Robert Palmer, the rock n roll singer who looked like a Wall Street worker. A major talent who's greatly missed.
Not always. Pre-Riptide he sometimes appeared like this: ruclips.net/video/zdPWp_UbOJw/видео.html AND this ruclips.net/video/Hg_nlH5N96k/видео.html
@@johnconway9882 Nah, Palmer looks like a Wall Street guy chilling on the weekend in these.
He was not rock and roll he was R&B
@@bernadettesemple9301 Vinegar Joe and Power Station might disagree.
SIMPLY IRRESISTABLE not blues berney@@bernadettesemple9301
What an absolute gentleman. Absolute class
Gone way before his time. Excellent interview
What a charming man he was, almost shy. Such a contrast to the emotion of his music. Miss him so. 💔
he was an actor.he knew the women fell easyly in love with him and could have any woman
Mim: Im still in love of him.2022.
@@cameliachihaia6502 Your lines? FACT.
"You think I'm cute, a little bit shy
Mama, I ain't that kind of guy" Robert Palmer; 'Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)' song lyrics
Clearly this man was a gentleman. Just beautiful inside & out. 🙏🏽💕
Robert Palmer was an amazing gentleman. He performed with his music simply for the purpose of enjoying the music itself. No funny business, no tricks or gimmicks to his work. Very cool, calm and collected. Any additional stuff was someone else's idea..
He always kind of reminded me of a James Bond of music. Another great artist gone way too soon !!
It sounds like his father really was James Bond!
In my humble opinion one of the coolest and most soulful artists of all time. In 1988 I was 18, he and those "mannequins" made quite the impression...
Miss this incredible talent 2023
He was a gentleman rocker and a musical genius. RIP
Great interview. No mask for Robert, just the genuine honest man.
Most people opened up on this series
I first saw him in the early 80’s as a young teen. I always loved his style and music R.I.P Robert.
Robert Palmer was always my dream man. Classy, elegant, sexy, and incredibly talented. I miss him.. . If only today's performers would dress like he did ~ which showed respect to his audience. And to himself.
Picture him in underwear before an audience like David Bowie live....
I agree. Such an awesome guy. Saw him 3times. Wish it was more. Miss him so much.
Basically the James Bond of Rock ‘N’ Roll
Good point
Lived on an Island . Byran Ferry is KooL too.
Nailed it.
ALWAYS thought that of him, myself and never said it out loud or to anyone - but I think he was and is
I totally agree. Robert Palmer 0 0 7
Very articulate man. I sincerely miss him.
I miss this guy, one of the good humans. Thank you!
Simply Irresistible Robert Palmer.
Such a lovely, thoughtful man. I only wish it had been another interviewer with more interesting questions. RIP Robert Palmer. You are missed.
What a great interview. I see that the term "gentleman" has been mentioned frequently in the comments, but there simply is no other word for the man. Well done and thank you. And if you look for the numerous interviews with the models who appeared in Mr. Palmer's videos, you'll find nothing but appreciation and admiration for his work.
When I grow up I want to be as cool as Robert Palmer.
Funny.... I think RP didn't realize how wonderful and important The Power Station project came out to be. It's one of the best albums of the 80s and that speaks volumes.
I liked that guy. He had style, class and humility.
He delivered cool music.
I wish he had lived linger.
He was not an ego-driven asshole rocksinger, but a sincere writer, singer purformer. He ha so much more to offer.
However , his almost constant smoking would have a major input to his fatal heartattack ....that robbed humanity of the generous creative offerings Mr. ROBERT PALMER STILL HAD TO SHARE. REST in PEACE.
i think he was a 2-3 pack a day guy sure it played a major role
Rest in power, legend 🙏

26 September 2003⚘
Thanks for sharing this. I thought I'd already discovered all the interviews with Robert Palmer, but hadn't seen this. I had the biggest crush on Robert when I was younger, but aside from that his music is brilliant and eclectic, and what I like about this interview is how seriously he took his business of making music.
