You’ve added a whole other dimension to the walk and talk videos. I normally don’t enjoy them as most folks are too self indulgent and make it all about them, and not the viewer. (Look at me and all this cool stuff I do.) But you spoke to me and inspired me. And totally relate to the Netflix analogy. I sometimes feel that about RUclips as well. All this content and nothing to watch. Love what you do Tamara!
THIS vlog looks so good. Can I add one? I found you when researching some Osmo cameras. People found me because of Fujifilm. Sadly, showcasing products will bring more eyes than our “amazing” lives. 😂
That tiny camera is giving this QUALITY?!! I need it asap 👏🏾This entire video was a beautiful example of how a vlog can add value. Thanks so much for sharing your tips 🌹
Would you consider shooting a vlog in 4K 60fps? A lot of people think it looks good, sort of 'more real'. It would be neat to see what people think. I generally like 60fps when I watch videos on RUclips.
Your content is very helpful. As soon as I got the Osmo Pocket 3 I found your video and like others I have so much gear. This makes it so much easier and and I purchased your excellent luts. I just uploaded my first video in months and now you have encouraged me to just vlog and share my opinions. Thanks so much for all you do, you never know how your channel impacts people that you may never meet.
You're absolutely one of my favorite channels of recent. I've been a creator for a really long time, producing for brands and coming back to this platform for my own channel has got me exploring new creators and i'm so impressed with what everyone is putting out and YOU are absolutely one of my favorites. Please keep going!
Simplicity is key, want to reserve your energy for the creative process and less on the technical parts. Love your approach to content with a focus on providing value.
8min 30sec. I 100% agree and can highly back this point Tamara. Ref Camera gear, I’ve owned all the Sony cameras up to a7iv and they are amazing but lately I completely downsized for a project. As deciding on what lens etc to use and everything else was getting in the way. The footage may not look as cinematic etc as the camera niche on RUclips but from moving down to a smaller camera system (action 4 & pocket 3) the process of creation became less stressful. The current series has brought on nearly 1K in subscribers to my channel niche since it launched about 1.5 weeks ago. This is huge for my channel niche. Learned everything I needed to know in regard to the action 4 & pocket 3 here. So thanks for the advice Tamara. Best place to learn
Thanks so much for saying. Yeah, it’s crazy how much gear can hold us back until we simplify it. I absolutely love my Sony cameras, the A7s III is a dream but it’s heavy when you add a decent lenses and stabilisation is no where near as good as action cameras and the Pocket 3. So for RUclips, those little cameras are the perfect pair, for client work that’s where I break out the pro gear.
@@TamaraGabrielUK yes I totally agree and for more advanced/paid projects 100% the Sonys are the tools to use etc. I just wanted to give some confidence to the viewers you have that are just starting out on the platform and potentially get anxious in regard to equipment. As the “learning RUclips/film making “ niche can lead to some expensive decisions 😅. I’ll say it again your advice on the action 4 and pocket 3 is what lead me to that brand. Top tutorials and advice in a positive vibe, really helpful.
I could’ve started a decent RUclips channel. I have been a graphic designer for years and have been doing audio recording even before that… but I’m way too tired…lol! I can’t even make it through a 10 min video.
Thanks so much Tamara! My channel is finance/investing focused and I've thought about introducing variety into it aside talking head videos, but struggle with vlogs. These tips are helpful. 😊
My lovely wife who has no interest in any photography calls me ’all the gear, no idea’, just selling lots of old kit so I can just pick up a camera and go. Now use two Action cams and a small mirrorless SLR, and I can find everything in the wardrobe🤣👍great advice. Now I need to improve my vlogging skills.
Great video Tamara! I’ve been planning on putting more focus into my channel again this year and you reminded me of the reason I started making videos: To teach people! Definitely helped recenter my focus amidst all the directions a channel can go
Tamara, I just want to let you know I really love your videos and approach. Incredibly authentic, supportive, vulnerable and valuable. It’s so great to see a realistic assessment of how an average consumer or at least a target consumer for a particular product may actually want to use it, and what results they can expect rather the the pro con type of evaluations that focus on specs and what something doesn’t have. The focus on what something can do is much more inspiring and valuable.
