I have a suggestion to improve your videos: Please try to include a sample of the sound each of the "Species Spotlight" animals make because that is really important to distinguish them properly or for the viewers to recognize them easier.
Thanks so much. I try to get animal sounds in my videos when I can, but most of the time if I am at a zoo (like I was here) all I get is people talking, so that is why the sound from the actual video is turned down.
They are a beautiful species and very intelligent, just like a raccoon is, but they are a K-9 and they are both skinned alive for there fur. And neither one of these species CARRIES rabies they must come in contact with it, just like you or I would have to and be bit. Also just because you see a raccoon out during the day doesn't make it a sick raccoon, mother raccoons will go out during the day and seek for food while her young are sleeping. Thank you for the video I have always loved and cared for raccoon dogs and raccoons.
Basically there are lot of cases that raccoon dogs carry rabies and other parasites. The fact that they can survive to most of the habitats (due to their wide spectrum of food preferences) has caused lot of troubles to European ecosystems as raccoon dog is an invasive species, spreading rabbies and other parasites to the local fauna.
Don't worry myself and many others are speaking up and fighting! So many renowned fashion designers are ditching fur and even some companies!! It's tough to fight fur in Canada, due to the history.. But we are making progress. It will take time.
@@Sassy_Witch the sad reality is that many of the people who buy fake fur coats (like a fur rim on the hood) think they buy a fake fur one, but they are actually sold a real fur one often times made from these cute raccoon dogs

They are called “Neoguri” in Korean. Raccoon dogs are very common wild animals (thus...common victim of car accidents) in Korea as their bigger rivals became extinct on the Korean Peninsula during 20th century (tigers, leopards, wolves, dholes, and even foxes).
A raccoon dog is any dog comprising of the genus Nyctereutes, while there are a majority of extinct species, only two species still remain, the Chinese Raccoon Dog (Nyctereutes Procyonoides) and the Japanese Raccoon Dog (Nyctereutes Viverrinus), raccoon dogs are also members of the subtribe Vulpina from the tribe Canini, surprisingly, the closest living relative of the raccoon dogs is the Bat-Eared Fox (Otocyon Megalotis), the second closest living relatives of the raccoon dogs are the Corsac Fox (Alopex Corsac), Arctic Fox (Alopex Lagopus), Kit Fox (Alopex Macrotis), and Swift Fox (Alopex Velox) (collectively known as white foxes).
The closest you can get to raccoon dog from a domesticated animal would be the keeshond (dog breed). They look a little similar. Many breeds of domestic dog out there that resemble their wild cousins.
Thank you for educating us ignorant humans - stuck in our miserable and narrow minded world of money and politics - and being a voice for the rest of the living beings - accomplishing a true purpose of compassion by teaching us about the beauty of life & nature 💖🙏
Rijka: just because you "wants" an animal doesn't mean it would make a good pet. Wild animals are beautiful and cool, yes, but please allow them to remain where they belong- IN THE WILD, and get a dog or cat, both of which species have been domesticated and make perfect companions.
In countries like Sweden it's an invasive species that is devastating to the local wildlife especially birds. But let's appreciate this cute and cuddly little destroyer of our nature...
+Abe The Conservationist They are an invasive species in most countries. Sweden is actively trying to eradicate them. They eat reptiles and nesting birds and can wipe out the reptile ecosystem in large numbers. Conservation is not always pleasant but necessary.

They do make good pets if captive bred & bottle fed by the owner, and only if kept in pairs. They don't do well on their own as they are pact canines. They have only a short life span, though. Lots this video misses out on, and is slightly incorrect in area's like the hibernation (they are the only canines to be able to do this, by the way), but they only do this in certain conditions and don't hibernate in captivity unless you leave them in the snow. They are also quite different than a fox in terms of food consumption, habitat, behaviour etc + a fox is nocturnal. It also depends on what fox, too!
Racoon dogs also work at stores and make you pay huge amounts of bells just so you can expand your damn house

Cases of raccoon dogs carrying rabies are known from the lower Volga, Voronezh and Lithuania.
Technically, any mammal can catch rabies, and that includes tanuki.
Patricia Patton Skinned alive? I don't know a single Hunter who has skinned an animal alive. Don't know if it's different in Asia
