Jeremy saves the day ! I'm about to replace swing arm bearings on a 2002 Honda Rancher. I've not done one of these but thanks to you it's gonna be a walk in the park. Yes going to make a tool out of an old 1 1/4 socket also. Thanks so much brother.
I really appreciate the in depth video and adding the ft lbs for tightening down!! Only wish you would have shown how to load the last bearings on the right rear tire but other than that, this video covered it all!!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge this was very helpful. I backed over my chain saw and took out the boot and oil seal. Hopefully this is all I find wrong.
Fantastic Video. It is great the way you explain everything clearly. So many on here throw in useless crap, however your right to the point. The part of the video I am interested in is the removal of the swing arm. I have a 99 Honda Foreman 450 with the MANUAL transmission that is stuck in gear. Need to pop the rear cover to inspect and probably replace a broken Gearshift Master Arm,Spindle Arm or Plate. I am making my own video on finding and fixing that common problem. MAY I PUT A LINK TO YOUR VIDEO in my description as to how to remove and install the Swing Arm Assembly? I am making my own like I mention, however no sense in repeating the process your doing. Thanks for the great instructions, explanation as well as the torque settings.
Is there any place that could give me guidance on replacing that output shaft? Mine snapped clean in half and I want to make the repair myself but I can’t find any videos or guide on how to go about it the most efficient way
Is it necessary to hold the right side bearing nut that is torqued to 7ft.lbs. while torquing the jamnut to 85 ft lbs? I noticed you did not, and I would think it will turn with the jamnut over torquing the bearings. ?
I am just doing swing arm bearings, do you need to disassemble the whole differential or can i juts disconnect the shock and brake and upper swing arm bolts in order to remove?
Have a 2012 hisun massimo utv 500. Having charging issues. Battery is running down while riding. We're would you start. Can't find a good atv mechanic here in ky
A+ Excellent video! i have to do this exact thing to my 05 trx350 4x4. i got it with 28s on it and the whole rear end is destroyed im planning on going back to factory spec size. both swing arm bearings and axle bearings are gone. i dont think the spider ujoint is broken but i might replace that anyways since im in there as well as that first seal you also replaced at the beginning. could you please add to the description section a list of the parts you used or links? that would complete this very helpful instructional video. thanks!!
Good Job Buddy! Thoroughly enjoyed your video. Thanks! I was wondering how much difference there is from this 500 and a 2002 Foreman 450...Would you by chance know? It looks like I may be purchasing a 2002 450 S....Im trying to pick up all the pointers I can get because I dont know what all it was used for or went through since it was uncrated 13 years ago...
I am replacing the swingarm bearings in my honda recon and after installing i noticed that at the housing the gap is different between the right and left side of the frame? Not much but enough to tell, the swingarm is tight and seems to be locked in just wondering if you knew anything about that?
Awesome video! I'm an auto technician but recently got a ATV from my cousin and so i'll be trying my hand at these types of repairs haha. Anyhoot, where do get parts from? I'm sure auto stores can get common things but for vehicle specific parts I'm unsure where to even start looking...
Bud, I'm trying to replace the axle tube bearing and seal. I believe the outside of the old bearing is stuck in the tube. I was wondering if that is the old bearing and has to come out or is it part of the tube? It's stuck in there, ive tapped on it a little but it's not moving. Any suggestions?
ok so i have an 02 foreman 450cc es 4wd amd i gotta nock in the motor. connecting rod im sure and i think i should just buy a new motor instead of rebuildimg cause it will cause 1600 woth everything p and l when i can pay 567hundred for a new motor. should i do this. someone help me out
Yeah. I’ve seen them set up so the U joint knocks against when the suspension is at full sag. Honda’s are legendary for the quality of their engineering and their reliability. Personally I’m not too keen on messing that up.
Hey man so I have a 03 raptor 660 that turns over but won't start without choke then when the choke is on it turns on please help I don't know what the problem is
got a customer who bent his final output shaft because he snapped a u joint. found out i have to pull the whole friggin thing apart to change that shaft unlike some of the newer model foremans. Not me no way. Part it out buddy im not dealing with all the crap you gotta pull apart for what he can afford.

Thank you, this will greatly assist me in an upcoming project.
The”ring gear, and planetary housing”you referred to is actually called the”final drive”assembly!
It’s called a pumpkin there are no planet gears.
For you too, Merry Christmas and happy new year!
shouldnt you drain the check bolt on the rear gearbox with the wheels on and suspention under load?

your 100% right... the U joint angle is too much..
I am just doing swing arm bearings, do you need to disassemble the whole differential or can i juts disconnect the shock and brake and upper swing arm bolts in order to remove?
Anytime your installing bearings you can freeze them for a few hours then install .. They will fall into place without beating them in
Turn a can of compressed air upside down and spray nitrogen right on the bearing.
Where did you order all ur replacements parts? I have the same issue and I also need the output shaft from the motor into the ujoint spider

Great video!! How do you get the oil seal out from shaft against the motor? Thanks

Start at the fuse and work your way back checking the stator, rotor, avr, and wiring harness It’s pretty basic stuff.
Great video for the individual who can.
