In this video, Justin’s bringing you a very special episode of Hot Lap that covers the entire build for Make A Wish and reveal of Matt’s 1983 Foxbody Mustang. Matt's 1983 Foxbody Mustang originally had a wheezy V6 engine so the team at American Muscle decided he needed a brand new Coyote.

This is like "Pimp My Ride", but good.
Ivan Pejic we were going to put a fish tank in the trunk but we held off... 😝 -Justin
@@americanmuscle Yo dawg i heard you like football so we put a football field in your trunk
And actually helps performance
I'm really corny so I love pimp my ride it's hilarious.
Ivan Pejic should be called rice my ride
I mean you gotta think that this thing is almost 1,000 lbs lighter than the car that engine was made to go in. That's pretty insane.
I'd be worried too much power for high schooler. Should have added an air bag to car if they could.
First Name Last Name hey man no problem we all get it but I’ll gladly take that bad boy off your hands for you and give her some real hooning
Not all high school kids are completely irresponsible. I had a heads/cam/nitrous mustang in high school and never wrecked or damaged it in any sense. There are high school kids that drive much better than a lot of people out on the roads. Phones are the problem...
I’m 53 and once and awhile I meet young kids like you were (or are), nice to see. Refreshing to see a new generation of car enthusiasts.
@Reaper5.56 Xx I knew a select group of great drivers at my high school, everyone crashes, don't act like only teenagers are wrapping their cars around polls...
You guys ROCK! However, you missed a golden opportunity to mention that the car received a “transplant” much like he did. Still, this is one of the coolest things to come out of the Mustang community. Great job to all involved. Wishing that both transplants live a very long life together!
establishedin1969 How did they miss this. How.
I thought it would be in bad taste TBH. -Justin
No, bad taste is right.
2:30. He did say that, but not to the owner.
He actually crashed this car a couple weeks after and is brain dead
Make a Wish is awesome. Our son got a wish years ago and they sent our family of 7 to Disney World for a week, all expenses, all parks, express passes, rental car. They thought of everything down to making sure our rental car included the extra fees for car seats since we didn't travel with them. They are amazing!
not only does this kid get a new heart from another teen that had to pass but gets a hand-built fox body mustang. Id say this kid is lucky!
He wrecked the car 335 miles on it a guy I buy used Mustang parts has it parting it out as we speak! To much for a 17 year old kid he probably hasn't been driving that long should built a 331,or 347 in put in the car it's in Colora Maryland go on Facebook search Mike's Ford Part's Colora, Maryland in u will see the car the ass end is all twisted up!
Ford guys know how much money and hard work it takes to Coyote swap, AmericanMuscle makes it looks easy 👍
Haha, the wonders of editing! It was certainly a challenging build to say the least- thanks for watching. -Justin
yes especially when its already wrecked 😭more sad about the coyote then the four eyes but thats just me lol hopefully the kids okay but that was a BAD idea, most guys with experience could barely handle that car
Brian Desjardins sad just sad 😔
Still put a stone age fixed read end in it lol
heater core "because fox body" lol that was hilarious but true.. lol
erik hoover I was cracking up xD
Every Ford I've had until 2014 has needed a heater core.
First upgrade on Fox body build, bypass heater core at firewall. Hahaha!
Wow. I just bought an 86 without AC and didn’t know it was a Foxbody thing lol.
LMAO
The car looks great. The only thing that the mustang is missing are the 5.O side badges, but otherwise awesome.
Sleeper lol
Badge ? BADGE ? i - Don,t - Need No - Stinking Badge !
Make it a sleeper man
Matthew Califana 😂😂😂
Iron5oh oh yeah definitely sounds like a sleeper... Lol
I lost my little brother to cancer in 03. We were restoring a 66 coupe. They helped us out with new quarters and a new exhaust system. He passed away a few months later, and unfortunately the car was stolen while in storage. Kid never got to drive it. His headstone has a 66 mustang on it. Always in my heart Chris...
