This looks like a better hike than the observation point hike from the east entrance . More scenic views along the way . The observation point hike from the valley was special before they had to close the trail . I like this one and I'll do it next time I'm there , thank you .
I agree, the old Observation Point hike was so good, so much to look at along the way. This one was similar, each section was different and interesting. Thanks for watching, happy hiking!
Great video! Thanks for sharing. How far did you go up on West Rim Trail (past Scout's Landing)? I'm curious to know if going up to Cabin Spring is needed for max views although regardless, it looks gorgeous now matter how far past Scout's Landing we hike! (note - I do not plan on day hiking the entire west rim trail to Lava Point so just trying to figure out how I might like to go).
Thanks for watching! We went less than a mile past Scout’s lookout, to the big white plateau (I can’t figure out if it actually has a name). From looking at a map it looks like cabin spring isn’t too much farther, but it looked like a fair bit of uphill so we just rested in the shade and turned around. I’m sure the views from cabin spring are excellent, but honestly the views from the plateau were amazing, and we were the only ones there so it was so peaceful. Scouts lookout was a zoo, and the little animals are aggressive there, so it wasn’t a good place to stop and rest. Side note, my take for max views in zion other than west rim would be observation point via mesa trail, it’s flat and easy but you do have to drive around to the trailhead. I’m working on that video too right now :)
Only 7 comments in one year. West Rim trail is what you are on from the river. People think it’s Angel’s Landing trail. Definitely a pro tip to walk right past Scout Lookout and keep going. I hiked 1.5 hours past Scout Lookout and turned around to not miss last shuttle bus. Got as far as West Rim Springs. Gets you away from all the humans.

How many Miles was this hike? Thanks!
Around 4.8 miles round trip from Grotto trailhead to our turnaround at the plateau, plus 1 mile round trip to and from the lodge. Thanks for watching!

That’s amazing to make it all the way to West Rim Springs, what a great way to escape the crowds and enjoy Zion’s beauty! Thanks for watching!
@@kmacgoes thanks for being you. I saw 4 other humans. It was a Wednesday mid November.
