You need to include a handling test, that’s where some hatchbacks, particularly the Fiesta ST, truly shine, and not to not compare that is a shame
Wait a second... 4:36 The Focus ST MK4 has 420 NM, not 310...
Don't forget you add 0.5secs to the 0-60 for every passenger you have.
The focus dual glass roof is amazing. I have a 2018 focus st but I'm in the states. RIP focus st lovers.

They don’t even sell the Fiesta at all in America
Add my vote to the Focus ST,and the Focus ST is the real winner as the MPG was over 1600 miles not just 200 on the Fiesta.Oh and i am biased because my Ford has the Ruby Red paint and panoramic roof,got great taste the Focus owner.
Ive seen this ruby red in person last week and its gorgeous, and not the usual performance blue which everyone chooses

@diamus100 can't speak for the latest focus. But the new fiesta st has some serious venus fly traps as seats
my ST200 had the same problem, but you have to mold the seaths to your body. also I am fit, but not skinny like that bloke.

The fiesta would destroy the focus on handling, take them for a race around some windy roads. Thats the only test that counts for me, and the reason why i’ve switch back to a fiesta

I prefer the look of the focus. But with the 0-60 times so close why pay an extra 10 grand for the focus. The fiesta is the winner for me.

I love both, can’t say I’m a fan of the ruby red, someone parked their performance blue Mk4 ST next to my ST PE yesterday and that did make me regret not getting another focus as was stunning in the sun!
Mk8 ST doesnt really look too good in any color, cuz of the less agressive back end. Thats why i bought one in black, many of my friends regret picking performance blue, and think black looks best tbh
Ruby red discontinued,
Quite a poor head to head. If you are going to do a 0-60 then you need to do multiple runs in each to get a decent launch in each. I think both are quoted about the same 6.5 second time so that should have been a draw.
The Fiesta ST is heralded as one of the best hot hatches you can buy (Quaife LSD with the performance pack, superb handling), whereas the Focus suffers from torque steer and is generally not as good. The Fiesta is simply the better hot hatch and is up there with the Civic Type R and GR Yaris in the top 3 hot hatches you can currently buy.

You really should include some rolling times as part of the challenge, they are more realistic in everyday driving. 30-70 and 20-50 would be some good times to record.
You have way more fun in the fiesta, it's just that it's too boy racery for older drivers.
Not all older drivers either want or are able to drive high performance prestige cars. at 45yrs I have had the most fun ever, driving about for a few weeks in a fiesta st.

You are right. Fiesta is light and that is the key. Focus is over 1500 kg.. crazy for FWD car, hence Astra VXR was not popular for that reason also.
They shouldve turn the launch control off! It shouldn't wheel spin then😂

1:05 you said you've never seen the Focus except on the road. You're lucky. I live in the United States where they stopped production of this beautiful vehicle. I Drove a 2008 Focus SES, and I miss that car.

of course 3 pot is gonna be better on fuel... why they made the new ST a 3 pot in the first place.
Great sound, good character and nice performance. Fuel consumption is an added bonus.

It's 420Nm, even the mk3 had 360Nm.
Maybe Fiesta have small engine but this is truly a hot hatch car. I ordered St 2 version with performance pack for march 2021. I also prefer Fiesta because it is two times cheapier comapred to Focus ST at least here in Poland where I leave. Here price in PLN is like in
Great Britain in pounds so imagine pay 180 000 pounds for focus ST... :) We have some shitty salaries :D

@8.05 blaming his lsd for a slow 0- 60 time ....absolutely clueless. Lsd improves traction it doesnt make it worse. The car didnt bog down it was wheel spinning !
Race mode, dry road, 4000 rpm, ride out clutch, flat foot shift, no passenger, will get into the sixes with the fist. I know, I own one.
Plus, the fist will get better lateral g's than most cars on the market.
your mpg test was dubious at best
I've got an fiesta ST and get no way near 40mpg, 33 more like. That guy must drive it like granny 😂
It said 233miles... If that was mainly dual carriageway or motorway then easily doable driven at less than 80. He could have driven half the country to meet this guy for the test. I could always get 40mpg+ out of my mk3 focus mp275 on a run when going on family holidays, all loaded up. Obviously this would include a few overtakes but generally sensible driving.

You're amazed at under 30mpg on the focus and say you can't get near that in an m140i. My m140i has an average mpg of 35.3 over the last 10k miles, easily done with much spirited driving along the way
Nice cars and video - but if you’re going to trust the fuel computer for the MPG, at least reset it at the start of the tests!

(Warning: OFF TOPIC PARTS TO MY COMMENT) I'm a lover of Fords in general I wouldn't mind seeing Ford V Vauxhall - which in my mind (bear in mind I'm 48 years old) could cause as many arguments as there were and still are between Sinclair Spectrum owners and Commodore 64 owners (of course the Spectrum 128k machines kind of won that battle EASILY when you consider the quality of software titles from 1986 onwards ).

Well... got to say guys! More worth while tests would be how much the cars deflect spaghetti, best to drive with one foot and which looks best while hiding. The Focus ST is the same price as a Focus RS was for what is half the car if that. Gear stick is too high and is beaten on most areas by its competitors. The Fiesta handles better, is cheaper and just as quick in the real world if you drive it properly. The performance edition offers no more acceleration that's just wishful thinking. Plus... and any car that has a pano roof kills the 0-62 and the handling

My fiesta st-line 140 is doing about 37mpg 🤦🏻♂️
I typically get somewhere between 25-27mpg avg in my ST. Focus
It went in for some warranty repair and I was given a Puma 155 hybrid ST line.
The dash was saying 37mpg but I was chucking in same amount of fuel so I calculated it to be around 22mpg .
Which is diabolical for a 1.litre
It’s not a detuned version of the RS it’s a new engine completely. Also it’s got more than 310nm of torque 🤷🏻♂️
Ford screwed all of us ST buyers and supporters here in South Africs. No Fiesta mk 8 or Fokus mk 4 for us. Cannot understand why because all their stock of every model was sold out.Since the first ST 170 2002 model right up to the last in 2018. Shame on you Ford.will have to ho to another brand soon.

@Chris they were sold for UK market only. This has been verified and confirmed by ford UK and 600 in number pal. Whether anybody has exported them to Europe after they purchased is viable. But pls don't tell me to check my facts when they are 100% correct Chris. UK only production run..

And clearly states UK run only. So by your comments other than insulting me you in essence stating ford is being false in their advertising for the performance edition.. enjoy the rest of your evening and if name calling could be refrained from that would be appreciated

I like the exterior of both of them, just the interior let’s them down. Not even an option of a digital cockpit, just some very boring bland dials
The startup on that fiesta sounds horrible! If my car sounded like that i would bring it back to the shop!