3:00 "We have a bunch of room for activities!" Perfect reference lol
388 to the wheel on a light foxbody. Oh dang that must be stupid crazy fast
A+ on this build and vid guys.
That is awesome! Kudos to all that helped with that build for him.
That’s awesome! You guys did a great job.
Was actually my first car..bought it as a 17 year old in late 90s.
This is awesome. Not just the Coyote into a Fox Body, but the fact that it's for an amazing kid that deserves a bit of good luck in his life. I am a cancer survivor from the age of 16, so I understand how much it hurts to have bad luck, and for an awesome show like this to help this kid in his time of need is awesome.
Way more than a swap... this is a transformation. Awesome build.
I can already tell this kid is gonna get into so much trouble with this car... I know I sure as hell would.. Great vid guys. Well done
I know I would as well, this car is easily my top 5 sleeper cars, I always wanted to get a fox body mustang (preferably a 93-ish body) with a powerful v8, not an LS, I would most likely put something least expected but still a v8
And he has since put it in a ditch and totaled it ..
foxbody is there any other info on that. I came looking lol
foxbody nice name btw 😂😂 that’s mine on a few other platforms lmaoooo
@@Themw3noobkiller thanks haha.. had it since the inception of youtube .. .. no other information on the car... just insurance auction pictures
And this car has already been destroyed! I watched it go through the salvage auction!!
Was just going to say the same thing. Too much power for that age. Did the same thing when I was 16 with a 450hp stroker in a 79 z28. Way to much power. Rolled it 7 times at 112 mph
@@gabeackerman4964 Yuuuuuuup. I wrapped an '87 IROC-Z with a built TPI motor around a utility pole one foggy night, at the age of 19 years old. Ugh.
Damn that’s a shame it was a sick car

Love what you did with the fox! You should check out my 93 cobra with 650 hp !
That was so awesome of you guys!!!!!!!!
Very simple, clean, sharp aesthetic!
That fox body turned out sick! GREAT JOB!!
If you thumb this down, you're already dead. Great job AM!
This car was wrecked & @ a salvage auction last week 8/30/19 hit hard in the right rear
george anders Mike’s ford parts on fb is stripping it
Yeah Mike got that 1 good money for that car 335 miles on it dam shame whole ass end is twisted up bad!
Terrific video! I was at the show and was moved by AM’s efforts for Make a Wish. This behind-the-scenes video really rounds out the story. Thanks for the build video and thanks to the whole AM staff for putting some smile on a lot of people’s faces!
Thank YOU Mike for coming out to the show and for the kind words. Its our pleasure! -Justin
The kid just went through a heart transplant. And you're going to give him something that accelerates his heart rate. You guys got some Geniuses up there.
Mega! God Bless and Protect Matt and the American Muscle team and all who put their soul into this build🙌🙏💙
Thanks for watching! -Zach
This video and build was office! It even made me a little teary eyed after seeing the kid reaction after the unveiling. Great job American Muscle!
typo - awesome not office lol
Haha, I was like damn 'office'?! Is that what the kids are saying nowadays? lol Glad you liked it sir and thanks for the kind words! -Justin
@@americanmuscle it's sad that hes brain dead now too
Keep that Mustang kid! Don't ever get rid of it!
Project make a Fox looks like a total success 😍🙌🏽
jmasterlink13 I like that! -Justin
Hope that kid can drive that power. How awesome that would be to get that car. Nice job
GIVING A KID WITH A NEW HEART A HIGH HP MUSTANG HAHAHAH anyone else see the irony in this
mike dotson he wrecked it
I no the guy who has it parting it out right now 335 miles on the car the motor wasn't really even broken all the way in yet !
He wrecked it within a month
Fantastic job.......well done to everyone involved in the build. That's one of the nicest 4-eyed Fox convertibles I've ever seen......and all for a very worthy cause. You guys rock!
Appreciate that very much Paul- it was certainly a joy to see it come together. -Justin
Hands down my favorite video you have put out. Awesome job guys!
Glad to hear Ryan- thanks for the love man! -Justin
Fox bodies tend to be SO underrated. This is an amazing, beautiful car. Great job.
