    Thanks for watching this video on stupid questions that christians think atheists ask. Atheist VS Christian viewpoints on how we think are obviously very different. Honestly this sounds like a list of stupid questions that doubting christians would ask other christians to figure things out. Atheists don't care about god's underwear or wonder about angels. Just ridiculous x'D

    When I was an exchange student in the US, I told my host parents that I was not religious (I didn't say atheist because I didn't want to "offend" them). My host mum told me outright that she did not approve of me not believing in God. I went to church with them every Wednesday and Sunday. There was one Sunday when I asked them if I could stay at home, and I had argue my way through. I stayed at home, and I was told that they talked behind my back at the church. Later I told them I was gay, and they threw me out. What lovely and good-hearted people they were! I am Danish, by the way.

      xXRezzXx actually they do..for the purpose of debate to prove, challenge, give evidence for why the Christian's have their belief. Atheist have been accused of mockery when its they are curious to why we believe in this mystic god of pagin an fable origins. I question all the time still..this is how I believe. I didnt go on this crazy BLIND faith. but I study..its just me..not me debating nonbelievers or try to make someone believe ..that is useless and Not my job. If God is almighty he can call his own to himself. And He does, and He can still. And He don't need a book to do this..If never had Torah or New testament God can reveal and do how He chooses whenever he chooses. TAKE THE BIBLE OUT he can still show up an all ways just like he did for one example he came in the flesh...He is God. The Hell concept is a lie ..but I know this because of my Hebrew background..MAN is not my teacher but The spirit of God is the one who gives truth. If I take Yeshua out of my belief..I would have no belief and would be an atheist just like you are! .Yeshua is the only way, truth, an life. but I don't enforce my belief on any unbeliever ..That's invasion and its not my job. God didnt invade me..why would I do this to another. Yeshua is not this evil like HARSH God that so many changed his word, just distorted an this was on purpose.. ..but Yeshua says his word is eternal ions and nobody can destroy, .even if all Bibles are burned up an have no more ..His word will never end. and * I believe Yeshua. Amen

    My friend is super Christian and doesn't believe in evolution. She said "a chimp can't become a human in 3 days" and I explained how it takes millions of years for evolution to happen. And she responded "the Earth has only been around for about 10,000 years." And I asked what about the fossils that are found billions of years ago. I'm not kidding you, she responded this. "God's version of time is different from ours. What a day is to him could be thousands of years for us." And I responded that she didn't answer my question at all, it didn't explain how fossils can be dated billions of years ago. And she again responded "you can't trust what science tells you all the time."

      Old comment but yeah, it's impossible to argue with them. There's a guy in a social circle I run in, he's not actually a bad guy and he's a good writer, so it's not like he's stupid or anything. But he's a very religious person and has completely drunk the religious koolaid, even with evolution fully explained he just couldn't accept it because of the Bible. He understood what I was saying by his own admission and even said it made sense, but objected because "The Bible says creatures don't change their 'kind'"
      A couple weeks later I ended up talking some about ancient mesopotamia and mentioned the Sargon legend and stuff with this guy around, and he pointed out the parallels to Moses. I said yeah, there's quite a few parallels between the early story of Moses and the early story of Sargon (hell both were even Semitic raised in the court and culture of non-semites unless I'm mistaken) and it's theorised that that part of Moses story was a corrupted descendent of the Sargon legend and that a lot of the bible stories are linked to these older tales, like how Noah's was a descendent of the Epic of Gilgamesh
      He couldn't accept that. He /had/ to make it work so the Bible was the truth. Even when all the evidence was showing that it was the Bible which was a misremembering of the story, he couldn't accept it. Instead he started weaving this absolutely impossible story where something must have happened even further back and the Sargon legend was a misremembering and exodus was the truth revealed through revelation (nevermind that Sargon becomes an emperor in his story and Moses becomes some guy who wanders around the desert for 40 years so the idea that they're both a mistelling of the same story rather than a bastardised merging of two different stories is absurd, with there being no archaeological evidence of a big exodus from Egypt but lots of evidence for Sargons existence...)
      They simply have to move the goal posts, even when they have everything explained to them and all the evidence laid out for them, they will still reject it even if they admit it makes more sense the other way. It's honestly really frightening because it means there is absolutely no reasoning with them on a lot of their beliefs; even if they personally can see that you're right, they reject it because they are outsourcing their higher brain functions to an old book of fables.

