Matthew Bentley I think it would certainly give it a run for its money! The ST isn’t really a car for drag racing and the Golf is an absolute boss off the line. You can’t really beat it if that is what you are after.

The Video misses the point: fun to drive. And here even the stock ST breasts the golf hands down. Btw: I bought a new Golf R DSG last year and am selling it now because I test drove am ST which is just WAAAAY more fun. Sorry Golf, I still love ya.
@Chris A disklok costs like 100 quid these days mate. Any owner of any sought after/nice/sporty/quick car who leaves their car parked without one in this day and age is just a muppet. Yes theres the argument that "you should feel safe leaving it without a steering lock" and all the other petty arguments people will bring up, but the fact is, that's just because they are too cheap to invest in one 😂. I personally own one of these ST's have done for around the same time as Johnny and am running the same sort of power with the same supporting mods/hardware/software. And I can tell you I've never once become bored of it. Worth every penny I paid for it. Yes I may not get my money back when I want to sell it, but who cares man, I'm here for a good time not a long time 😉.

Definitely don't think they're slow though, have kept up with some serious cars in mine. Don't get me wrong it ain't gonna stick with the big boys like RS3's, M135i's or anything in that class on the straights. But get them all together on a track with good drivers and I think people would be shocked at what it can do. Have a good one anyway mate.

It's kept up with a few S3's (while rolling), Focus RS's, Type R's, a Hyundai i30N, Porshe Macan GTS (although they are a heavy car), got passed a Megane RS on track. Despite the golf being 200+kg heavier than the fiesta. When you think the golf is a Ford focus rival and it has 4WD it actually makes the fiesta seem quite heavy...
The Golf R owner always wins the noise test even though the other cars are louder and sound better. I like the Fiesta ST. If I had a budget of the Golf R I much prefer a Subaru Sti or the Focus RS
Without launch control 5.7 seconds is about right in the damp......that's the slight weakness of the R with it's big turbo - without getting some rev's off the line, power doesn't really kick in until about 2500 rpm, which will cost you at least half a second.

I'm surprised the ST is that heavy. My missus has a 1.25 litre Fiesta in the previous shape and it only weighs just over 1000kg, about 200g less than this 3 cylinder ST. The missus car feels light as a feather and handles brilliantly, although its as slow as f***.
I’d like to see the R Vs a APR Stage one MK7 or 7.5 GTi, was in the market for an R estate but after deciding to save a chunk of cash for other projects, I went with a GTi hatch instead, debating going the APR route and would like to see how they compare, know launch won’t be comparable, but rolling start I’d like to see the difference etc :)
I actually have a Stage 1 Mk8 Fiesta ST and a friend of mine have a 7.5 Golf GTI. My car is slightly faster and handles better compared to the stock GTI. The Golf R is obviously going to win any race against an ST because of the AWD.

Hey Hampshirphoto, I’ve seen a lot of your videos and have to say it’s not fare to compare your stock R to very expensive, basically, exotic hatchbacks or modded cars. I have a mk7 golf R and have owned a mk6 golf R and Mk6 GTI, all 3 were modded by APR. I’m a Doctor and could buy a much more expensive car, but I’m a huge fan of the practicality and performance of the R. I’ve done extensive mods on my cars and can tell you what works and what’s a wast of money if your interested.
They are so different, maybe not when weathers really bad but think in a tight ish sorta cornering race even if a little wet if it never really gets to go past 90 the fiesta might just get a little edge.... if the golf was mapped to 375 tho then wouldn’t matter if you stripped the fiesta out

After giving this video a good watch i have come to the conclusion, this is one of the most ridiculous car comparisons ive ever seen 😂. So you didnt talk at all about how fun the cars were to drive. You compared exhaust loudness 😕, 0-60 in a 4wd vs fwd car, like wtf is this a joke? What about actual car comparisons like handling, 30-70mph rolling acceleration, the fun factor, ability to get the back end to slide a bit, which engine sounds better, actual things that car enthusiasts care about. This video was basically a spec sheet for each, poor video.

Let's be honest the ST owner is a dreamer thinking he can complete with the Golf R. I appreciate he loves his car and it is a great car, but the Golf R is a different league. You can't put it down to the weather because the Golf would still smash it in perfect conditions.
In perfect conditions it would purely be down to who is the better driver/risk taker, 9hp/tonne is nothing and the fiesta being lighter and having LSD will be epic in the corners. In the wet it's a different story.
@@u04pww2 the Golf also has an LSD plus 4WD. Yes the Fiesta is a light good handling car but the Golf isn't exactly a barge. Plus BHP is just a headline figure. The Golf has way more torque and peak power comes in lower in the rev range. The Polo GTI is a ST rival, not the Golf. Even the Focus ST isn't a rival. The RS is it's direct rival and that's also another level to the Fiesta.
@@DanTheManc1981 The Golf weighs about 200kg more, that's alot. As for torque the golf has around 20 lb/ft more than this fiesta in the video , doesn't seem 'alot more' to me, as I said before in perfect conditions there would be nothing in it.

Let's be honest the ST owner is a dreamer thinking he can complete with the Golf R. I appreciate he loves his car and it is a great car, but the Golf R is a different league. You can't put it down to the weather because the Golf would still smash it in perfect conditions.
In perfect conditions it would purely be down to who is the better driver/risk taker, 9hp/tonne is nothing and the fiesta being lighter and having LSD will be epic in the corners. In the wet it's a different story.
@@u04pww2 the Golf also has an LSD plus 4WD. Yes the Fiesta is a light good handling car but the Golf isn't exactly a barge. Plus BHP is just a headline figure. The Golf has way more torque and peak power comes in lower in the rev range.
The Polo GTI is a ST rival, not the Golf. Even the Focus ST isn't a rival. The RS is it's direct rival and that's also another level to the Fiesta.
@@DanTheManc1981 The Golf weighs about 200kg more, that's alot. As for torque the golf has around 20 lb/ft more than this fiesta in the video , doesn't seem 'alot more' to me, as I said before in perfect conditions there would be nothing in it.

ATE Continental Freins à disque avants ATE Continental qui équipent la Fiesta nouvelle neuve actuelle:voyez ,où plutôt écouter ce qui se passe lorsqu'on freine,c'est assourdissant,et ceci n'est qu'une partie de ces freins lamentables,car EN PLUS ,à l'arret,en tournant le volant à droite, comme à gauche,on doit suporter un craquement métallique,tout le temps.! Pour le chef d'atelier,c'est normal,mais après des milliers de kilomètres maintenant,les crissements de tôle en terminaison de freinage sont toujours làl et aussi dans les braquage de roues à l'arret! Pas la moindre amélioration! Mais ceci n'est pas sans conséquence pour Ford,car à cause de ces ATE Continental,autour de moi,plus personne ne veut prendre une Ford neuve.Qui voudrait avoir,à vie,une voiture qui fait un tel vacarme?! Qui plus est,invendable!