Thanks Mark- and I agree, this build had me scouring my local ads for a clean Fox haha. -Justin
When I started watching this video I was thinking man I wish it was a 86 then bam hit me with the front bumper change. Real nice.
Way to American Muscle for making that young man's dream come true!
"Alright guys so I'm currently holding my member..."
Lmao
Jaime Romero Laughed too damn hard at that.
That was one hell of a transformation, all i can say is......HELL YEAHHHHH 👍🏿
Hell of a sleeper he got. Brings back all kinds of memories
I love the sleeper look no badges just a clean cut fox!
Seeing the charity of those who can give and that such charity is selflessly given to others is a beautiful thing. Good on you guys, and good on your sponsors / partners for this build!
Beautiful foxbody and what a great cause!! Awesome job guys
Amazing job for an amazing cause. You guys are doing great things for very deserving individuals. A thumbs up to those who were involved and put this together and two thumbs up for the smiles and strength of those who have to go through the unforeseen challenges in life.
God Bless you all!
You guys truly truly rock. I am now even more proud to purchase from your website to support you guys for what you did for Matt. And best of wishes to Matt getting another chance at life
I LOVED this! Great kid and you used the right stuff, '85 front, Coyote, black on black..... dayum it turned out great!
my friend couldn't even handle a 120 hp 1994 mercury cougar 3.8L v6 in highschool.... one rainy day racing home from highschool as we often did , we didnt have cell phones so who ever got home to the house phone and called first won ....My friend fishtailed and wrapped a tree ( I also wiped out in snow racing home earlier that year but i only hit a mailbox and i bought them a new one and got the body work done on my T-bird Super Coupe .Since he was smaller and lucky he was not harmed too much other than belt bruising ...they had to cut him out of the car and cut off the roof...
So lets hope this kid has got some strict parents....they really couldn't bare to lose him in a car wreck after getting a second chance with a heart transplant.... But hey...this kid deserves some serious old fashion FUN...and hot rods is they way to go. Even if you are on your 8th life.
That front end looks too clean
good job guys
Matt is going to be one happy dude! WOW! I don't think I have seen a better rebuilt FOX Body...YOU GUYS ROCK!
Awesome swap
Simple and clean! Looks badass! West coast would’ve just added a bright paint and flames on the side lol
To each their own! I can appreciate some nice ghost flames though. 😂 -Zach
AmericanMuscle.com I would too.... back in 2001 😂😉
This is one of the best morph jobs I’ve seen in my long life. This is perfect! And it was palpable the excitement that throttle gave ya.
That g-force has to be as exciting as that new 2020 Gen 2 Corvette at half the price.
I mean this is a radical transformer here!!!!
CONGRATS on a helluva success.
Thank you for the kind words, Robert! I know all the guys here appreciate it a lot! -Zach
bruh im here thinking the before would make me cry. its in great condition!
I know it could have been a collector car but now its ruined with modern junk😢idiots!!!!
That is a sweet ass ride! I would keep a CLOSE EYE on that thing...I bet there are so many thieves drooling over that.
Mad props for being real and owning your mistakes. You guys are legit.
How has this channel not blown up or the videos? This is awesome killer stuff! I would love something like this done to my Firebird! Great stuff yall. Earned a sub!
Thank you for the sub! Everyone here appreciates it! -Zach
That was super nice of you guys for doing that for the young man.. Too bad theres nothing like that around here were I live, I would love to have my dads 97 ford ranger redone that he left me when he passed away...great video keep up the good work....
Good luck Matt. Don't hurt yourself with that beast.
83 Fox body goes from lame to sic!!!!! May both transplants live long!!
Wrecked with 335 miles on the odometer!
“Brand new heater core...because...fox body”. Lol!
If you're not swearing like a sailor working on your car, are you even doing it right?
Nope! Haha -Justin
The amount of time put into the work and production for this is incredible. Job well done.
That mustang is frigging awesome ,great job guys!
Thanks for the love! -Zach
A swap done the right way!
