Slightly conflicted, I’m from JacklynGlenn’s channel & I just am concerned about spreading the views that you guys-Paul & Morgan- have.
If it was just a benign Christianity like what God is Grey promotes, then I’d have no problem. But that’s not what you guys are about.
Either way it was a good change from the usual Atheist vs Christian arguments that happen.
It’d be funny if you guys have me on one day though🤣🤣 Paul & Morgan interview a Pansexual Atheist Occultist.

That divorce question was a surprise but a super good one! It was pretty scary to me when they were talking about that and the part about looking at bad pictures or having other relationships! 😬😬 Jaclyn and David really seem to have a very solid and sweet relationship which makes it so weird for me to actually hear those options from someone! 🤭 But I know they don’t necessarily do all of those, but they were pretty open-minded towards other people doing it! 😬

I’m an atheist witch , & I wouldn’t marry someone that gets upset that I watch porn. I won’t and I don’t think I should, solely rely on my partner if I ever want to be sexual.
There’s a myriad of reasons either of us might not want to have sex at the same time.
But things like that should come up eventually if you communicate well & have a sex life with your partner before getting engaged.

    • @caitlynbabin1592
      @caitlynbabin1592 2 года назад +24

Yeah, I’m atheist as well but in my personal experience it’s not something that everyone is cut out to consume in a healthy way. Boundaries and a healthy relationship with sex is important and I’ve known too many people that cross that line into unhealthy. It’s too easy to start idealizing something that isn’t real and people can fall into a habit of comparing it and their partner. This can lead to the consumer feeling unsatisfied with their own sex life and causing a gradual drift away from their partner. Wether that be not having sex as often because they’d rather just watch porn and do it themselves or because they’re now so desensitized to sex itself that they pick up interests that their partner doesn’t and possibly will never share.
If someone or a couple in general can do it healthily and keep solid boundaries between real life and fiction… more power to them. But in my own marriage it’s not something we do. My husband is Christian and that opens up a whole new can of worms as far as shame spiraling for him. Our marriage has been so much easier for both of us since he was finally able to break away from it.

I loved this. I used to be an Atheist which is how I knew Jaclyn (Ive also known David from music for like 10 years but that's a total coincidence) then started to lean back towards Christianity. I grew up Catholic and rebelled against it, then started to do my own work with no pressure from others and found a place that I feel more comfortable and confident. Im not conservative at all, but I enjoy hearing all the perspectives because the work I do is based off of those questions that I can't answer. Those force me to dig into them and decide where I stand and why I stand there. I definitely disagree with a lot of Paul and Morgan's beliefs, but applaud their openness and ability to allow themselves to be challenged. What drove me away from faith initially was people being unwilling to answer and angered by challenging questions. We need more people that are open to the convo without feeling "attacked" whenever they don't have an answer.

Is there really people who can’t imagine how a relationship works if there is no submission? How do relationships work without a leader? Pretty well, actually. It’s amazing at how much you can accomplish as a couple when neither partner’s shoulders are bearing all the weight and expectations. I’ve been married seven happy years and it has been thanks to team work.
I have said it on Jaclyn and the Frank Family’s Vlog: I have been pretty happy with your budding friendship. It’s great for you all to set an example of how you don’t have to have the same beliefs to be friends.

