It's as if he is originally from the place and presenting Cordillera to the world. Thanks for truly being a Filipino in every way you can.

Kalinga and Iloilo on Featr stand out to me because the people in these places have so much passion and respect for their heritage, continuing to plant heirloom crops and passing down generation old recipes of their forefathers. And out of all the Filipino RUclips vloggers and channels out there, FEATR is the only one worth watching. Classy, honest, informative , educational and interesting , all rolled into one . . . That’s how I describe this episode . Erwin and his crew deserves an award . 👏👏👏

Nostalgic. I remembered my childhood at 41. My late uncle has a small lot in Tabuk but I didn't get a chance to visit his place. Mostly he stays here in Manila. I had a glimpse on what life is in Kalinga. Even my late Aunt who was married to a Kalinga Prince. Whenever they go in Kalinga they will gave us a sack of red rice and yes it has a distinct taste and organic. That's one of the best pasalubong we got.
I appreciate Erwan eating the local foods without camera cuts. It's very genuine. He just discovered Philippines first vegan soup 😂. Round of applause as well to the researcher who pursues for this story, and the crew behind the camera that went to this isolated village.
Our food culture tells a story, of our ancestors, not known to many, but not entirely forgotten. Kudos to those who keep the tradition, and speak of it! Salamat, FEATR! 💜
Hi Erwan. Spent 4 months in this region before the internet kicked after my NGO work back in 2010. The place is absolutely magical, away from the rat race and tourism.
Time and time again, Erwan and the entire FEATR crew have consistently provided us with high-quality educational videos. Whether fans or casual viewers of the channel, Filipino or not, they have undoubtedly sparked a love for Filipino food.
Thank you, guys!!! My heart is so full. Don’t stop doing what you do… you make me cherish my culture so much. I even took down notes and will try to cook those dishes Erwan described. The kalabasa with beans, the roasted monggo in cooked down unsweetened coconut milk, the tomato, spring onions and ginger salad…. It’s time for that road trip up north again.
Thank you Erwan for showcasing the culture, the food and the traditions we have in the Philippines. We Filipinos should learn how to appreciate and love the values and cultures that we have. ❤
Growing up as a child we always thought "we're eating only these" now Im living half way around the world and oh these traditional foods are way better, missing them so much.thank you Featr, all the best to your team
Your Northern Luzon vlogs always make me nostalgic about my inang(lola) who recently passed away last September due to colon cancer. I remember I always getting excited when we have to visit her on our bario in Isabela as she always welcomes us with a feast. She will tell my uncles to butcher her native pigs and chickens then we will all eat tinola on her hardwood floor. I haven't visited her for a decade as I moved to Metro Manila to work. Thank you for showcasing our province, Erwan ❤ Kalinga does have a rich culture and living traditions, and this content makes me happy because you are helping our province to be known worldwide❤
❤ Cordillera traditions and culture preserve for the next-generation. I love how Erwin do his vlog. More power. Not just the food but also the culture and traditions involved
The place is truly amazing. Their agri-CULTURE is a heritage that must be protected and preserved. Writing my name in the logbook 3 days after the team left was unreal. I’ve been waiting for this episode since then.
Im from Kalinga and applaud what you portrait here Sir Erwann! Agree with how people before are shy to prepare their food, i remember they would say “pasensya wala kaming pambili ng Sardinas so we just prepare native manok..” in the upper kalingas, the food was really great and nutritious! Also our Market here at Tabuk sell different variety of Kalinga Rice, it’s a must visit too! Thank you! ❤
The singing while harvesting rice and pounding rice to take chaff off, nostalgic and pure! This shows the good, happy and peaceful heartts of the people! Thanks again for this vlog!❤❤❤
I watched till the end without skipping the ads.. it’s cute when Erwan speaks taglish and I can feel that he really love what he’s doing. Keep going Erwan
This type of rice is really one of a kind, healthy, and has significant cultural impact. it must be recognized not only locally but worldwide. we must appreciate where and how our local producers grow our food so we can appreciate what we eat and also love those who bring these food to us.

