version already in 1989. Stay away was called Come and Play, etc... Breed was originally called Imodium, I think that I have even heard Drain you version from 1990 performed by a drummer from the Melvins...Smells like Teen Spirit was originally recorded (but I suspect they were testing that song and Lithium already with Chad too, but Kurt was not "pleased" with his performance). So that means that 1/2 of the tabs for drums in the whole Nevermind album could have been already written by Chad and not Dave Grohl.

      Dave wrote SLTS,Came as you are,Territorial Pissings,Lounge Act,On a Plain,Something in the way and Endless Nameless.

    Chad is my fave drummer for nirvana. I think his creativity on the drum parts are under appreciated. Ive been playing drums for a while, and it's really fun playing the patterns he came up with. Some are quite challenging.

      You do realize that he wrote these drum lines when he was a teenager, right? A drummer doesn't change the drum lines every time they play a song.

    • @465marko

      I think he's intentionally playing it close to the way he used to. And good for him. With some of his fills though, he has evolved - imo, anyway.
      People came to see *him* play - they want to hear the songs the way he used to play them.
      So I know what you mean, but I agree that's it's cool. That's how it should be.

Then he had to watch nirvana become the biggest band in the world at the time and then among the greatest of all time.....still he is alive, healthy and happy, that's what is important one can guess.

    Chris recalled how he felt "like he had just killed someone." When he spoke about how he and kurt told Chad he was no longer in the band. Nirvana needed a more powerful drummer and Chad just wasn't that. That's the sad reality of what happened. Chad recorded and toured with nirvana before nevermind and the phenomenal fame and fortune that followed. He recorded bleach and some singles on Sub Pop and toured the US and then Europe with nirvana sleeping rough and having to endure all the hardships and sacrifices that were involved. It must have been hard for Chad to see Nirvana become the biggest band in the world in their prime. Poor guy. No one could possibly comprehend what that must have felt like. Nirvana was everywhere, on tv, magazines, commercials, newspapers. Nirvana's music was so good it made teenagers like me in some far off country who had no idea of grunge or were not even into rock much draw towards alternative music. To make it worse, Chad was always known and referred to as the nirvana drummer that was replaced and who never got the fame and fortune. Thats like buying a lottery ticket, finding out you won and then losing the ticket. Still seeing Chad is great, he is a great musician and his contribution to music will live on forever.