Same
Perfect interview from a very decent, talented guy
What a treasure! Thank you so much for this. I love Robert Palmer and really enjoy this interview with him! Interesting channel you have.
Thank you kindly
Robert Palmer died from a sudden heart attack in a Paris hotel room on 26 September 2003 at age 54. A quiet man in his personal life, Palmer was uninterested in most of the excesses of the rock 'n' roll lifestyle, although he was a very heavy tobacco user who smoked as many as 60 cigarettes a day.
That’s a good interview. Robert was such a kind true gentleman and outstanding musician. He gave us timeless classics. Despite that I never liked those stupid mannequin videos, the songs are just great. I just wished he would still be around
I Love that Robert is Human and he refers to the cover of 'Get it on bang a gong' in the way he calls the lyrics ridiculous and yet he covers it Astoundingly-Great!! The first time I heard the Power Station was an Era in my life that was Major Exciting and I was enthralled by this work that all the players had formed together. I mean you had the Taylor boys from Duran Duran and Tony Thompson from Chic [Amazing drummer] and ROBERT PALMER!!! How do you beat that??? The first notes played out on the radio, I could never forget! Plus everyone I knew bought the album. Such incredible memories I wouldn't trade for anything, because they are of a time when things were so much Greater!!! There will never be another time like the nineteen-eigthies ever again. So sad to see Robert and Tony go with-in months of each other, due to health issues, in 2003. I am so glad that I got to see Robert Palmer and Duran Duran Live, only wish I could have had the pleasure of taking-in the POWER STATION as well. I did meet Michael DesBarres in L.A., though, one afternoon, as he was enjoying some frozen yogurt, he was pretty cool, I liked meeting him with my friends asking him questions and all. [ ]
Eu curto 70% rock e metal:30% outros estilos.Nossa!!!Gostei d+ desse cara no POWERSTATION...👏👏👏👏👏👏
@@RRForever833 Yeah, yeah, yeah! ROBERT-O Palmer-O Was The suave Man of Rock and he had many different styled musical Albums ALL TALENTED!!! And he was The Man for The POWERSTATION 1 & 2 The Should have Made 3, 4 and 5, 6 & 7 of The POWERSTATION Too. Best to ya...
Thank you for sharing this!! Really good interview and it was nice to hear Robert talk about the power station in depth!
Thank You for posting this, Robert Palmer was one of my favorite artists!
Seemed like a gentleman. Miss him.
Super cool individual that Robert Palmer--playing to an intimate crowd--great!
Serious dude. Consummate artist. RIP
He covered "Sailing Shoes' by Little Feat and had some of those band members record with him. That's how cool R.P. was...
*Robert Palmer’ the consummate icon of a generation that birthed true musical talent & timeless music… that will span the eons of time..! Robert your sorely missed in a world of meaningless garbage that try’s to pass it self off as music..! 🤨 ‘R.I.P’* :: PEACE ::🕊❤️
Thanks a lot for this new interview .I love to watch new video about Robert Palmer.
When I was a teen in the 80's I was all into hair metal (& still am!) But I so appreciate palmer now I wished I'd had more sense back then
I love Palmer and also the likes of Ratt, Dokken.
Robert Palmer was the bomb! He had great songs and was so stylish dapper elegant and refined. He would have made a great James Bond in the 80's. RIP
Definitely
I always liked him. His Little Feat connection gave him extra cred.
Love those two albums
Perfect performance 🎬
Power Station is one of the great albums ever!
Robert palmer is my favorite artist ever
Shame back then there where no 2,3 hours podcasts because this kind of 20min interviews where perfect for it to talk more.
My fav Robert palmer song ever is called Know by now
Mine too!! Loved him
He was so sexy and elegant 🥵❤️
Yes and what's sad is there is no biography on him
No books on him
He's not even in the rock and roll hall of fame 😪
Somehow I missed this back in the day. And I am a lifelong insomniac too! Lol. Thanks for this video, wonderful interview.