Grabe! This video shows how abundant Filipino culture is! The production was very creative, making me want to taste all the foods they tried. Kudos to the team!
Hey uh.... I wonder if you guys could bring someone who could write books about the places you go into. As you have said, these information are passed down from generation to generation and I do feel like it's more by the tongue than by literature. If you guys could create a series of books about "The Flavors of the Philippines" with each book containing "The Flavors of Kalinga" or "The Flavors of Pampanga" or something like that, it would be great! Feature the ingredients found locally in each region. How they are planted, grown, and harvested. What are the methods to process them? Do they have a historical background? There are so many questions that are there to be answered. I hope even if it's not you Erwan, a person who reads this could do it. Because I certainly can't due to financial restraints. But hey! Maybe one day, while looking at a bookstore or even online, I'll find your work and I'll be so happy that someone did it.
Every part of this video and every word Erwan said- are worth watching and hearing for. Thank you for doing this, Erwan & team FEATR. We appreciate you guys! ❤️🔥🇵🇭
Watching Featr documentaries should be part of any educational institution's learning curriculum. A lot of Filipinos miss out on their heritage, not knowing their history, where culinary traditions play a big part. And this is why Erwin Heusaff and Featr deserve that James Beard award. May you have more success in the future bringing more awareness to more people with your productions.
This made me even more proud as an yKalinga. Thank you, Erwan and your team, for featuring our humble province. I was born and raised in Kalinga, but I haven't gone to any municipalities aside from Tabuk. Well, it's ironic. I just felt like I visited Pasil through this video. Beautiful place, Beautiful culture, beautiful people and beautiful videos. Thank you for this must-seen Filipino tradition. This kind of video should be played in schools.
As someone who was born and raised in the Cordilleras, I sincerely appreciate that it is highlighted in this documentary not to romanticize this lifestyle. Yes, indeed, it looks beautiful from a tourist's point of view for a a day or 2 but the work MUST never be ignored. I respect how you showed a glimpse (even if it just a little) on the hard physical work.
This is one fascinating documentary video that discover the inner culture of the Kalinga regions. I’m so amazed on how Erwan presented this beautiful gastronomic culture… This is another of your exceptional presentation, so proud of your work of arts…you brought us closer to these regions that maybe very few of us will have the chance of visiting them. Congratulations to you our dearest Erwan and to your Team. Mabuhay and God Bless.
"when you see the process of how things are made, you start realizing that the work is not for the kilo of rice, the work is for the single grain of rice, and you start appreciating every single grain." - a really great takeaway. Great work Erwan and the whole Featr team!
Thank You so much Erwan for sharing this vlog to us..,❤ God bless your good heart my dear son,..and your family as well.💞 Thank you so much too to everyone who contributed their time / talent for this storyvlog especially to Harold, Chester, Monn & Kevin. God bless ❤️

The secret of this snack is the quality of the gelatinous rice that is made into a rough flour. Native red rice and black rice (ballatinaw) are of the best quality
I call Erwan the Filipino Anthony Bourdain. He’s brilliant. World class. Watching from the US and I’m learning so much about our homeland. Tugs at the heart.
FEATR is the only docu-vlog that shows the significance of food mainly- to people, location culture etc.of a particular place. Nice one! Brilliant content.
No words can describe how authentic, neat, rich in knowledge, and endulging Erwan and the Featr team are producing. Like speaking THIS IS US BEING FILIPINOS and our culture through food.
Absolutely amazing story, Erwan. I was actually thinking those dishes were very very healthy and I am sure it taste good too. You're right Erwan, if only Filipinos will eat that way...everyone will be healthy. Watching from Vancouver, Canada. God bless you all!😇
Nothing beats going back to basics. Thank you Erwan for featuring Pasil, Kalinga, what a wealth of knowledge and information from those ladies. Kudos to this whole production, keep it up.
Thank you guys for highlighting the richness and diversity of Filipino cuisines and bringing /showcasing their stories, struggles, and triumphs. These narratives foster a deeper understanding of cultural roots and identity, emphasizing the importance of preserving heritage in a globalized world. One of the few moments when the internet plays a crucial role in this process, providing a platform for education and cultural appreciation, allowing individuals to share their experiences, access resources, and connect with a broader community. It empowers people to celebrate their backgrounds while promoting empathy and awareness among different cultures, making it an invaluable tool for nurturing understanding and appreciation in an increasingly interconnected world.

Goosebumps! What a great production, and a top notch narrative! Thank you for giving the spotlight for Kalinga!
Love the way they let the indigenous people prepare the food because when you join them prepare it might ruin the real process.. Love this video ❤
Food, culture, place, and people = Featr✨
Im from Kalinga and applaud what you portrait here Sir Erwann! Agree with how people before are shy to prepare their food, i remember they would say “pasensya wala kaming pambili ng Sardinas so we just prepare native manok..” in the upper kalingas, the food was really great and nutritious! Also our Market here at Tabuk sell different variety of Kalinga Rice, it’s a must visit too! Thank you! ❤
One of my dream is to bring my feet to kalinga, one day i will go there .
@@DomingaPuaKalinga is waiting for ü