      ***** not really. I've debated a lot of christians and it's true that it's simply a waste of time. Christians are blinded by their bullshit and when you bring up how bad their religion is they just stick their fingers in their ears and pretend it never happened while it's written in their own book. Sorry but it's simply a fact that debating those people is a waste of time and even debating a brick wall would be better than debating a christian because at least the brick wall wouldn't give retarded arguments like most christians do.

  • @DrShaym

    I have a question:
    If God created us in his own image, that implies that he has arms, legs, a mouth, etc. Why would he need any of those? He can levitate things with his mind, so he doesn't need arms. He can fly and he never gets tired, so he doesn't need legs. He doesn't eat and he can communicate telepathically, so he doesn't need a mouth. If he created us in his image, then that implies he has a bunch of body parts he doesn't need. Doesn't having superfluous body parts conflict with the idea that he's perfect in every way?

    • @joops110
      @joops110 8 лет назад +52

      +Dr Shaym You are absolutely right, such a body would have no functionality up there. I think what the prophets were trying to tell us is more about the spiritual side of our being. Our spirit is similar to god's spirit. I believe we are all one collective spirit, all part of one being, (made in it's image because we are it).
      I'm just speculating, not a christian myself!

      Skrebz I’m not a christian but I don’t believe the Old Testament is for them. More for jews than the followers of Christ imo. And I don’t get why it is in the bible anyway. Christ said old things have gone away and all things have become new. I think it is in a part when they were talking about the old laws. Which ,to me, means the Old Testament are not “my” laws, hence, it is not christianity.

    • @johannarivers57
      @johannarivers57 5 лет назад +4

      My understanding at present, is that (in one aspect of reading the bible) it should be taken as a story to follow.
      In other words, how it was (story beginning, body), and how it turned out (story end). As such, the bible is illustrating an evolution. The OT showing the older way, the NT showing a newer way. This is an aspect to why people say Jesus (NT) fulfils the OT.
      If you take a story like Harry Potter, maybe in earlier books he was afraid of eg Voldemort, but towards the end he no longer was (making this up as I go, really). As such, comments like * why do you pick and choose * provoke me to imagine someone picking one part of Harry Potter and trying to tell others that that one quote is the essence of the whole series... Not really a good understanding of HP, imho.
      To give an example from the bible: in the OT there was a story of someone who cheated on their partner. This was seen as wrongful, and so the public wanted them punished by being stoned to death. (We humans today gasp)
      Then in the NT, the same scenario was presented (a cheating spouse and people seeking punishment), but this time it was different. Here comes Jesus with a higher consciousness, and said, ok yes cheating is bad, but let the person without sin (mistake) cast the first stone (punish the cheater). Quite the contrast in dealing with the same situation.
      So in this * biblical example *, we see how the OT was * fulfilled * by Jesus in the NT: he added that extra dimension/ layer of understanding. WIthout the OT, we would not have been able to see this contrast. Knowing the history and observing the change in thinking is a part of what makes the story special.
      TLDR, cherry picking quotes in order to gain an understanding of the story as whole is folly. Don't watch 5 minutes of HP and say you now perfectly understand all 7 (?) HP books out. Texts such as the bible require study if one truly wants to gain insight to their existence - it's not something well understood at a glance.
      Anyway that's my 2c for now! Hope you have a lovely day

    Why am I not surprised that the book seems to be stock full of straw man questions. In other words, questions that no serious atheist has ever asked, ever.
    I strongly believe that the author of the book made up the vast majority (if not all) of those questions. The author has never heard them being asked, or even heard anybody say they were asked those questions. The author just invented the questions out of nothing. Which goes to show, once again, the dishonesty of Christian apologists.

