Don't throw away the gulp with tails eaten off, you can cut them up into small pieces for the sabiki rig for catching bait fish. It also works on a bottom rig when bait fishing. That really maximizes your money when you use a piece cut up from a tail stealer to catch the tail stealers and then use them for bait.

Do you have any pictures or videos on how to do it

I don't have any pics or video. All you would do is use a scissor or knife and cut it to the desired size of bait. For a sabiki rig you can probably cut 1/4 inch size or smaller. You can get quite a lot of little baits out of one of the gulps.

I’ve caught ladyfish no problem on just a bitten off gulp shrimp. Def helps to save whatever is left after if end gets bit off, it works! Perfect for catching bait and smaller fish. Better than just throwing it away.

Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.

Jeff & Kristi . Love your how-to's. I'd like to offer my input of Berkley Gulp. Being part German and mostly Scotch "cheap" is in my DNA! #1. Wait until Dick's has their semi-annual sale. Four bags or one tub are free with rebate. (Well almost, you have to pay tax and postage.) 2. Berkley sells the stink juice in bottles. They call it recharge! 3. This should have been #1 but get a Plano Liqua-Bait bottle. (Plano 465100 Liqua-Bait Bottle And Bait Grabber) It is designed specifically to keep Berkley stink juice in the bottle. Unlike the Plano boxes where you can't adjust the pressure on the gasket, with the bottles you just screw down a little tighter. 4. Buy the bags (you get a lot more baits for the money in the bags!) and dump them in the Plano bottle. Take the baits you are going to use for the day out of the Berkley tubs that always leak and put them in the Plano bottle but save the stink juice. I swear the Berkley tubs leak sitting straight up once the foil is removed. My Plano bottle is over five years old and sitting upside down in my fanny pack it has yet to leak. 5. When finished using a Gulp, put it back in the juice. If you use the Sea Strikers jig heads, it will go on and off at least three and sometimes four times. And finally, 6. When the Gulp seems loose on the barb/hook and keeps sliding down, pull it off the hook out and re-thread it in another part of the Gulp.
As you get older what I am about to say will make a lot more sense. A local fishing the Outer Banks oceanfront told me this over forty years ago. "If the only reason you go fishing is to catch fish, then you missed the entire reason for going fishing."
Keep fishing but never forget why you are fishing and how blessed you are to be able to do it!

Tail bitters are the exact reason why i switched to Z-Man baits and use ProCure gel scent with a #8 or #6 treble hook that I've doctored up with small heat shrink tubing. Majority of the time i can hook the Pufferfish and pin fish giving extra catch or bait.

Great tips! Gulp! is definitely a fish catcher. The problem of tail biters and other small fish tearing the bait apart is annoying. Another option would be to use a Nikko shrimp or minnow. Those things will last a long time. A friend of mine got over 100 saltwater fish (mostly snapper) on a single shrimp down in Florida. I wouldn't expect that to be the norm, but they do last like crazy. I fish them freshwater a lot and have never really worn out a bait. They have scent built into them, too, so you don't need to carry liquids if that's an issue. Another enjoyable video. Thanks.

Throwing away a shrimp with a bit off tail is not a pro tip. It's silly and a total waste.
In some parts of the country, first thing we do is cut the tail off the gulp shrimp and rig it "backwards". After all, fleeing shrimp often shoot backwards. If you do this, the head and little antennae will be forward, like a natural shrimp.
