Excellent! Many thanks. Amazing that Surface Tracker actually provided the wipe from the wave!

Thanks for the comment! I appreciate it. I wasn't sure if the surface tracker would do what I wanted, so I just decided to give it a go and find out by trial and error. Amazing what you can discover when you just poke around in DaVinci Resolve!

Outstanding video. Your instructions and delivery were perfect. Please keep making the videos. If you’re up to a challenge, I’d like to see a tutorial of using the magic mask in a transition. For example, a rising shot on a building facade that reveals something totally unexpected over the roof line. Great work.

Super tutorial, and the effect really helped produce an engaging Tenerife video. I will donate more of my clips soon; I have a load of them however half belong to clients (paid photoshoots) and the rest are for my Wiltshire video (which I have to make myself to keep the "all my own work" notion of our exhibition!). I will check if I have others that you can use though, and we will get out for a photoshoot ourselves. I have a place in mind.

Wow!....u make this look easy and it does look great... and u have never made up a floating text before? Cudos to u that u have a mind that is quite comfortable with DR 18 Studio. My mind tends to fight it rather than flow with it ensuring it takes me longer than it should.
Like you, I have never created a text on surface graphic before but I want too and have been scouring RUclips for an approriate tutorial. Then there was U! I kid u not that this was the last tutorial I bumped into tonight, beforehand I was quite dishartenedand frustrated at the lack of success/progression.
I wonder if I could put a question to u please....the aerial scene I have in mind decends towards the ground as a harvester cuts hay in a paddock. The wording during decent would simply be "Harvesting Season" till the camera stops at a certain point.
Your tute explains a lot yet mine needs an additional step and I would be grateful if you could suggest how to achieve maintaining the text proportionally in the frame and always in the correct position during the decent to stop.
It has been a pleasure seeing your work and approach to conveying information to the mere mortals amongst you. Cheers

Thanks for the really positive comments!
From your description, I'm not entirely sure what effect you're trying to achieve. If you want the text to track the surface of the hay, the method I explained should work and it will hold its position when the camera stops moving. If the camera has stopped but the hay keeps moving (in the wind for example), then the text will keep moving along with the surface of the hay.
However, if you want your text to remain static but move according to a point on the screen that stops when the camera stops moving, this is a different technique. I recommend this video by DanVinci that might explain what you're looking for?

      I hope that helps!

any ideas how to add fusion titles instead of text on that surface tracker?? i had seen one but using after effect.. randomizer text that shuffle the letter one by one then tracked behind object

Hi, thanks for the question! I'll be the first to admit that Fusion is like kryptonite to me - I don't use it much and find it confusing. For this video the Fusion workflow was pretty simple so I took the time to learn it. If I was going to try it again with your request, I guess I would create the Fusion title (or experiment with an image like a PNG) and then try plugging that in to the Surface Tracker node (instead of Text, at 7;29 in the video) - then just run it and see what comes out. Trial and error seems to work for me!
