    Oxide you forgot about sphere CS, That stands for super cursed. Thing is, you can combine 2 fucking sphere helmets into one. And i don't mean mix the plates. You can put 2 complete sets of plates one inside the other, which is super fucking cursed. This was bothering me for some time and i stripped both of my spheres, and they fucking fit perfectly. You can pretty much make monstrum with high carbon layer with titanium plate under it. I don't think any other helmet construction allows for this level of fuckery.

Instead, they typically stop exactly what they say they'll stop and what they're rated for- or above that, somewhat.

    This leaves me curious as to why they(Spetsnaz) dont like the Sfera, is it the lack of a suspension system, does it shift around weird, or there just being better options out there. Would love to learn more about that aspect, and perhaps I forgot if you had mentioned it in the general history vid. I just find it interesting how it seems to be the only helmet (That I know of) that is build in 3-4 pieces and thrown in a bag, and for some reason enjoy it for that and its unorthodox look (Also just a sucker for 80s-90s oddball ideas thrown at the wall during the late cold war).

    • @robertclark1669
      @robertclark1669 6 месяцев назад

      Some units that are considered Spetsnaz do actually employ the Sfera helmets, or rather they did up until the mid 2000s. You may already know this but Spetsnaz is a catch all term for all manner of special purpose units organized in the Russian Federation. They are not bound to one organization, unit, command or even supplier. The particular units that used the Sfera were notably units of the Internal forces such as the MVD or the FSB. Essentially they are the special forces units of the National Guard of Russia but they also function as Police troops, Border Guards and hostage rescue units. They employed such helmets because it was believed that it would instill more confidence in the troops as they were frequently engaging in room to room fighting with rebels and criminals. The helmets were employed first in the late 1970s in the form of the early Altyn designs and the Sfera 81 which was used both in the Soviet union and in Afghanistan with Special forces of the Russian Army. During the dissolution of the Soviet Union the newer Sfera 94 came into service yet this time it was also being used by OMON which is an extensive series of regional Special Police units that exists in every Oblast of Russia. Throughout the 1990s and the 2000s the helmets were used extensively during both Chechen Wars, various hostage crisis situations and civil unrest scenarios. The helmets themselves came to be representative of the Internal ministry and Special police, this created a cultural consideration in the Russian Armed Services as a whole. For example in the United States it's simply understood that MARPAT is an exclusive of the United States Marine Corps thus nobody in the US Army is going to wear it even if given the chance. So Sfera was rarely worn by anyone outside of the Internal troops or Special Police because it was so strongly associated with those groups that other units rarely dared to don them or even had the opportunity to. In the Modern day most of these helmets have been relegated to storage or second line use as more modern designs based upon Western helmets have begun to supersede these helmets because of increased protection, lower weight and easier integration with newer technology such as rail systems and go-pro cameras.

      tbh not that much, the ear area isn't covered by padding inside the helmet. I would say its the same as rest of the helmets that cover up the ears.

      My opinion is just heavy. Bought one a lil ways ago on ebay. Other than that it felt very comfortable with all the padding

      Удобные. На голове не болтаются, зимой тепло. Трудно поднять голову лёжа на животе. Задний край шлема упирается в шею, приходится приподниматься на локтях.

    While all of this equipment looks uncomfortable as shit I just can not get myself to not love the aesthetics of this equipment together with the rest from the 90s up to early 2000s, on another note it is also sad that a lot of games do not portray the helmets right, they are a lot weaker usually than in real life IMO.

    • @RickyJ137
      @RickyJ137 3 года назад +1

      For Tarkov the helmets were originally planned to be weaker. But, then the devs realized nobody would wear the helmets if the didn't do anything and as such they buffed the helmets to unrealistic performance levels.

      @@RickyJ137 is there a helmet irl that is as good as the altyn is in tarkov or are all helmets irl only pistol rated. If so kinda a let down surely someone decided to just get some thick steel or titanium to make a rife rated helmet

      @@lamas93866 what if you made a chest plate that connected to the helmet, this would not allow you to turn your head but would distribute the force of the bullet allowing your neck to not break but this probably would dramatically increase weight and if you are gonna commit to something like that may as well make a full body suit