The singing while harvesting rice and pounding rice to take chaff off, nostalgic and pure! This shows the good, happy and peaceful heartts of the people! Thanks again for this vlog!❤❤❤
Nakaka miss.Naluha ako😢😢😢
I watched till the end without skipping the ads.. it’s cute when Erwan speaks taglish and I can feel that he really love what he’s doing. Keep going Erwan
This is very Filipino. I feel proud to be a Filipino. Nice documentation.
This type of rice is really one of a kind, healthy, and has significant cultural impact. it must be recognized not only locally but worldwide. we must appreciate where and how our local producers grow our food so we can appreciate what we eat and also love those who bring these food to us.
Featr is really good at making this kind of documentary. Salute to thr writer, videographer and Erwan. ❤❤
He deserves AWARDS. His contents not only show different “ best foods” of different places of the Philippines but also, the culture, history and the heart of it. ❤
I never skipped adds for the Featr Team ❤❤❤ continue to do more. I'm proud of the people behind. Thank you so much sir Erwin.
My mom is from Kalinga, born and raised in Dangtalan. I can't remember much of the place when we visited as kids, but your perspective made it feel so homely. Thank you for showing this!
Indeed, there are more beautiful things around us. Thank you! 🫡💕
Thank you so much team FEATR and kuya erwan for showcasing this grabe 😭 very raw at talaga Yung hospitality at genuine heart ng mga kakabayan nating Pilipino. Your so amazing guys!!!! 🙌 mas lalo ko pang na appreciate at mamahalin Ang mga kababayan nating local farmers na preni preserve yung culture at pinapasa at tinuturo sa next generation... 🥰🥰 So refreshing 😌
This is the kind of documentary video really worth watching. Kudos to you Erwan. Worth more than just an award.
Proud ikalinga here❤❤ thank u for visiting us,, such an honor for us❤️❤️❤️
Why is that? My tears were like waterfalls and i was not even watching one of anne's romcoms! It might be the love story of the native chicken and the roasted mongo!
Salute to Erwan and the team! Ofcourse i watched til the end...now with an open mind and ❤.
thank you so much for the entire FEATR staff and the Pasil slow food people for their resilience, respect and simply for thriving to preserve our heritage whether it be food, culture and the environment, i appreciate you all.
Wow! That a new tinola recipe...always using fresh ingredients like newly harvested green papaya, monggo (balatong), pigeon peas (kardis), lasona, sili keaves,...and native chicken. And slow cooked on fire using the clay pot (tayab)! Wow, wow, wow...
Erwan endlessly and tirelessly promotes and elevates Filipino culture…thanks to FEATR for fostering to the young the importance and beauty of our being Filipino despite our cultural diversity…
Finally, it's released tagal kung hinintay😊 , thank you so much erwan team for showcasing our unique culture☺
What do you call po dun sa vegan soup how is it made? Curious lang hehe
@@vinielcalimlim7829i think they roast first the monggo then they boiled it and a warm coconut milk wth little bit of salt.
I was able to experience this slow food experience with the people of pasil two years ago. your documentary shows the raw and authentic experience that you get when you are there.
I did watch until the outro, Erwan’s food for a thought and keeping an open mind in exploring different Filipino dishes across the country!! All the best featr team!!
Thank you for featuring our province Kalinga Erwan. This makes me feel happy as i am watching abroad. Missing everything specially the foods, the people, culture and lifestyle.

Beautiful place, Beautiful culture, beautiful people and beautiful videos. Thank you for this must-seen Filipino tradition. This kind of video should be played in schools.
Can we commend the people behind the production>? OMG The best...Keep inspiring us guys!
I’m so amazed on how Erwan presented this beautiful gastronomic culture…
This is another of your exceptional presentation, so proud of your work of arts…you brought us closer to these regions that maybe very few of us will have the chance of visiting them.
Thank You so much Erwan for sharing this vlog to us..,❤
God bless your good heart my dear son,..and your family as well.💞
Thank you so much too to everyone who contributed their time / talent for this storyvlog especially to Harold, Chester, Monn & Kevin.
God bless ❤️
I am from Kalinga and now lives in LA for greener pasture too. I’m happy that I get to watch my hometown thru this vlog & it made me really miss the simple life back home. ❤
Kudos to this whole production, keep it up.
kaya mahal ko parin ang Pilipinas, dahil sa mga ganitong kultara at may mga Pilipinong simply at patas kung mamuhay..
That pot! Gusto ko ding matuto

The love, gratitude, and appreciation I felt poured throughout this video. The connection and respect to earth got me so overwhelmed with tears.
Erwan is not just a creative, but a true critical-minded director, producer, food enthusiast in one! A true earth sign (Capricorn) who feels grounded and craves to be grounded from time to time.
Why did I cry after watching this video? It hits you right through your heart that hey, we are Filipinos and we should be proud. Thank you Erwan.❤ Salute!
I'm truly amazed by how this documentary tells our story-it's not just informative but also reminds us of the rich tapestry of cultures that make the Philippines so special. Seeing the diverse Filipino culture, especially the authentic traditions of Kalinga, really touches me. It shows how resilient and beautiful our heritage is.
I really appreciate what the 'Slow Food Community' is doing to preserve Kalinga's cultural legacy. Their commitment to keeping these traditions alive despite modern challenges is inspiring. It ensures that our children and grandchildren will always have this priceless heritage to cherish and learn from.
Hats off to the incredible FEATR Team for their outstanding work in bringing this story to the world. Their dedication and passion are evident, turning this documentary into more than just a film-it's a celebration of who we are as Filipinos, filled with pride and identity.

Why did I find myself crying watching this? So education, informative and satisfying to watch your channel. ❤️
Watching this brought back my childhood memory. I can remember my entire village come together to make sticky rice in the evening. I sat there and watch them pound the sweet rice into a delicious snack. I moved in the states later on and I cherished those memories alot. How I miss them. Thank you for bringing those memories back.
