⁉️Bunions? Turf Toe? Metatarsalgia? Bunionectomy? If that sounds like you or someone you know (tag them!) listen up to this post!
    .
🔄Toe mobility is so often neglected - especially big toe mobility. You need good big toe mobility to go through a full “gait cycle” and get adequate push off through the toes. If you’re lacking this mobility, your body will cheat and take the path of least resistance, often times compensating elsewhere like through overpronation or not taking full strides.
    .
🤷‍♂️While these compensations may actually be good compensations after an acute injury or surgery, overtime they perpetuate the problem of a lack of big toe mobility as with every step, you’re avoiding putting loads through the big toe! Meaning you get stuck in this vicious cycle of having limited range; and never using the range you have with each step.
    .
2️⃣Check our the 2nd video for a good toe extension mobility exercise. If you lack range - these exercises are going to hurt. Take your time with stretching knowing that a little bit of stretch over a long period of time is going to make your toe a lot more happy than a super intense stretch for 30s.
    .
    😁Happy stretching and strengthening!

Hello there, I fractured my toe a couple of months ago, it’s aligned and healed that way, but it’s still stiff, swollen and I can’t really bend the upper part, I started to walk barefoot at home 2 weeks ago.. do you think I could try to do these exercises right away or wait for the swelling to go down? Thanks a lot!

Hi Ana, generally movement can help in healing but the key is "optimal" load!!!

Hi there, i Fractured my big toe about 5years ago. Never been to any rehab. I'm not able to bend the upper portion of my big toe and its bit curved. From time to time I experience pain. Will i be able to have it function normally again, through rehab,or do i need surgery? Appreciate your feedback.

That's a great question, Ronnie and hard to say exactly without a thorough evaluation but our body can do amazing things and working on some big toe mobility could certainly help! Try some of these out! theprehabguys.com/how-to-rehab-big-toe-pain-2/

    • @ThePrehabGuys

These can certainly play a role! We also recommend checking in with your surgeon as well as a local physical therapist before beginning to be sure that you are in a good place to begin rehab! Rooting for you!

Fractured my big toe 2 years 3months ago… still feels loose & feels like it will shift out of place at any time when I run (it was moving out of place when I fractured it). I’ve just started doing calf raises.

4 years ago my big toe got fractured while playing football, because of a horrible tackle by the opponent. I consulted doctor after one month of injury, the doctor said that the toe was half healed and he made me wear bandages for another 15 days.
I still feel pain while moving my big toe, is there any solution for this pain.
