      @@fruitygranulizer540 at the very first press conference before the very first match I think, Ding was asked whixh chess plauers he takes as eole-model. And Ding counted Magnus too and added: He is clearly the best in our time. But no, Nepo doesn't know it, don't be naive. Nepo does think he is actually better than Magnus with his inner potential and he believes that someday everybody in the chess community will see that, should see that

    Its funny i was listening to this famous marathon and ultra runner on the Nick Bare podcast. They were talking about in his life of constantly having this chip on his shoulder of thinking he needs to be the best of the best, training rigorously nonstop, and never thinking he’s enough despite being one of the most athletic in the world. Always trying to prove something to the world. I also remember him mentioning how miserable all that success ended up making him feel. This is who Ding reminds me of. One of the greatest chess grandmasters the world has seen. Keeps winning. Always has this chip on his shoulder and now needs to defend his title of being the best of the best. Just goes to show you too much of anything, even success can make a man miserable. Must always seek that perfect balance in life. I hope he finds peace in his life

    • @BlindBishop
      @BlindBishop  Год назад +6

      I would say that having "mixed feelings" is not the degree of happiness most people would assume from a person who just became World Champion, so in my opinion it's not misleading. However, I don't want to clickbait, so what would you propose as video title? 😊

    • @stevenzheng1401
      @stevenzheng1401 Год назад

      @@BlindBishop You can just say "has mixed feelings". Couple things:
      - English is weird. When you say "not bad", it usually has a slight positive/"good meaning". When you say something went "not great", it usually means it went somewhat "bad". NOT SO HAPPY has a slight negative meaning in my opinion, which is a bit misleading, whereas as mixed is exactly as is -- there are clearly some happy thoughts but it's also tempered with the weight and considerations for what it might mean for his future. (Sorry if you're a native english speaker, I don't mean to lecture)
      - I actually think he is more happy than the opposite, he is just showing restrain, control, and deep consideration for his emotion. To think through over both the winning and losing outcome of a massive match, and have it decided within the span of the last few minutes is incredibly stressful, regardless of what happens. Some people cope with this by tempering their feelings BOTH ways -- that means you don't burst out in joy if you win, but you also don't break down in tears if you lose. I say this because I do the same. I believe he is HAPPY, but he mutes his emotions (part of his personality I believe).

    Twenty twenty - unlucky Ding Liren
    Two years forward - candidates in Spain
    Nepo was the champion there - plain
    Magnus was bored and so he declined
    At that Ding came forward - surprised
    Magnus with sun-glasses was partying
    While battling harsh; Nepo and Ding
    Magnus was chilling, others - focusing
    A focus so intense, that Ding was sitting
    Holding his head his two hands using
    Whereas Nepo was like a shark circling
    Nepomniachtchi was wearing pink
    They wrote history by using ink
    Botezs - dancing, Magnus - drunken
    Was never leaving the table Ding Liren
    Both fought till the end with bravery and honor
    From Kazakhstan was coming a chess odor
    Rapport's company, Ding's endless fight
    Led them to flying above, out of sight
    In China, the Ching and Ming dynasty, and now Ding
    Not as an ordinary Liren, but as King The Winning
    Thus, like this bear of Russia and dragon of China faced
    And the dragon roasted the bear, cuz it was on crest
    The bear looked fierce, it's attacks are ire
    Though the dragon breathed out the fire
    And so like this was the song of chess sung
    As Ding wants his childhood photo will be hung
