LOLOL Hybrids and electrics have been tried LONG before the 70's.
"Battery electric" cars have been around since the very late 1800's/early 1900's. And they failed back then, just are they failing with consumers now.

Cut the price of EV's to the same as ICEV's (I can get a nice 'regular' car for $25k) AND give me a lifetime replacement on the WHOLE battery pack (because I'm not doling out $15,000 to replace the battery in just 10 years)...and then we'll talk.
The Chinese govt. Should give away to the Chinese people for free all EVs, because it couldn't sell it in foreign countries.

Having just bought a brand new ev at half price , Couldn’t care less about a battery replacement ,I’ll just buy a new car in seven years time.
