Very professional and instructive tutorial. After studying and practicing everything I know technically in photography for many years, I got tired of my photos. Recently I have been looking for new ways to approach my photography and have been looking into fine art photography. This is certainly one way I will be trying. Thank you for taking the time to present this.
Hi Murray, excellent explanation of ICM. It's good to change and photograph with more freedom and creativity. ICM allows us to take photos anywhere. Thank you for teaching us this technique. Big hug, here from Brazil.
Thank you very much!! This is the best tutorial on ICM that I've seen. I haven't been very successful so far but after seeing this video I hope to do much better. Love your photos!!
Thank you for posting this very well made - and very enjoyable video. You created some wonderful images with ICM - I will definitely be having a go at the technique. Subscribed ❤️
Really enjoyed this ICM video and some of the results were very good. I have done a lot of ICM over the years and it's very creative. Thanks for your technique tips.
❤ ❤ recently came across ICM . rely enjoyed you expanations and examples. thanks for this doing this. I'm primarily a B & W devotee so looking forward to exploring ICM. zen billings in canada .
Really enjoyed your video and the calm, peaceful vibe - will try some ICM, we have quite similar seascapes and weather here on Ireland’s West Coast. Liked and Subscribed
Hi Mark, thanks for the comment. It's not super critical as the images will likely be "blurry" anyway. Sometimes the stabilisation can help with getting smooth panning images though so I tend to just leave it on. Cheers :)
Hi thx for the video and advice but for someone who are just starting with icm and that’s on a tight budget which filter would you recommend as first filter. Is it polarizing or ND and would it be for example Nisi VN 1-5 and 5-9 or just a fixed 3, 6, 10 stop. Thx
Cheers Douglas! Sorry for the late reply. I would recommend a fixed ND. My most used is probably a 6 stop or ND64. There are many good brands out there and I would encourage you to do some research to make sure you get filters that don't cause any colour casts (provided you make colour images!).
Thanks! Most of the time, I can achieve focus through my ND filters (even using a 10 stop), but 99% of the time I use a ND64 so it's not too dark to focus. Otherwise I will focus before I put the ND on and use a small enough aperture to ensure any depth of field needed is achieved. However, as often everything is blurred/moving with ICM, critical focus isn't super important. Hope that helps :)
Refreshingly clear and concise. Informative and a pleasure to view. Congratulations all round.
Wow, that was awesome Murray, some very artistic images, will have to give it a try.

Thanks Ian! Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Well done and informative. TY
You have such beautiful things to capture! Here in Ohio we have nothing here except the lake so my subjects are so limited!
Great video! 👍🏻 rug-sack brand/model?
Thanks Anders! The bag in the video is a Shimoda camera bag :) Cheers
Thank u for this video, very informative! Have you tried any of the Lensbaby lenses? They are great for this type of photography
Will give it a go. Thanks for the video.
Sounds great, hope you enjoy!
Can you tell me if you disable IBIS? It makes sense to me that you would but thought I would ask😊

@@MurrayLivingstonThank you! Much appreciated! Cheers.
What focal distance of lens do you recommend for a beginner? Thanks
I used a ND to have success finally with this ! Very frustrating stuff 💯 ! Once to het your exposure right ot start getting down hill from there ! 👍 👌
what aperture are you using with this technique
Great demo. Pedantic point: the root of the word photography is derived from Greek, not Latin. 😉

@@MurrayLivingston hi yeah a bit late 😂 but it’s ok I’ve gone with the Nisi 1-5 + 4 stop and so far mostly use the 1-5 VND
@@dougsphoto Haha yeah, I don't get notified as it's via the Picfair account not my own. ICM is pretty forgiving so I hope you've had some success!
@@dougsphoto P.S. I've just seen you photograph wildlife in Kruger - looks like some cool work. I can't wait to go back in March!
Very nice vid. Incredible images.. Can I ask how you focus throught the ND filters? Or do you just leave the lens at infinity? Thanks

Do you actually need to carry that huge camera bag?