      ""No God" you don't fucking know that."
      -Not many atheists claim that there is no god. Since most of you theists say that "god" is intelligible, incorporeal, etc it's awfully hard to disprove such a thing. There's a difference between saying "I don't believe that a god exists" and "I know that no god exists", ya know.
      "Big Bang breaks many science laws"
      -...Let me guess, thermodynamics? You know that the only people that say things like that AREN'T scientists and have no clue whatever what thermodynamics even MEANS? Or have you bothered to look up why these supposed "breaks" in the laws of science are just flat out wrong? I have, and I would be happy to clear up any misconception that you might have.
      "usually Old Testament to new for some reason"
      -Well, for me it's mostly the doctrines that I have a problem with. Such as original sin, eternal torture for crimes committed in a finite lifetime; the mass murdering of the various neighboring tribes in the Old Testament, human sacrifice (look up the story of Jephthah, saw a pastor try to give a sermon on that one once) just to name a few. Oh, and the whole thing where the only way Yahweh can fix the whole mess from the Old Testament is to sacrifice himself in human form, to himself, to undo the whole problem from Genesis that he created (him being Omniscient / Omnipotent). But yes, there's plenty of contradictions. Almost anyone who has studied it and is honest with themselves can tell you that, just look at who went to the tomb of Jesus first in the different books for example. Usually it gets explained away as "metaphorical" or something.

    • @jaredshope1122
      @jaredshope1122 8 лет назад +2

      mstachife thermodynamics has to do with heat and energy. Nothing to do with the Big Bang. The supposed Big Bang was created when (no document EVER explains the actual initial reaction) and then the heat and energy spread into (absolute nothing). Our relative understanding of the Big Bang contradicts "matter cannot be created nor destroyed" which is a HUUGE universal law. And yes, the bible is VERY metaphorical. Like the Adam and Eve (*irony*) for starters, evolution doesn't desprove this at all. What the story really represents is God's first technical humans. Not necessarily 2, but you get the point. Anyways, Eve was created from Adams RIB or something "by his side" symbolizing Woman and Men side by side. And the snake symbolizing Satan. Snakes are always portrayed as evil and cynical. And no, I don't think Old Testament arguments are valid anymore. I'm not a Jew, I believe that Jesus was the savior. And you may ask, well why can't God just forgive us without a sacrifice? Well, forgiveness simply comes with a price. And Jesus was the reincarnation of God. He wasn't GOD himself, he just possessed the entities that made him the savior. He is chillin in heaven now so...cool. I don't dismiss that our God may not be the correct God. I have many other reasons I believe in this specific God as well. I can't imagine a universe this grand from either small atoms that combusted (we don't know where they came from if there was something that created everything) or a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e NOTHING created everything.
      Good day and cheers

      My parents kinda think I'm a big disappointment though... which is a shame! If only they could sit and talk about it like adults... however, it's been a good experience to deal with their prejudice, it's sort of a softcore practice for future interactions with radical believers. 2) is Satan just down there all alone? Jesus took every one out and made sure no one else goes there.

      Gicu Doru I was a pastor. I know scripture. I know the interpretations of gods will. Maybe you should stop relying on your preacher to cherry pick the good parts and actually read the book for yourself. Then you may understand that the god you think you know is far different from the one in that book.

    • @filmeseverin
      @filmeseverin 7 лет назад +2

      +Matt The Trucker Many texts from the Old Testament seem to talk about the god of this world, who is the enemy of the Creator: *"Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don't believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don't understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God."* (2 Corinthians 4, 4)
      However, regarding the Bible, it could be altered very easily by evil humans (tools of the fallen angels), over history, to manipulate people, and that's why most of the translations have lost the original purity of the messages (probably the orthodox scriptures have remained closer to the truth), but *a true Christian follows the goodness of Jesus Christ* and ignores those possible manipulated texts mainly from the Old Testament.

