I got the DJI osmo action 1 3 years back.
It has a great image, great stabilisation and good audio. Which for me has proven crucial. I paid £180 used and it’s still in constant use.
I just went through this actually with the action cameras from DJI.
Less than a month ago I bought the Action 3 based on price figuring it wasn’t much different than the Action 4. Well when I got it…the first problem was the poor dynamic range. Most of my shooting is on walking trails where there is so much variance in lighting. Even with HDR I still didn’t like the quality and I didn’t want to spend unnecessary time in post fixing it.
Luckily I had time to test for a few days…send it back and get the Action 4. I am absolutely THRILLED with it.
Another great video. I like the way your seamless narration is done in various places. Starting off in that room was brilliant. The other clips during that narration makes your videos very interesting and allows you to creatively shoot other things besides what you’re discussing and include them.

10 bit colour depth, log profiles (real log not like GoPro flat) and good low light are must haves. Dual card slots, shutter angle not speed are also kinda important, to me at least.

I've learned a lot today watching your videos. They are so clear & well-organized. Thank you so much!! In the past I used my DJI Osmo Action 1 to do spontaneous street interviews. Wanted to upgrade and add wireless mic capabilities. Would the Pocket 3 be great for street interviews and work well with the DJI Mic 2 or would I be fine with the set up it comes with? Also, would my IPhone 15 on the Osmo Mobile 6 with wireless mic be just as good? Thank you.

The Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo would be a really good option, especially if you got a second DJI Mic 2 transmitter as you can connect two them at the same time via Bluetooth, no receiver needed.
If you'd be using the iPhone 15's rear camera then it would be ok, but I don't think the quality of the front-facing camera matches up to the Pocket 3. Overall, I think the Pocket 3 would be less hassle than a phone and a gimbal if you have the budget, otherwise if you don't have the budget for the Pocket 3 then a phone and gimbal will do fine.
@@TamaraGabrielUK Thanks very much, Tamara. I do have the budget to upgrade as I am selling my barely used Canon G7X ii on ebay, as it lacks the mic simplicity I need. Also, it's always nice to have my iPhone handy for texts/calls/internet while out on the streets rather than on the gimbal! 😊
What do you think about the importance of sound in a video? When I think of the beeping at the beginning of your video, I think good sound is more important than the footage. Could you make a video about sound?
I’m slowly committing to DJI for all my cameras; I’ll probably get their next action camera this summer to round out the collection.

I am considering buying a camera, I love the Osmo Pocket 3, for the ease, look, quality, etc. but the content I want to make combines vlogs with shots of the bike on my adventures. I’d probably go with the Action 4 as the Pocket 3 might be a bit fragile for your bike rides.
For good audio you can connect the dji mic 2 to your dji action 4 via Bluetooth.

I’d probably go for the Action 4 as it’s more rugged and also waterproof so it makes it a good all-rounder for family travels.

I started a podcast currently using 3 old Galaxy S21 phones. (They film in 4k) I have a Sony A7iv but i only have 1 and I can't afford 3 more. I want to upgrade, but trying to find something with a 10-bit color, ibis and films in 4k at an economical price is a struggle.
Why would you need any of those specs for a podcast?

The Action 4 would give you the widest field of view for the interiors, but the Pocket 3 will do better in terms of image quality as the inrteriors won't be so bright. I'd probably go with the Pocket 3 as an all-rounder.
Your video definitely helped ! I am on the side of least hassle and set up, I want something that I can bring around with me, record traveling trips or random hang outs with my friends but im also too lazy to have to learn footage editing. One question I was curious was how do people record day long things when cameras last a couple hours? Do you just bring multiple batteries? I was looking at an action camera like the DJi Osmo action 4 based off your other video. What do you think? Is the action 4's stock microphone decent enough for casual use?
Yeah the Action 4 is great. For all day filming swapping batteries is the way. The Adventure Combo will be a good option in that respect. The audio from the on-board mics is really good too, it’s just when it’s windy that you’d probably want an external mic, but that’s the same with any camera. Or you could stick some Rycote wind jammers on the mics if you don’t want to use an external mic.

Hi Tamara, your all videos shot on DJI Osmo Pocket 3 are amazing and besides that, very stable and without any blurry images.
Me, in order to be able to have no blurry images on my videos, i need to shot at 4k60p and in post 4k60p as well (final video), if i convert to 30p there will be blurry images. Help me please, to understand and to get nice and clear images. Thank you for your respond!

