Bought one as my first brand new car end of 2020 (I'm in my 50's). I loved that little beast and would go for many drives purely for the entertainment value. I fitted a Milltek exhaust and stage 1 tune along with a few other minor but useful mods. Overall I was very happy with that excellent little pocket rocket. I later bought a 23 BRZ and owned these two cars together for around 18 months. In the end, the BRZ earned it's place in my garage over the Fiesta ST - with it's RWD and driving dynamics it's simply the better car of the two imo but still have great memories of the Fiesta ❤😆 It all goes full circle - ended up selling it to a family for their sons first car. He's a happy lad.

This is probably my favourite car review I’ve ever seen. The insight from the mechanic towards the end is something I really appreciate as no other car channel seems to tell us this kind of information, so thank you. I’ve had a MK8 ST for just over 3 years now and the wet oil pump belt has been a concern of mine in the long term. I have the Performance Edition so hopefully if it holds its value well over time, the belt change might be a job worth doing. Great review 🙌🏼
I bought one of these last year and I bloody love it. It puts a smile on your face every time you drive it. I didn't know about the oil pump wet belt so you've terrified me about the FiST. I'm sure its nothing speed and power won't fix
Just make sure you use the correct engine oil and change frequently. Every five years or so, get a mechanic to open up the sump and inspect the condition of the belt.

Great video! Very informative about the reliability. have the new MK8.5 and love it to bits, so glad I managed to pick one up 😍. It's good to hear the 1.5L in the Fiesta's is decent. Pretty rare car now though, since Ford discontinued the lineup 😢. With it being a bit of a collectable now, quite a few people are keeping the MK8.5's relatively stock and trying to keep the odo down. The audio volume significantly reducing when reversing I actually think is a good thing - helps you focus on reversing/parking for a few seconds. I would definitely rather hear parking sensors instead of someone talking to help prevent a little crash. Love you're videos, keep it up!!

A 3 cylinder engine in the Fiesta ST? I thought it was a 2.0 turbocharged 4 cylinder...maybe I'm thinking of the ones sold in the US, or the previous generation.
Similar whinge to the numb bum: there are a lot of cars I would like to own but can't because of the shoulder bolstering in many modern cars. I'm just at the height where my shoulders don't fit properly and the bolsters push my shoulders forward which is agony after about tend minutes. This is particularly the case with sports models of cars, and the only way I could own them would be to have seats from the pleb models.

Just regrease the column. Easy fix. Solves most problems. But if you waited too long, you probably damaged the column already.
I looked at this, Puma ST, Focus ST. Ended up with the Focus because I couldn’t feel that I trust the 3 cylinder 😬
I’m sure I’d love it, but I’d rather live with the (as Mazda would say) “right sized” 2.3
Yes, but the 2.3l in the last RS had serious problems. Are the issues gone on the latest 2.3 in the mk4 Focus ST?
@@alexecristian937 2016-17 cars as far as I know. They had the wrong head gasket installed from factory (mustang one). Older and newer models have been quite reliable. Mk4 ST definitely has the correct part fitted, the mess was an embarrassment Ford was keen to avoid.
it would not be far fetched when the 3 cylinder outlasts the 4 cylinder.
@@dom3827 Time will tell. The 2.3 4cyl has proven itself, lets see what happens with the 3cyl
@@Pkari its already 6 yrs on the market. No major issues yet. The first version had problems with the timing chain cover leaking a bit oil. But thats it.
Here on the Nurburgring where i live a 300 hp 1.5 3 cylinder Fiesta is getting tested by Pumaspeed.
Already 100k km successfull to my knowledge.
Engine unopened.
Im confident.
3 cylinders are known to be very reliable after all.
Shame they’ve stopped production of it 😢
Could you do a video of Suzuki Grand Vitara, Thanks
Just imagine if Mazda did it, using an engine made of actual metal.
can you please do the ford focus st mark 3/3.5 next?
Good onya Zac!
Please do a FK8 Type R!
Peugeot 308 gti review next pls ❤
could you do a video on the base model r34 skylines?
Can someone tell me does the i20n feel bigger inside
Time for the flashy, showy, incredible i20n to strut its stuff💙. Still loved your review and I do like this car, but for me it doesn't look quite hot enough (i20n owner here, quite obviously I suspect) 😊
i20n is a nice little rocketship but it's kinda like a naturally good-looking chick who cakes herself in makeup, it just looks like it's trying too hard. i30n on the other hand is understated with just enough visual cues of its potency. In my opinion
@@eponymous7910😂 I like your description of the little beast and I think it fits and have to admit it makes me smile every time I look at it for its over the topness 🤣
i dont like the i20N. Too childish for me, too much hot wheels vibe.
But i guess you are young and that is what you want.
It's not everyone's cup of tea, love understated and love over the top, as long as it's done with a sense of humour 😊@@dom3827
what a cliffhanger, what was the problem with the steering?
mk3 or 3.5 focus st when??
Third visit to Rhodes according to my count
Sure, it's a great car to drive, I do far prefer 5drs on my hot hatches & they got rid of the 500 buttons & switches. But it's still a modern Ford, basically the Ranger Company. Yeah...nah, pass. =)
Kindly do a review for Mercedes-AMG C63 S Estate
So, long term, about as reliable as a politicians promise, and around as expensive to fund.
But in the short term, a party every day.
The engines are solid. I don't really understand why one oil pump belt and timing chain is such a big deal? Many cars have timing belts that have service intervals that cost much more to change than oil pump belt + timing chain on one of these. OEM parts from Ford including all gaskets etc. is well under 200€, and labour time is 4,5-6hours depending on the mechanic.
the 1.5 3 cylinder has been prooven rocksolid.
I’d buy these simply for the fact that they are made in Germany.
Abarth 595/695, MX5 or Swift Sport.
Q. How do you know when a shit drummer is at the door ?
A. The knocking speeds up
FiSTing is always good
Wrong channel 😊
Fingering will make your day, but fisting will make your hole week!! 😂
A 3 cylinder engine in the Fiesta ST? I thought it was a 2.0 turbocharged 4 cylinder...maybe I'm thinking of the ones sold in the US, or the previous generation.
Yep. Mark 8 model changed to the 3cyl.
Fiesta st never had a 2 liter engine en the US market. It was a 1.6.
Fiesta never had a 2L Turbo. No generation.
First was a 2L NA. Second was 1.6 Turbo. Today it has 1.5L Turbo.
don’t touch it. That belt issue could cost you as it gets older.
which belt? It does not have one.
Its an absolute Chav Magnet no way
Wet belts are what makes me avoid Fords. All their turbo engines have them now.
Welcome to Rhodes
Similar whinge to the numb bum: there are a lot of cars I would like to own but can't because of the shoulder bolstering in many modern cars. I'm just at the height where my shoulders don't fit properly and the bolsters push my shoulders forward which is agony after about tend minutes. This is particularly the case with sports models of cars, and the only way I could own them would be to have seats from the pleb models.
