Excellent performance. Joe Cocker sounds really great singin' this Robert Palmer classic. But I like both versions equally well. Joe Cocker does have a very unique voice. And the guitarist in here has a playin' style similar to Joe Walsh of the Eagles.
Remember, it takes every kind of people to make the world go round. No need to say one is better than the other. Just be happy we have so many great artists to interpret equally great songs.
It takes "Every Kind of Version" of "Every Kind of People" to make the world go round. I think that this version a solid tribute to the memory of its creator.
Yes. This is a live- recording for a German TV show (SAT1) "TARATATA". The "Martin Ernst AllStars" was the house- band for all artists that came without an own band.

@smbschrader - Interestingly, I actually think this is a finer arrangement and portrays a feeling of hope which suits the sentiment of the song lyrics Andy Fraser put together. Of course, Palmer, an artist in my Top Ten of great singers/musicians version was a fine version also.
@smbschrader Yep, Joe had a bad night, and it is such an cringe on my heart, I want him to be for ever happy and great but the the clock never stops ticking and that is an iron rule, we all love him, don't we?
I was actually real disappointed with this version. Maybe a bad day or he is getting old. I love Joe Cocker, but Robert Palmer's version shows so much more range and diversity.

So, 105 people have clicked thumbs up and 1 clicked thumbs down. Would you be the odd one out?
@glabounwy sorry: you are wrong!
There were two German shows in German television and the RTL AllStars played with Joe Cocker and others

Great version but the bass line is no where as good as Bob Babbitt's on the Robert Palmer version.
sorry but Joe murdered this song.Robert Palmer owns this song...he made it his song.