      Why?

    • @shaunfreeman6056
      @shaunfreeman6056 7 лет назад +1

      Lawrence Fernandez I would like to answer this as it says in 1 Peter 3:18:
      18 For Christ died once for all time for sins, a righteous person for unrighteous ones, in order to lead you to God. He was put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.
      And in Hewbrews 9:12:
      12 He entered into the holy place, not with the blood of goats and of young bulls, but with his own blood, once for all time, and obtained an everlasting deliverance for us.
      So the Bible teaches us that Jesus died 'once for all time', he died to atone for our sins and there is no need to do it again as it was done once. The scripture in 1 Peter 3:18 also says he was was put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit. Jesus died as a perfect man to atone for what Adam lost and passed on to us. Then God resurrected him as a spirit and has given him immortality we see this in Roman 6:9
      9 For we know that Christ, now that he has been raised up from the dead, dies no more; death is no longer master over him.
      So the answer to your question 'How many times does it take to kill Jesus' is once as he can no longer die because he is immortal.
      As a Christian myself I did find that book ridiculous. That is not the way to go about helping people who ask sincere questions about our faith as 1 Peter 3:15 says
      15 But sanctify the Christ as Lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defense before everyone who demands of you a reason for the hope you have, but doing so with a mild temper and deep respect.

    Q1:
    Actually, I have met a woman who said "I don't believe in carbon".
    Yes... Some Christians do go to those lengths, because denying literally all of science is required to deny some basic facts. In this case, to "disprove" radio carbon dating, her response was that she didn't believe in atoms.

    • @johnburn8031
      @johnburn8031 4 месяца назад

      The ratio of carbon 14 to carbon 12 is used to carbon date organic matter, such as plants and animals.
      Carbon dating can be verified by using dendrochronology.
      It does have some limitations. For example it can't be used reliably to date:
      Materials that have been exposed to radioactive sources.
      Marine organisms.
      Materials over 100,000 years old.
      Trees or materials that have been exposed to high concentrations of carbon dioxide emissions produced by burning fossil fuels.

      Being a theist is not the same as believing the Bible. Being an atheist doesn't mean you're part of a religion now or were in the past. Here is what the terms literally mean:
      Theist - You believe in the existence of God or Gods.
      Atheist - You do not believe in the existence of God or Gods.
      The important thing to know is that these are merely belief structures a person has. The categories can be broken up further when we talk about what person claims to know. Gnosticism comes from the Greek meaning "Having knowledge". So someone who is agnostic, does not claim to have knowledge "Without knowledge". So you are left with 4 categories:
      Gnostic Theist
      Agnostic Theist
      Agnostic Atheist
      Gnostic Atheist
      The later still relates to their belief while the former relates to their claimed knowledge for that belief.
      Since knowledge is not a subjective matter, at least one of these categories has to be wrong. Frankly, it seems like both gnostic groups are overstepping because if they truly had knowledge it would be testable and observable. To say "I know" is to state a claim while "I believe" only states personal belief.
      This is the summary of religious views. If I continue we'll start talking about burden of proof... (The answer is that any gnostic person has it).

      Here are a few less "Christian" comments from Jesus:
      * Jesus criticizes the Jews for not killing their disobedient children according to Old
      Testament law. Mark.7:9-13 "Whoever curses father or mother shall die" (Mark 7:10 NAB)* Jesus is criticized by the Pharisees for not washing his hands before eating. He defends
      himself by attacking them for not killing disobedient children according to the
      commandment: “He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.” (Matthew 15:4-7)Not very "loving" eh?

