    In this video I demonstrate how to install 18650 battery and battery holder to Lily-Go T-Deck. This case can take three 18650 batteries if you have a holder that can fit in the RandomAlleyCat "fat" caseback.

    Kapton tape is gonna be your best friend when doing this kind of install. Great video. Thanks for putting out this kind of comment for folks. 🤙🏾

      @@TechAirSpace it's super helpful. I've even used it on my print bed when I had problems with adhesion. 🤙🏾

      @TechAirSpace  5 месяцев назад +1

      How do you use it on the print bed? The glossy side without glue works as an adhesive?

    • @TheGeekiestGuy
      @TheGeekiestGuy 5 месяцев назад +1

      @TechAirSpace yep. It's mostly used for filaments that would rather stick to the air than the print bed. I've used more glue sticks than anything else, but Kapton is what I use for the prints that don't wanna stick. I'll try and do a short on it when I get more filament that needs Kapton. It's great since it has such a high temp range.

    I think I will just use 3 18650s hot glued down. My cells are the bare type with welded on tabs. at 3aH a pop so 9 total it should last a week :)

    Given it's large flat surface, it would make sense to install a 2W solar panel on the back. In some critical situations it might be a life saver.

      It would actually be fun to add a small solar panel to the back. I might try that. Thanks.

    Clever housing, I regret not getting a 3D print that could fit 18650 cells. However the T-Deck is thirsty, one cell will give you 12 hours. you could fit 3 or 4 cells in there if soldering up a pack and not use a battery holder?

    • @TechAirSpace
      @TechAirSpace  5 месяцев назад +1

      This caseback can fit a 3 cell battery holder but I ran out of them. I ordered more from Aliexpress but they will take 2-3 weeks to arrive. I'm running with this 1 cell setup in the meantime :)

      I'm getting some weird old "ghost" messages with T-Deck. Every time my rooftop node is powered on the T-Deck sends one ghost message (always the same one) to the mesh. Sometimes it displays the same message on T-Deck screen as a received message. Have you had this issue?

      I heard that T-Deck software is a mess but don't have enough experience with mine yet to confirm that.@@TechAirSpace

      @@TechAirSpace I'm currently on firmware 2.3.2 and I have other issues, random reboots and trying to set the mutiplication factor, to get a correct battery reading, made it go into a reboot loop? I think the truth is, Meshtastic is buggy and we suddenly get weird new behaviours with each update.

      ah you are living on the edge with alpha FW. Anything new and interesting in the 2.3.x?@@Tore_Lund

    Do I need to consider anything with the 1x 18650 or the 3x 18650 version? Like a BMS board or something? Which leads me to the second question, can the batteries be charged inside the device (I don't have a T-deck yet), so via USB, or do the batteries need to be removed for charging? Thanks.

      @@TechAirSpace How long does it take to fully re-charge the 18650 battery inside? Do you need to turn off the T-Deck while re-charging? Thanks!

    • @TechAirSpace
      @TechAirSpace  4 месяца назад +1

      @@NL-gn2dl You can have the t-deck powered on when recharging. I'm not sure how long it takes to charge from empty to full but I will test it for you. I'll drain the battery and let you know when I have recharged it.

      @@TechAirSpace I tested it too. It was recharging faster when it was turned off.

      With a USB-C cable. There is a port in the bottom of the device.
