Robert came to our tiny little Pine Bluff, Arkansas Convention Center when he was bigger than life and absolutely tore the roof off. It was later reported that he was pretty much furious at having to perform there. He didn't get angry and refuse to perform or put on a half-ass show, we got the full experience and out of a sea of concert experiences that always stood out. That is true professionalism.

The Eurythmics played the Christchurch town hall on their Revenge Tour and apparently thought about the same thing. They absolutely smashed it. I think people from "up North" have a very real type of integrity and a determination to give people what they paid for regardless of where they live.

My dad, who leads a healthy lifestyle, suffered a major heart attack in 2012. Looking back to before the event and watching videos/photos of my dad in the weeks and months leading up to it, there was something subtle that was "off" about him. I see the same here very sadly with the highly talented RP, a little detached, puffy and a little distracted....very tragically 2 days later he was gone.

Had the fortunate experience of seeing him live at Massey Hall in Toronto in the '80s and he put on an amazing performance with his band. Just purchased a few of his albums on CD/iTunes recently as they were on cassette tapes which wore out. Absolutely loved the way he dressed too - very classy. You are sorely missed Robert.

I thought i would mention his incredible album Pride is my most loved. It just blows me away! I can tell you are a real fan so i thought i would pass on what a superb album it is. I love it still now just as much as when it came out. Also, a song not everyone knows about. Another artist i listened to in the 80s was Rupert Hine. Robert joined up with him to sing the brilliant Living In Sin. Hope it brings some joy for you.

In 1979, when I was 14 years old, I asked my grandma to buy me an LP. My first music album it was. I must have heard the song that made me want to have this album on the radio. The song that made me a fan forever is "What's It Take", the album "Secrets". I still listen to it, and it is the original record my grandma had bought me. The song has always been my favourite, but I love many of his songs, Sneakin´ Sally Through the Alley, Some Like It Hot (The Power Station), Looking for Clues and more. He died much too early, but his music lives on.🎆

My bro was a DJ (on air name: Steve Cochran - WKTK, WQSR) in Baltimore in the 70s-90s. He was also a promoter for Island Records, and Robert Palmer ended up being one of his greatest cohorts. He interviewed him on the air more times than I can recall. I actually have a poster on my wall of my brother interviewing Robert (the poster was to promote an oldies show my brother used to do from a college station in the 2000s) So I have a great Robert Palmer story for you...
My bro arranged to bring Robert to my mom's house for her famous spaghetti and meatballs. I was invited to the dinner but arrived late. I remember flying through the front door to the sight of Robert Palmer passed out on my mother's living room couch with an empty bottle of wine and glass next to him >.< I can say that no matter what influence Robert was under at any given time he was a gentleman to the end. Just such a truly lovely individual. I can only imagine what he and my brother (who died in 2019) are getting up to right now - they were thick as thieves ;) RIP Robert, RIP Steve 🥰

I feel like in the last decade or less Robert Palmer’s true influence on music and a resurgence of popularity and familiarity and passion for his catalog of music and I think it’s truly beautiful. I didn’t truly grasp his brilliance until a handful of years ago myself, his music is so varied and multifaceted but some of the late 70s tunes turned into what later became staples of “yacht rock” multi-genre smooth rock playlists. However when one boils his essence down he really is an under the radar wonderfully talented songwriter artist singer and performer. *RIP Robert Palmer*