Sleep? when. For how long. Sure....
@@ClevelandLiveMusicLast night..or early am about 5 hours maybe!
Two very talented artists, will be missed.
RIP Robert Allen Palmer
RIP Terence Daniel Donovan
F'ing crazy songs like 'sailing shoes'
and 'sneaking Sally through the alley'
along with a bunch of others never hit in America. 'Sally through the alley' is one of the coolest grooves ever recorded. Watch him jam it live
.. There's nobody throwing 'blue eyed soul' like this cat did.
He was a neat, immaculate classy gentleman not to mention sexy !! So handsome and gone too soon. RIP 🙏🏼
Alive or dead one of the sexiest men ever!
This man was a legend. God Rest His Soul.
I love R.P, but I also like the way the interviewer lets R,P talk and answer the questions.
Costas is my favorite
Inspiring interview many many moons ago!
Proper English Gentleman. I like him very much, his music his interviewing skills and whole attitude.
Pure Class...
More Robert Palmer, please
His 20th Anniversary is this month
I wish I could say I can upload more Robert Palmer...
He had a 'posh' northern English accent. Very unusual, but soft, natural and lyrical.
So much better than those standard polished English accents. I HATE those.
Manners maketh the man. I think part of his charm.
A very considered man, when artists were allowed to have opinions.
Love his music.
He really is missed
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He and David Bowie had the best hair in rock music. They were both great performers too. R.I.P. to both.
He was a model and all business. Had that look of "ok fellas lets get this in 1 take, I got a business meeting to go to"
I spent a whole evening waiting on Robert Palmer and his mistress the week he did this interview. Wish I had asked for his autograph. I did tell him I had been a huge fan since Sneakin Sally Thru The Alley. He was The Man.
Hmmmm did you work at Later?
@@ClevelandLiveMusic yeah I don't understand their comment either .
Also the industry tried to destroy him and it's a fact that many people told horrible rumors about him .
He did not have a mistress and was known to be very loyal .
I can't remember what video it was that I found a thread where a woman was talking about how she had spent years amassing information for a book for him and she never did get it published but she explained she got most of her info from a gentleman who had done a lot of research also .
They both spoke of how there was a lot of misinformation about him to paint him as a ladies man and something he was not .
I can't remember all the rumors I think one was also they try to paint him as a cokehead which he was not .
@ClevelandLiveMusic general info on wikipedia states all 4 shows per week, were recorded in one day
Mistress??? He was never married.
Was he?
So smooth even without trying x
NOT false at all x
Pressure Drop album is truly a classic. Little feat’s Lowell and TOP...Good lord
I can only say that pressure drop was so much better than the commercial ones to me personally
@@lisamcmullan6484 Totally agree. The only other albums close to Pressure Drop was “Sneakin Sally…” and “Some People Do What They Like”
Love the “Pressure Drop” album
Yeah sneaking sally was great too
You reminded me, so I just listened to Pressure Drop tonight. Amazing for 1975, huh?
Clevelandlivemusic God bless you for uploading
Well thank you!
I still cant believe hes gone so unexpected
Thanks so much. I woke for work around 5 AM so I missed things like this, although a huge RP supporter since Sneaking Sally. And I had VCR problems.
A bm soundtrack if ever there was one !!!!!!!!
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Cool one , thanks
Thanks for posting!
This interview was aired in June of 1989 as clearly marked at the end when the NBC logo shows up (1989 is when the Simply Irresistible Pepsi commercials aired). You may want to fix the date in the video's description.
He was the main singer in our local band , The Mandrakes from Scarborough, a great Yorkshire lad 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧the 60s a great time
Wowser!
A truly classy man.
RIP Robert 🇬🇧
Love him
Cool interview.
He's constantly playing with his fingers because he's dying for a cigarette.