Love your hairstyle and your accent. Also how you say Awsome. How you film just simple and balanced. You pose and you sit at a nice spot is interesting. Also putting text in.
Tbilisi looks stunning! And my goodness your content is top notch. I’ve had a few days off work and have been revisiting all your Pocket 2 videos as I try to learn how to use it. I’m getting there slowly, but really need a better face!
I absolutely love your channel. You teach in utilizing a real world (life) applications. It really hits home and is effective. Don't ever get discouraged. You are meant for this!!! BTW, what brought me to your channel was the DJI content. However, I enjoy all aspects of your videos.
Great channel, gorgeous! There is a generation of potential vloggers on the horizon that i feel will not base content just on what's popular or trendy. But, rather inspirational videos that are RAW and uncut. I dont see the same tired, old, and limited Facebook where you can only color between the lines and rely on feeds to determine whats best for you. I dont see people trying to succeed by reaching the expectations of blue with white or red with white. Nah, I see up close and personal profiles that are colorful and encourage creative freedom. I see MySpace 😂. Illustratively speaking ;)
Your channel is absolutely class, I've watched at least 10 of your videos now. In fact it was you that got us to finally jump off the fence and get the Pocket 3. Thanks, Tamara. 👋
I like your video. You nailed exactly what I tried to find out. I have been stagnated for years just because I did not really know what I wanted to film. I had the idea but not the execution
Wow! I’ve had my channel for 8 years, and it has slowly developed into a ‘Piece to camera’ predictable airing of my views as I walk in the countryside. I’ve only got a few subs (550), and have always put this down to my appealing to an older viewer base. I now… at last…. Realise that I need to work harder and not just rely on my views gelling with other’s views. I must say, I’m an ex Samaritan with lots of experience, and I find that content I create around that and mental health always does well. Thanks, Tamara. Oh! And I think your presentation is so refreshing in a world of screaming, opinionated(me) content.
Milanote sounds useful. My notes are usually scribble on a sheet of paper that looks like hieroglyphs when I come to read it when I’m out shooting content. My B roll is usually something that I shoot separately with a different camera on a Weebill S gimbal, just cos I like it’s weight and feel. (I use a Pocket 3 that would probably do the job just as well) Not much thought goes into my B roll. I just shoot what I think looks appealing. I think I’ve got lazy. Thanks, Tamara.
Thank you for this. I’m 50 years old and have been a journalist for more than 25 years but I’ve learned so much from your channel and some others on RUclips. I bought a Sony ZV-E10 and am finally going to put myself out there this year and give RUclips a go. Thanks again.
Great video Tamara. I really like your style. I like your suggestions around planning - your templates look amazing! - but I wonder how much you can leave open to spontaneous or unexpected action that you incorporate into your vlogs, while at the same time keeping them planned and focussed? This is something I struggle with a bit making videos - keeping the central theme and focus of the video while remaining open to unexpected content that I really want to include! Thanks for creating such a quietly informative channel.
This was great info… not having enough footage happens to me all the time 😢. Actually having a thought out plan prior to my trips will be helpful. I will definitely implement this for the next trip!
Excellent advice - there is now very little barrier to getting excellent sound and video these days. The only thing holding me back from buying a DJ Osmo Pocket 3 is the lack of waterproofing and a replaceable battery. I bought the very first Osmo and inevitably the battery died. Apart from that there seems to be no barrier to making content but, as you say, it needs to be thoroughly planned. There is also timing - I was filming and making films for teachers before RUclips but there was hardly any audience to see them. Building that community is the hardest thing to do especially if it is particularly niche. Milanote looks good - I use Scapple but I'm looking for something more extensible - looks like Milanote could be it.
Yeah, it's definitely a lot easier to get excellent video and audio quality these days without having to spend too much. With the Pocket 3 not being weather-sealed, have you thought about the Action 4? It's a great camera too.
I love your editing and your transitions and I’m so jealous. I’m curious how you did those transitions and what software you use to edit. I like your style.