    • @kaylanfomby7506
      @kaylanfomby7506 2 года назад +1

It's interesting, as a christian I was surprised to see that a marriage with leadership dynamics was put in such contrast to the concept of teamwork, bc I believe the two should be inextricably intertwined in a christian marriage. Biblical standards call husbands to lay down their lives for their wives every day and to serve them in love, and simultaneously call wives to submit to the leadership of their husband. And to husbands they are called to submit to God ultimately, and wives are also told to submit ultimately to God, and thus are given full license to choose God if following the leadership of the husband would be to sin against God. Both are instructed to respect each other, in addition to adhering to all the guidance given for general interpersonal interactions as a Christian. And the husband is clarified as the head of the family.
Biblical standards also require ALL followers of Jesus to submit to each other out of reverence for Christ (married believers are not exempt!), and also talks about letting each person use their strengths and gifts for the glory of God within the Body of Christ, which a christian marriage would be under the umbrella of. Each christian is considered by biblical definition a member of a collective body, and the bible explicitly clarifies that one is not more important or more essential than the other, but rather all are needed for anything to work well.
To me, all of these things imply a kind of teamwork defined by deep humility and weighty responsibility that no christian is exempt from, even in marriage. The humility is in choosing to submit to each other and respect each other's skills and gifts above traditional power (or even gender) structures. And everything you do should honor the sacrificial love of God, so there is a constant deference to the Way of Jesus on both sides. And much space is made to challenge each other if decisions and actions are made that don't honor God, so it's not like wives can't check their husbands and vice versa. And there is a deep responsibility for each spouse to live a life individually that glorifies God, and to support one another and bear each other's burdens, to encourage one another and offer help and resources and advice when they can, as well as to be honest about their opinions and concerns and to commit to forgiveness and reconciliation, in addition to working together and allowing their individual gifts to come together unified, and reflect the love of God to the people around them. And financially, the bible supports both spouses contributing to the family's wealth, although the husband as the head of the family has the 'legal', more official responsibility to provide for his family as able.
What this means to me is that the human conception of leadership as holding power over each other is broken down when Jesus is at the center of a relationship where there is a leader, marriage or otherwise. And the expectations of leadership within a christian marriage are only expected WHEN Jesus is at the center, so to have leadership dynamics just cuz without the standards of serving each other and respecting each other is not the Way of Jesus anyway.
Because of all this it's interesting to me that leadership and teamwork were held as opposing perspectives in this conversation. I think when one partner is bearing most of the weight and expectations, or even FEELS as though they are, something is wrong. Because yes it cannot be erased that in a christian marriage the husband is the head of the family and therefore holds the position of a leader, but that does not automatically shove all responsibility on his shoulders, and even though christian wives are called to submit to the leadership of their husbands, that does not take all the responsibility from the husband as a leader and place it onto the wife to just accept whatever he says and does. But it really takes being willing to throw away sociocultural understandings (or personal preferences) of leadership/submission and a determination to adhere to biblical instruction as an individual AND as a couple to allow space for both submission and teamwork dynamics to thrive.
      my thoughts lol :)

I think Paul and Morgan could have emphasized more with the divorce question that divorce is okay for adultery AND abuse. If God doesn’t want you forced into a marriage with an unfaithful partner it is also true of a partner that physically, sexually, or emotionally abuses you. But in every case it’s important to fight for your marriage if you can.
Also with the porn question - it’s not just about adultery. Tonssss of research also backs up the fact that porn (in marriage or outside it) is super destructive for peoples brains and relationships. Regardless of religion, porn is very damaging.
And I was curious how you guys would have responded to how Jaclyn and David addressed the headship question (where they emphasized teamwork and empathy). Because although Christian marriages have headship there is also a lot of teamwork in there. Paul doesn’t just tell wives to submit to husbands, but for everyone to submit to one another. So I wish you guys had built on their answer to how a Christian marriage is similar/ different. Christian marriage should never be about a man dominating his wife - and biblically it’s not!
    Anyways awesome video!!!

I consider myself a deconstructed Christian and my fiance is an atheist. It really is do-able if you aren't trying to push your conclusions on the other person. However, this would be different if I actually thought atheists get an automatic hell card. We also sort of agree sometimes on what makes sense for a loving God if God exists, so we have some common ground and he thinks its cute when i get passionate and rant about organized religion. so that's a good dynamic we have going

I would be awkward like Morgan when telling them what marriage means. I know we can sound ‘crazy’ from a non-Christians perspective. I like how Paul jumps in to support and clarify what she’s saying. So cute 💕

Most non-Christians know a lot about Christianity, many of us were Christians, so your perspective isn’t new and it isn’t weird. We want people to have healthy relationships. Divorce saved my life and I’m glad it was an option for me, but all I want for anyone is for them to be in healthy relationships, especially with their spouse.