    I'm an Atheist who has asked religious people some of those questions (including some of the "stupid" ones)... And I know the answers. I'm not asking because I don't know. I'm asking to make them think about those, and assuming they reach my answer, have them in turn question their religion's claims. Most of the time, when I do that, religious people change the topic by making a new assertion, to which I retort with a more closely related question that I also know the answer to. That said, if this book really doesn't have answers, then I'd highly recommend Christians buy it, and read through. The theist vs. atheist discourse could use some fresh arguments.

      Random Internet Profile I make fun of the logic (or lack thereof), not "them". Like if someone throws at me the Omnis, I might throw out a question that, yes, in its very formulation shows having all the Omnis is just impossible even in theory, let alone be real... But the point is to dispute the Omnis, not make fun of the person believing them.
      For example, "Why would an all loving god create diseases and 'natural' disasters?" or "If god is all knowing and all powerful and has a plan, what's the point of praying or otherwise 'talking' to him? He already knows what you want before you started praying, and will execute his plan regardless. And it's not like your prayer is giving him strength, since he is all powerful... right?".
      As long as a believer mentions "god's love" or something like that, I think he's "qualified" to receive questions like the above.

      1. Evolution is just a consequence of the way God made His creation.
      2. There is no contradiction between God/Jesus and science.
      3. Science is just incapable to prove (conceive/comprehend) God.
      4. Atheists are forgetting that the Bible was written to be understandable even for the people from those old times.
      5. Most atheists are not believing in God/Jesus to not have restricted the satisfaction of their addictions etc.
      6. If all people would follow the wisdom from God/Jesus then we would have no more crimes, useless suffering, injustice and generally evil things between people.
      7. Those who have harmed people (in any way, not only through wars) did not have faith in God (it is not enough to put a "label" on a "product" to be that thing, the 'content' is what makes the difference ... ).
      8. Any bad human being (who hurts innocent people and even himself) is NOT following the wisdom from God/Jesus, but the "evil forces" instead.
      9. That is why people need mainly free better education for all to decrease stupidity, respectively all the bad things, which is what God/Jesus wants.

    • @beththedarkmage3359

      +Karim Hilali Well, a god can't just appear either, can they? I think it's probable that there was a universe before our own, and that provided the tiny building blocks for this universe. When I say tiny, I'm talking about molecules and atoms. It's a lot more logical to think that atoms- something small but possibly quite reactive, could come from nothing anyways, as that could go on to react with other atoms, eventually creating molecules, and molecules would go on to form the elements in the periodic table and therefore the right conditions for life on Earth.
      What I'm saying is nobody knows how the universe started. But that doesn't mean theism is any more legit. Where would the energy for a god even come from? My argument here is basically that it makes more sense to go from zero to tiny and invisible to the naked eye (atom) than it is to go from zero to all-powerful being, or at least a being powerful enough to create the foundations of this planet.

      That was a pathetic question really. Asking a christian that would be like me asking you: "If you haven't seen the big bang then why do you believe in it." The only difference is God actually exists with proof while the big bang is just a theory someone made based on observations.

    • @tKrazyBrothers

      I usually simply ask them to prove God exists.
      In response they say something along the lines of, "The universe is so amazing, complex, and unlikely, that there *must* have been someone that created it!"
      I then explain to them how that is not actual evidence. I also ask them, hypothetically, if the universe was created by someone, how do they know it was the Christian God and not some other deity from another religion, or one that no one has even heard of.
      They usually don't respond at that point. If they do respond they usually tell me how I am going to Hell and they are done arguing.

    There are a lot of questions here that might be asked in the right context, especially to make a rhetorical point, or to try to demonstrate a contradiction within a Christian's belief system.
    And let's remember that not every atheist is a bastion of intellect, reason, and skepticism, so yes, some questions from some atheists can be quite stupid.

      Like what questions are you talking about?

