it's still seems completely insane to me that they can get the drumline so consistent member to member that their stick heights are identical and their playing is so perfectly lined up
Why did they drop Pearl? This tuning is literally the best I've ever heard drums speak.
They were trying to make their own drums for a few years before they actually switched, (To grow the system blue brand) but I remember hearing Pearl wasn't down to make a design for devs so they just went to someone who would (Natal.)

Because they wanted to expand system blue and they couldnt through pearl so they went off with system blue, the pearls did sound good tho 🙏🏻 but their SB battery still sounds really good
Yep, Pearl drums are the best IMO, I think most corps and groups should go back to Pearl.

+William Elias - SCV came in 4th in "percussuon". There's not necessarily a drum award, but yes 4th for Vanguard.

is it just me, or do they have their snares relatively low? it seems like they are just a tad bit lower than other lines
+JD Dunklee They do seem pretty low, but I've been told that it's actually the height that the snares are supposed to be at, less strain or something is the reasoning.

A lot of the simpler attacks really seems dirty to me. In my opinion Vangaurd or Cadets should have won drums.

A lot of bd's difficulty comes from approach. Not necessarily choptastic music, but an intense attention to detail for every single note. That's not saying other lines don't do that, but each has their own style and vibe. 👍🏽
