      Excuse my ignorance but what type of 9 volt adapter do I use for this since it has 300ma listed? Can it be plugged directly into the wall or do I need to buy an isolated pedalboard power supply? I know nothing about any of this since I’m just beginning to learn electric guitar.

      @@MsAppassionata you will need a 9 volt adaptor. Rated at 300ma or higher. Negative center pin polarity. I will link a adapter in the pinned comment.

    If I record a clean tone to loop then change the amp to a distorted tone (or any other effect or tone), the loop then goes from clean tone to distorted max. I want to keep the loop clean. Is there a way I can do this? Basically, I want to have the clean loop playing while I jam over it with a distorted tone.

    • @HankCoffey
      @HankCoffey  2 года назад +1

      The distortion source has to be in front of the pedal. With a amp, the pedal should go in the effects loop. In this video, my clean and distortion sounds are before the pedal.

    For the money, I dare say the drums sound just as good as the Beat Buddy, at least the Beat Buddy Mini 2. The only patterns I'm not too thrilled with are the disco patterns. Rather the sounds, not the actual patterns. Took a while to get used to the sync feature, and I personally feel the tap tempo is unnecessary with the dial in tempo already included. I got this pedal for that feature because I hated the tap tempo on my Boss RC3. Also, the downloadable loop manager only stores the recorded loop without the rhythm pattern, so if you somehow accidentally change the pattern and tempo on a loop, you have to do some fishing to match the tempo back. Still an overall great product for the money!

  • @robertbuck7186
    @robertbuck7186 3 года назад +1

    I hope that this pedal is better than the Boss RC-2....I have an older Boss RC-2 and what I experience In short if you dont have time read t the first sentence::: no metronome intro to introduce tempo and with the boss Rc-2 when it comes to errors mostly you end up with an unwanted second fill or a mistake you made that you cant undo and you also have trouble saving as second loop by use of the foot switch even when you are just jamming on top of a sample... when you dont want to save one...you must save it first and then play it back with properly selected rotary switch setting that you have to bend up and down to see and select properly. IF you are interested then read on..
    1)problems While trying to sample: The drum machine is not present when trying to lay down your first rhythm which can make you out of tempo... their is no intro metronome click so its up to you to count down and step on the pedal on time
    2) when layering and adding to the rhythm it can get messy because although their is an LED light change from green to red too yellow for the second rhythm or fill you ad you can be messed up by your own foot coordination of just when you want to put the fill and cut out the first part of the note And while working with the pedal you can not "undo" a second track that you put down so the whole recording becomes something with a repeating mistake in the loop....
    3)also in the process of using your sample just to jam with some lead or a fill that want to put over a nicely layered sample with the drums and everything working with just the way that you want it..when you step on the pedal it will go from red to green or yellow when trying to stop the recording of the next fill or idea and still mess up the entire sample which have to erase.... I haven't tried to just to let it continue to sample when the led is in yellow mode for the second lick or fill and wait to save it or add it and you should be able to do this with your foot.... but it can all come down like a house of cards as soon as you make any one of these mistakes playing in your foot coordination trying to achieve what they tell you about how the pedal operates.. you will get the yellow LED when you just want to quit and save the sample.... it gets frustrating just trying to put down one rhythm track and one lead....
    4) When saving you can act select the sample that you saved through a rotary switch on the correct setting that you saved it on which also requires bending down to get to that rotary switch... but you can accidentally change the drums to that saved sample in the background also as I recall.... very confusing pedal for me...
    This Donner Looper seems to have a metronome type intro and plays the drums in the background while putting down the sample which is something that I am either not getting right about the metro intro and drums working while putting down your sample on my Boss RC-2.

    • @HankCoffey
      @HankCoffey  3 года назад

      I have no idea Robert. I just turn knobs on stuff. I didn't even read the manual first. When the drums are linked with the looper, the pedal starts the loop in time with the drums. I should have figured out the undo/redo... that is real useful if you mess up.

    thank you so much for making this video, I bought this pedal before i seen your video, and I wasn't sure if i bought the right thing. Now that I seen your video, I know i made the right choice, now I just need to search for a walk through on recording my own loops and I also need to find out how to connect it to my macbook OSX so i can transfer tracks to the pedal, any info is much appreciated and I apologize for not find your video sooner and using your link to purchse this, I apologize about that, Gonna sub to your channel so i can bug you in th future about other gear, if you don't mind :) thanks! oh by the way this is the best pedal for the price, i had the Boss RC-10, and I will never spen another dollar on Boss products, first one that i got the USB port was fried, right out of the box, then they sent a replacement and garanteed that it would work, same P.O.S. this time it stayed on reformatting, and i didn't even hit that option, i just got my Donner, I still have to learn how to use it, but seem pretty easy, and I know for sure and i bet my life that this pedal is way better than those high dollar loopers that have poor sounding drums like the rc-10 and this pedal i caid almost 400 dollars, and they never worked right out of the box. but the Donner right out of the box I haven't made a loop yet, hear the drums and dried out those nobs and settings and the drums sound freaking awesome, so this video confirmed that i made the correct purchase, thanks again for this video, a more in depth on how to record loops and transfer files back and furth to the computer would be great and what software do i need for the Donner or where can i download it for macbook running OSX, thanks

They can try to find someone else that will mix that mess. I did a test live yesterday on Twitch, just testing out guests. I had Gonzalo and Michael on. It works, but I have to use my older camera. It's doesn't look as good... and no green screen. You can check it out if you want. www.twitch.tv/videos/995458696
      Just scan forward to Gonzalo and Michael... or whatever.

    Good vid here from Hank. My only gripe is that I'm new to pedals and recently bought a Donner min looper. Like Hank, as a looper it's pretty good. But it's the same functionality issue when attempting to transfer your loops to a PC or laptop. Even if you download the software and try get you stuff, it just doesn't work. Donner seem to have abandoned that part of the deal, so for me, I'm out. If anyone figures out a work around I'd be happy to hear it.

    The drums sounded surprisingly good however I’d would have rather had more patterns than styles. They could at least replace hip hop with country as a genre. There isn’t much guitar in hip-hop. I had a similar product from digitech that would also add bass although this is not only less expensive but you can add your own bass with as bass or an octave effect.

    YES!!! Circle Looper's beats per minute sync "close enough" so we can easily hit the looper button and the loop "quantizes" or stops on the bar, or close enough it does NOT hiccup and get further off with each loop cycle (on some Beat Buddy beats ONLY, because Beat Buddy beats get recorded with human drummers, so they too are not as accurate as digital. Who cares? Record the Beat Buddy into the loop! TAKE NOTES OF CIRCLE LOOPER DRUM AND TEMPO for your loops, in case you need to recreate, or move slots. Seems circle looper's software handles the metadat about its beats and tempo, so write things down to edit .WAV loops in Audacity for loundess, EQ, etc. and import new WAV files into the clooper. Circke Looper uses 24 bit, and Boss RC-3 uses 16 bit, so pay attention when you edit/export/save/create the file in Audacity, for example. I love my Circle Looper! I did cover the looper button with a cap to avoid mistakenly hitting it during a step to Stop, which avoids going into Record mode and polluting your backup loop.