    • @Mythraen
      @Mythraen 7 лет назад +2

      Even the very first one, "if there was no such thing as science, wouldn't Christians still think the Earth was flat?"
      That is not a question every atheist would ask every Christian, but it might be something a particular atheist would ask a particular Christian who had expressed anti-science views.
      The problem is that we have no context for these questions, and they might very well have made sense in context. For all we know, the author just trolled (the fishing term) RUclips and Reddit for questions atheists asked in the middle of a discussion.
      The next one is "if God created people in his own image, what about black people?" and Jaclyn acts like "no one would ever ask this! This is absurd." Well, actually, if Christians believe that God made man in his image, then asking why are there so many different looking people could be used to question an apparent contradiction between their beliefs and reality, even if the phrasing of that particular question wasn't the greatest, I think that's the point they were trying to make.
      Hopefully that gets my point across.

It might be stupidly worded, but the underlying intent of the question is legit. The "Why is the story of the Bible any truer than the Lord of the Rings?" is again a legit question used in the context of debate. Such questions don't mean the asker actually thinks the Bible is truer than the Lord of the Rings. I don't understand how Jaclyn can't see this. :/

      I'm sure you've studied history at some point in time. History is a branch of knowledge written by EYE-Witness testimony. You don't have Napoleon fight at the Battle of Waterloo every semester in your history class to evidently see that Napoleon did actually fight at the Battle of Waterloo. No, historic events are written by eye-witnesses who saw the event take place and record it afterwards. So how do you determine if a text is historically reliable or not? you have have some key tests. I have certain tests but please come up with your own if you don't like mine.
      1) internal consistency
      -are there contradictions in the text that point to massive confusion on the part of the authors? the gospels have tremendous internal consistency/harmony
      2) literary style
      -is it "once upon a time.." No, the gospels record that this specific time, place, with this people around Jesus said this/did that/went there. the literary style is not fairy-tale or mythology. but historical narrative.
      3) archaeological evidence
      are we talking about the island of Atlantis out in the ocean where no of us can verify? The Bible emphasis locations such as Bethlehem, Nazareth, Jerusalem, Rome, which are all archaeological verifiable places.
      4) manuscript evidence
      The new testament gospels today are based on over 5,200 Greek manuscripts all agreeing to an infinitesimal degree. There is no document in history that can approach the new testament gospels in manuscript evidence.

      +Alyssa Hoffman that's exactly what I though, they could of said what If he was just a made up character to make Christianity look better in the new testement because the old testement had a "few" problems... *cough* genocide, rape, slavery, women are nothing but servers to men *cough* *cough*

      +sdfweadfwefdw These roman historians were born after jesus died right? if so then their accounts of him existing didn't come from them, they would of been told that he existed, they never actually saw the so called Jesus.

    I love talking with Christians. They give me an insight of how people must have been before the Renaissance Period happens. You know, when people were basically just brainwashed and didn’t have the ability to ask “why”.

      Her answer to the questions are not satirical if that's what you're asking however I think the book might be satirical

      +TheSkypeConverser I'm pretty sure the book is a troll. Take a look at this companion book by the same author, and read the blurb on it: www.goodreads.com/book/show/27222472-1001-questions-god-won-t-answer-for-christians

    I think it is ok to ask questions about religion, but what I have noticed in the comments is that no one respects anyone that disagrees with them and this fact is so sad why can’t we have a discussion (not an argument) and act like adults, ask questions because we want to know and not because we want to prove someone wrong.
    for example: I am a christian and I get asked questions like this all the time(I know weird right), but what they forget is to ask me what I believe they just assume that every christian thinks the same but in fact that is not true, I personally believe there is a god but I don’t believe in the bible because god did not write it.
    Well I just wanted to say that please respect others opinions and don’t try to push someone down because they don’t think the same as you, but rather you should try to learn from others beliefs and stories:)

    My father owns a store and he's an atheist (as am I). He always puts out those "guess how many" jars things. I'm going to see if he'll put out a paper on a jar full of mini crosses that says "How many crucifixions does it take to *actually* kill Jesus? " 😂

    I want to ask these ridiculous questions (specifying that it was from this book), just to see what they would say.