Heard the heart attack was a result of his heavy smoking.. Joe Cocker was a heavy smoker and died as well. Lisa Stansfield smoked and got off the cigarettes still singing but voice 9:06 not the same regardless of her age. Robert Plant stopped but sounds very much like he did when he was younger...RP RIP! Miss him and his music!
More Robert interviews plz
The Geena Davis SNL where she's one of the bobbing girls in the addicted to love video wondering why they're all bobbing is classic. Like his work ethnic.
Every Kind of People landed him on American Bandstand in the 70s. He had a fabulous career in motion and was already wealthy and living in the Caribbean so let's remember it's all relative. BOTH the cover of Cherelle and the video were tongue in cheek and meant to intrigue, not to degrade anyone or anything.
He lived in the Caribbean at island studios as a guest of Chris Blackwell as he liked him but his albums were poor sellers..
When he talked about the song I didn't mean to turn you on, he mentioned that song was originally by a girl, her name is cherrelle Her original version came out in 1984
Can you please post more Robert palmer interviews
Please
As I find them how it works is I digitize whole tapes and go from there....if I see some will grab that tape
Thanks can't wait 😊
@clevelandlivemusic thank you and God bless. It's very important work. What you post is all we have left of him.
Hope you post what you have left
RIP Legend
Mahtava artisti, muusta en voi sanoa ku n en henkilökohtasesti saanu tutustuu ...mutta vaikuttaa hyvin älykkäältä ja jalat maassa ihmiseltä ja komeakin on mut hänen musiikki elää tooooosii pitkälle ajassa.....😍
Just a class act going back to Vinegar Joe, he left us too soon
RIP Robert
Robert Palmer and Bob Costas look like twins 😂😂.
elegant cool cat
❤😢
Good interview... That set is so over-decorated. The date of the transmission is 6/9/88, the first year of production, not 6/19/89, as the details say. I'll look out for more vids
💙
Anymore Robert palmer interviews ?
Robert had real talent, that's undeniable, but certain people are earmarked for success and placed in the public eye and many are connected to the security services, it's the same for actors
“ Sneaking Sally Through The Alley” 🤯 what a damn shame to lose this musical genius and his love of so many different genres of music.
Is he in the rock and roll hall of fame ?
Nope
Seriously I thought he was in decades ago that's insane !
A great Yorkshireman
What a wonderful vid , I was a great fan of Robert palmer although is always proffered his earlier work ,after vinegar joe , and pre power station , if anyone is reading this I would like to know your thoughts on this . I feel that Harry styles , is the image of Robert when he was a younger man , his appearance changed a lot ,and his voice changed too . But I wanted to know if anyone else sees what I’m getting at re Harry Styles And the resemblance I mean just his looks only although he is also from Yorkshire or Manchester , similar accents let me know if your looking for early picks of Robert Palmer there is film of him with vinegar Joe on the old grew whistle test of old early video for his single which of us is the fool Let me know what you think ?
Harry sure shares the same class and vibe. Spot on.
@@ClevelandLiveMusic thanks for your feed back I’m Ubber old ,and when I say that to people they just think of Robert as the suited and booted version he became , every time I see Harry styles I see Robert , I know there no relation but it’s uncanny thanks so much
Wow now RP's out of the zeitgeist the industry's ripping him off with HS. Good point. Except HS is a boy and RP was a man from the beginning. With depth of character and integrity. Thank you for pointing this out. The music industry is obviously bs. But if young people buy into the cr*p that's out there it's the fault of the parents.
Harry Styles/Harry Potter all interchangeable new world order rubbish. Diluted and homogenous culture these days.
WOW epic tyvvm
Rock was rock especially rock.
such a cool guy .gone way to soon
Is there some reason I can't save this to a playlist?
None that I know! Weird
i didnt think that robert palmer smoked that much
Only Robert Palmer could slag off Guns & Roses LOL !
It was a ZZ Top kinda thing!still great!
