I remember seeing one of Opeths first tours in the US. They played down the street for the first time at the Worcester Palladium in the early 2000's. The place was basically sold out and Mikael was almost in tears because everyone in the crowd was singing every word to every song. At one point he stopped playing and told the crowd how greatful they were that there were so many people at the show. He said that he couldnt believe how many people had come and that people knew their lyrics like that. One of the most humble dudes I have ever had the pleasure to listen to speak.

A song which has been dissected a million times on RUclips. A song which some of the biggest names in metal cite as a performance they're utterly in awe of. But no. 5:20 That tells you that adversity can be a great source of strength. The same happened to me when I scored lower than expected on the statistics course at my bachelor program, and it made me obsessed about really learning it well before actually writing the bachelor thesis, and I ended up using a statistics method way beyond what was expected for a bachelor thesis.
That said, adversity can also be a negative thing. For example, when I was 12 and was taking guitar lessons, one day the teacher was sick and they had ordered a substitute teacher, and when I did my usual creative noodling which had nothing to do with the practicing, he said in a firm tone: "stop with that, practice on what I showed you earlier!". That made me stop going to guitar lessons. I didn't stop playing guitar though, but it probably contributed to me developing an ambivalent relationship to the idea of practicing for the sake of becoming good at guitar.

For me, I respect the hell out of Meshuggah and I think it's "good," but I don't generally like it. That's just my opinion, period. But I don't shit on them because of it. Same with any other band. Ah, Opeth! They're known for their complex and lengthy compositions, blending elements of progressive rock, death metal, and other genres. However, let's get into the specifics to see if the 10-minute claim holds up.
    Orchid (1995)
Longest Track: "In Mist She Was Standing" - 14:09
    Album Average: 8:42
    Morningrise (1996)
Longest Track: "Black Rose Immortal" - 20:15
    Album Average: 12:28
    My Arms, Your Hearse (1998)
Longest Track: "Demon of the Fall" - 6:13
    Album Average: 6:15
    Still Life (1999)
Longest Track: "The Moor" - 11:26
    Album Average: 9:48
    Blackwater Park (2001)
Longest Track: "Blackwater Park" - 12:08
    Album Average: 9:22
    Deliverance (2002)
    Longest Track: "Deliverance" - 13:36
    Album Average: 10:42
    Damnation (2003)
Longest Track: "To Rid the Disease" - 6:21
    Album Average: 5:53
    Ghost Reveries (2005)
Longest Track: "Ghost of Perdition" - 10:29
    Album Average: 9:07
    Watershed (2008)
Longest Track: "The Lotus Eater" - 8:50
    Album Average: 7:44
    Heritage (2011)
    Longest Track: "Famine" - 8:32
    Album Average: 6:21
    Pale Communion (2014)
Longest Track: "Faith in Others" - 7:40
    Album Average: 7:02
    Sorceress (2016)
Longest Track: "Strange Brew" - 8:44
    Album Average: 6:29
    In Cauda Venenum (2019)
Longest Track: "Allting Tar Slut" - 8:30
    Album Average: 7:20
To find the overall average length across their entire discography, you'd sum up the average lengths of all songs from each album and divide by the number of albums. After doing the math, the average length of an Opeth song (up to 2022) is approximately 8 minutes and 12 seconds.
So while the 10-minute claim might be a bit of an exaggeration, it's not too far off, especially considering some of their epic tracks.

I tell you never make pr for anything you love EVER. you will wake up to a show like this, with Ghost and sAbAtOn and various InfLuEnCeRs telling you about the Band you bought a record from in 1995.. cant wait to know the opinion of , for instance , the Vanga Boys, Aqua, Or Abba about this Band. See someone puke bleed in slow motion or, Bill Muir, Joe rogan telling you what and how to fart. David hasselhoff you also are into the Shug? Make my life better, tell me.
this content had me jumping into the screen.. Holy F f this, once ive written the the Reaction bit they started comming up..Good lord.. wow. I know people, who are confronted to let other peoples guts digest their products for them and tell them how to behave exist..dont know what "sell out" means but this , even for the worst expectations, crushs everytrhing ive ever seen or heard on a sell out scale, ever.
This is just plain wrong.. And rapes the soul of metal that they brought forward. I know i wrote allot and for idiots that dont get one quarter of what i wrote i appear intollerant.. yet , although not being a prodigy like them..i might just see through what goes on here more clearly than you do.