Why are you a Atheist ? Don't you know like 250 of the races we see today God created at the Tower of Babel and they never never existed before then. There is no historical record of none of them prior to God dividing up people by launguage to get humans to form the nations we see today. There isnt a human alive who can even tell you where.any.race lived on the Map. If this doesn't scare the HELL OUT OF YOU IT SHOULD BECAUSE God IS EVERYWHERE AND IN CONTROL OF EVERYTHING

@@truecolors5413 One can put 80 to 90 per cent of the known languages into a dozen or so language families based on comparative analisys (cognates, grammatical rules, etc.), and the only reason researchers are cautious with going furter with a tree of descent encompassing all languages is that languages change so much that those methods start to get less reliable after seven thousand years or so (and there's barely any written texts from that time too). But that's exactly how languages work, and how they always worked. In less than two thousand years you got French, Spanish, Italian from the same language, Latin. Even though there world is more connected now, give two thousand years and the same is bound to happen with British and American English. Also, we have many historical records of Sumer, Egypt, etc. from before Judaism was even a thing.
Please get an education. Comments like this make me lose my remainging faith in humanity.

Just a note about the submission part. Feminists like to take one part of that verse out of context with the rest of it. Wives are to submit to their husbands as husbands are to be considerate and respectful towards their wives as being the weaker partner. And this is under the provision of a Godly relationship. Mind you, I think a lot of churches take it out of context as well. There are sects about making sure the woman is kept under control and in her place. Just look up polygamy. This is why Christians on an individual basis need to get back to understanding the Bible word-by-word. Even going back to the original Hebrew to understand what was meant back then.

This was a touching, healing, beautiful collaboration. I harbor so much resentment, anger, and pain from my evangelical upbringing and I never realized just how much I have let my own biases harden me. Though I still very much disagree with a lot of your viewpoints, I am touched to see the growth and the level of openness you both displayed in this video. We need so much more of this and I’m glad none of you allowed the criticism to hold you back from having this dialogue!

For real, this makes my life so happy. We Christians have our beliefs, but we should also care about people who believe differently than us.
I’m so glad to see this! Keep it up! Keep it civil, and we’ll keep watching. You guys are an example of unity.
Also, two of my favorite youtuber couples.

This was really awesome. Considering I first came across you guys watching Jaclyn's responses to your videos I think it's amazing that you guys are friends now and are coming to a mutual understanding of each other.
I guess it's healthy for both sides to come together and discuss each other's differences and try to understand each other's perspectives.

Jaclyn is so beautiful. Just sitting there she is stunning. She just exudes grace, maturity, strength, intelligence, femininity, yet is silly and fun, very funny, very caring and courageous, confident, firm yet gentle, dominant, and even a bit intimidating but in the best way possible and she doesn't try to down-play herself. She doesn't put herself down to make her husband look better. She doesn't play dumb and never tries to downplay her atheist-feminist beliefs just because she knows they don't agree, yet she is completely open to listening to different perspectives and is not resistant to change. If she sees something is working out better, she isn't afraid to change and try out different ways of living. Same with Morgan. I'm glad they both seemed very open to hearing each other's side of things. Jaclyn is unapologetically who she is and doesn't let anyone dull her shine and David is wonderful as he doesn't dull her shine at all, he lifts her up constantly and always has great things to say about her. She is definitely a great example for women and because of her life experience has a lot of advice to give and so much to speak about. Jaclyn's been through so much, has changed immensely, has grown immensely, and is living proof that you can go from struggling and being in bad relationships to having a beautiful family. Life experience is truly the best way to learn and grow, which is why I firmly believe we all should experience as much as possible in the world so we can tell our journies and help others not make the same mistakes.
