I'm working towards content creation on YT. I am developing the basis for that and my own personal brand within my channel. I am also considering how to build a business out of my channel when the time is right. Studying this platform is how I found you, Benji, and many others. I appreciate your content very much and plan to put many of your tips into action in the near future! xo
You helped me overcome my fear!! I just wanted to express the gratitude I have for your content. You’re enabling people to create ! If you are thinking about starting a RUclips channel just set a goal on paper and work towards it bit by bit every day! First video is up because of you guys ❤️
Awesome tips thanks. Have only just started our RUclips journey and really struggle with outside shots. Looking forward to my next outside shoot now. You are always such a confidence boost Sean
Your channel was my inspiration .. Can you please make a video about what happened to Think Media Views and comments as they are not enough like they were before.
All your vids are informative and useful. We are a retired couple just trying to put some entertaining cruising ( small boat) videos on RUclips. We are getting lots of tips from your vlogs and are almost ready to put our first vlog up. Thanks again. Bob and Sue
Loved this video Sean, I mostly shoot indoors but I am thinking of adding more variety to the videos by introducing more external content. These tips will be useful for sure. Keep crushin!
Nolan Molt So I find that tip number 2 doesn’t work for me because I’m black lol..so when I film in the shade, I come out super dark on camera while the water in the background looks great...what should I do?! Thank you for the video😊
Sunshine Sonja Hey! Try adding additional light in the shade. You can buy a cheap light to attach above your camera (like the one Sean shows) and use just a little bit of light to brighten things up!!
I subscribe to your channel because I believe I learn a lot from you. Honestly, you are my inspiration in making my videos and I hope in the proper time I will be very proud of my craft. I know I just started recently, I need to learn more. Hope you will notice me. I am just an ordinary vlogger that supports you and learn from your teachings. More Power!
Thanks for this video. My channel is all about 4x4 off roading and upgrades on vehicles for off roading and we shoot outside a lot. My channel is growing every day thanks to your tips! Direct sun is sometimes unavoidable for me but this helps me a lot
Hey Sean!! Another great video as usual....I I usually try to have an enjoyable time when I'm outside shooting with my camera, I savor what I'm doing and it appears to show in my final shots. I also believe that it is reflected in my subjects facial expressions. I particularly like to see this in the eyes (The windows of the expressive soul.)
I am new at youtube and you helped alot with my start so i wanted to say thank you!! I posted my first video two days ago and i cant wait to see where this goes. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!
Dude your videos are very helpful for someone like me who really want to level up the video quality. I want to thank you for choosing me right camera and lens. Cant wait to see you 1M sub. God bless.
In the line of work that I do (Real Estate Photography) I have to have a Circular polarizer for my lens to help with glare on the windows and on the floors in the house. Simple inexpensive item that helps me out a lot. Helps with breaking through the UV rays as well to make the sky's pop with a little more blue.
Over cast shot looks great! So awesome meeting you at the Seattle workshop! Thank you for taking the time to listen to everything I was thinking with the channel after! Started implementing them! Value value value!! Batch producing things right now including a review on your book with Nikki (took a break to see the vid)! Just got the M50 and a ND 2,4, &8 filter in addition to CPL too so good!!
Sean this video is awesome. I make outdoor interview videos for my church and I have come across every single thing you mentioned in this video, and now you've showed me better ways for problems I find along the way. Sadly, tip #4 cannot be implemented due to the fact that the only time I can make the videos is around midday. Thanks for the vid!
Really great video, Sean! Excellent, practical tips. Even for somebody with a little experience, it’s good to be reminded how useful a refresher on some basic photo principles help with video! THANKS!
You have a great channel. It's one of the reasons I bought an M50. Thanks for the tips. I am planning on shooting professional videos with this camera. Still learning
These are helpful tips and many are inexpensive (or free) too. I wonder if you might add to them the option to turn down the contrast and brightness on your camera to give you that more flat profile and greater dynamic range?
Now that was a very helpful video! Our type of videos don't require it, as they're supposed to be 'direct', 'on the fly', whatever you want to call it, but this was definitely interesting! Liked!
Could you make a video on using g a shotgun mic in a noisy area and how to get the best results for hearing just one person above the background noise?
I have an Iphone XR, moment lens, a Hoya NXT Plus CPL Filter and a Hoya NXT HMC-UV Filter. I am shooting a ton of video with my XR. My 2 questions are....1) Is it worth always having the UV filter on as a source of "lens protection"? Since it's a good one, I assume my video will be compromised very little. Thoughts? 2) Should I use both filters together when shooting outside in bright conditions? I assume the UV goes on first, and then the CPL. Your insight is much appreciated. -Bob
Sean - I'm pumped up, super-charged and ready to start crushing it - PLUS, I subscribed to Nolan's channel - my tip for shooting outside: Wear appropriate clothing, because weather ain't what it used to be.......:-)
ThreeFreeTrees there’s so many great ones out there! I personally have an electronic one. So great for pan shots and just moving through spaces. zhyian M Crane. I do cinematic travel and lifestyle videos in my channel and I tend to use my stabilizer for when I’m moving throgh areas I want to highlight like ( Porto Rico beach) or if I’m following a person. Smooths things out really well
Although I shot with my smart phones but my friends have told me that the work was awesome, most important thing that i try to catch is a brilliant spot as discussed so that there is no distraction or something, another thing is catching every random shots because sometimes one of those random shots becomes part of my original video and its awesome. For mobile user, stay calm so that your picture won't be shaky, another thing for is try to catch some picture through an angle means not like exactly in front of the face just on a little side or so. Since i'm a beginner so I noticed these things, If you have anything else plz do tell me.
Great content, golden tips! I'm starting my YT channel soon and your videos have been so helpful! I'd love to see some unique tips on how to record with the iPhone, mics and other accessories one can't do without and so on. From your #1 fan in Brazil ;)
Can I ask you a question? I’ve been contacted by companies wanting me to try out products and do reviews on my channel and on Amazon. They ask for links to PayPal, so my question is this...is this something that’s ok and how do I link the account so they can put money in my account so I can buy the products? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Yes, the shot @ 6:00 looks great, very cinematic. Also, love the real-time color temperature demo @ 7:00. That was very helpful.

These are helpful tips and many are inexpensive (or free) too. I wonder if you might add to them the option to turn down the contrast and brightness on your camera to give you that more flat profile and greater dynamic range?
Paul Lucas I believe by putting on a ND filter that will naturally give you that range!
The shot around 6 minuets was definitely my favorite!!
You are such an inspiration. 😊Thank you!

What's a GREAT editing software that you recommend for beginner's with the filter option that you mention?
Nice filmmaking tip!
Can you do a comparison of different methods to stabilize and what they're used for?
ThreeFreeTrees there’s so many great ones out there! I personally have an electronic one. So great for pan shots and just moving through spaces. zhyian M Crane. I do cinematic travel and lifestyle videos in my channel and I tend to use my stabilizer for when I’m moving throgh areas I want to highlight like ( Porto Rico beach) or if I’m following a person. Just wondering what you would suggest to mask wrinkles for people who are older than you?
love it.
can a polariser substitute for an ND filter, or do you need both on when filming in sunny weather?