This was so cool to me especially since my dad had a 83 glx that we used to ride around in all the time
"I'm currently holding my member."
Camera man - *Zooms in on crotch*
Months of hard work wrapped up in a 20 minute video. Doing a great thing for another human, during the limited time we are here. Isn't that what life is all about?
Well put, Morgan Freeman! I mean, not Morgan Freeman. 😂 -Zach
He got a new heart and so did his car!!!! Soo cool guys!!
Love what you guys have done. Beautiful Stang.....but dang, that was original.
Unbelievably awesome!!!! I got tear eyed seeing the transformation on this beautiful car! Well deserved for that young kid. Excellent work fellas!! 💪👍✌️
Thanks for the love, Dirty Mike! -Zach
As hard as that work is on the car. It’s nothing compared to going through a heart transplant the rest of your life. That’s rough man. God bless that kid
What a beauty boys!!!!!
this is the nicest foxbody I've ever seen
Carroll Shelby was the longest living heart transplant recipient.
Being stuffed in that engine bay only leads to headaches down the road when you need to fix or replace parts but for now it's badass!
Damn y’all..for starters, kudos. What you’re doing for these kids is awesome. Secondly, hope all is well after his heart transplant and that he can live a happy, healthy life. Third..guys, he made it through a heart transplant! Now you’re trying to kill him with this beast?! Haha this is a sick, sick car. Complete package
I wish my foxbody was remodeled by you guys! I’m a big fan of you guys .
You guys did a great job with that Fox body I know that young man is going to be happy for the rest of his life for what you have given him he has a new lease on life and so does his car
That's the perfect cruiser
Fox body is my favourite next to the eleanor. Beautiful work guys!
Thank you! We appreciate the love! -Zach
I like the work that was done here and for a great cause. But a 17 year old kid with 400hp? It's gonna get wrecked within a few weeks.
tokuzumi1 Don’t be so stereotypical, I got a 99 Cobra built up, Been rowdy in it and have not crashed... it’s been 3 years now, I got it when I was 15...
@@brandonfunaro9364 His is like 1000 pounds lighter, AND 100 more hp.. AND no traction control or airbags..🤷♂️ But yeah, if he isn't entirely stupid, he should still be fine.
@@brandonfunaro9364 congrats on your driving record. You are the 1% of teen drivers. I certainly don't want him to get into any accident, but IIHS data is not in his favor. I hope he's able to enjoy that car responsibly.
Brandon Funaro it was just totaled :/
tokuzumi1 well damn, you predicted the future😂😂.........
This is so amazing, good job guys
My dad used to own that Mustang, same colour but no convertible. I wish he could have kept that so it would be restored and give to me when I'm older.
That's a really nice thing you guys are doing with the make a wish foundation. I had no idea. Right on! 🤙
The reveal is what makes this video awesome! Great work on the car, good choices in parts and it seems Matt is blown away by it too! Very cool video!
I will back Power by the hour. They are the coyote swap gods. My swapped new edge runs all of their brackets
They are a great group and were extremely helpful for sure. -Justin
Great name
Damn that's awesome! I need this so badly in my life. I have such big dreams for my car that I know that I'll never accomplish myself. I'm so happy and yet envious of this guy. Good job A.M
Thanks for watching, Rodney! We're definitely proud of this one. -Zach
Not a convertible guy but man does this look good
I love a cleaned up notch-back, but this 'vert definitely came out sharp looking! -Zach
I really don't like convertible Mustangs, I love this car!!!!
Well done gentlemen!!
Four eye fox body's do look good and thats coming from a camaro guy
That Stang stand like a Police interceptor .
Nice work AM for making this young mans dream come true!!
Such a badass build!
This car is sick. I want to see a follow-up to this video he looks so happy with it as he should.
Those wheels are the best part. Great job!
Makes me want to find a fox body and make a coat. Love this car
Pretty rad.
What an exceptional build, and a great cause!
Beautiful car!!!!! Love that paint!!!!
Hey we do too! -Zach
Greta job guys!