I've always been a stills nerd, but I've had to get into video recently for band social media. My Fuji X-T4 seems to work great on a tripod in dark rehearsal rooms, but I'd like to gig-vlog some of the festivals we're playing at over the summer. The pocket 3 looks amazing for functionality, but a bit dodgy for durability. For around the same money it seems I could pick up the Action 4 adventure pack, the Mic 2 and the iSteady 4 gimbal... It's tricky to choose. Outright IQ and ease of use over build quality?
If you’re going to be filming in dark/low light environments I’d go with the Pocket 3.
Would the Osmo 3, be good for a vlogger that do mostly shopping vlog . Hands free would be great for me..
Yeah it’s a great vlogging camera. If you want to go hands free you’d need a backpack clip and a few other accessories. Otherwise you could get an Action 4 with a magnetic chest mount.

I'm in kind of an awkward spot where I really want to vlog my landscape photography trips and hikes but I also really want to shoot cinematic video like some Instagram shorts with cool transitions and music ect. I'd love to have an fx3 since I already have Sony lenses and I thin the action 4 would best suit my hiking trips. I kinda prefer the infinite focus look anyways if I'm in beautiful landscapes. Sigh..

Hi 👋🏾 I’d recommend the Pocket 3 if you want the best stabilisation, otherwise an action camera if you want something more rugged.
Do you script your videos? I saw you carry a paper and was wondering how you improved your delivery over time, with a script I tend to feel stiff and robotic but without it, things don't come out so smooth.
Yeah, I have a script that I refer to. When I vlog, I don't memorise things word-for-word I just read each paragraph to get the gist and then relay it as though someone just asked me a question.
Im confused to get dji action 4 now or wait for action 5 and my content will be vlogs as Egyptian lives in London

Pocket 3 in combination with Action 4 is incredible. You can use the same color grade across the timeline as the color science is similar. (I use filmconvert on top of the normal 10-bit color profile). And you can also use the DJI mic 2 on both. Using the P3 when walking around and in dark rides, and the action 4 in the coasters. Also, i record in 4K but deliver to RUclips in 1440P so I can still zoom in digitally in davincj resolve without quality loss.
I have a Sony ZV-E10 with a Sony 10-18mm f4 lens, but after seeing Pocket 3 I am thinking of selling my camera. Do you advise me to do that, or is the quality of my camera with the lens better?

Would you recommend a Sony zv e10 for a vlogging and everyday camera or the DJI pocket 3 ?
I was heart set on the Sony zv e10 but after finding out the price for the lence I would need I’ve been looking at the DJI pocket 3 please help
In terms of what's easier and less hassle to use for on-the-go vlogs, my preference between those two cameras is the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. If you're going to be walking and talking, the electronic image stabilisation of the ZV-E10 can't compete with the Osmo Pocket 3's gimbal. However, if you want to be able to change focal lengths and have that flexibility, then I would go for the ZV-E10. But at the end of the day, it really depends on what you want from a camera and what features are more important to you and what are deal-breakers.

I think my gut is telling me to go for the DJI and then maybe later on after having a play around with it, maybe getting the Sony zv e10 for maybe seated talking head videos ect.

I think the biggest downfall to the sony over the DJI pocket is the crop in on the face and I know you can get differnt lenses to sort that out but then that’s extra money.
So if I was to get a second camera for talking head videos, as I 100% think I’m going to get the pocket 3.

As I mentioned in the video, it depends what is important to you in a camera and what your budget is. There are a lot of great cameras around right now, so you have to ask yourself those questions and shop around.
Hi Tamara, we are an older couple, I am retiring soon and we plan to travel a lot and post pictures & video to Instagram. We would like high quality footage of our travels and would like auto everything because we don't want to figure out settings. I was considering the Osmo Pocket 3 because it's small and something we can hopefully connect to a cross body bag. Is there a camera that you would recommend?
Honestly, the Osmo Pocket 3 would probably be your best bet. No faffing, shoots brilliant footage in auto settings, the battery life is great, and you have the option for vertical filming too. It'd be a great choice.

I’ve used it indoors and it does a good job. You still need good lighting though, as with any camera.

I use my A7s III when I'm filming in my studio as it's all rigged up or if I'm on a client shoot, but for vlogging out and about I use my Osmo Pocket 3 or Osmo Action 4 now.

I would say you'd be better off with a "proper" camera (mirrorless) rather than an action camera if you want the clearest image.
