same with Punk and Kingston. They did such a great job building such a massive feud in a short space of time, and having that little taster of their brawl and then never even appearing on camera together again (the parking lot doesn't count really) really lit a fire underneath it all.

The irony of that "WrestleMania main event" crack is that everyone on the roster at the time (2013), including Cena and Rock, felt that Punk deserved a main event slot at WM 29.
To be honest, I loved Punk Vs Taker and I would've liked to have seen that match be for the title. Because the build up to that match was interesting and made me want to see the match. The build up to Cena Vs Rock II was lacking, which is a shame because I actually did want to see them face each other again, but only because I thought maybe one of them would turn heel, and there would have been more aggression and heat between them, but alas. Punk I think would've been the literal third wheel in the Rock and Cena deal, so having him do his own thing I think was the way to go, it's just a shame it didn't main event the show.

Punk's character would hammer that particular button to rile up Taker into forgetting about the streak and beat him up to the point where it would force a DQ victory for Punk. There were certainly teases for Cena to turn heel (the seemingly desperate edge in his voice when he said, "I HAVE to win."), but it ultimately went nowhere other than Cena making a joke about it post-Mania.
I’m not jk when i say this, this might be one of the most clever moments in wrestling history and since AEW takes records and DQs seriously it just made it that much better.
Punk has to do this again and again, and apologize to the opponent for humor 🤣 then get revenge matches for the people whose ass he kicks 🤣 the storylines write themselves
It's kayfabe. Sure, it's manipulated for story purposes, but we don't complain about easily-distracted or glass jaw refs, wrestlers going for a "flying nothing" to set up a counter spot, or doctoring the time between entrances in rumble matches to keep the pace up. It's just another tool in AEW's storytelling arsenal which can add another layer to the booking when necessary.

So a person could wrestle 3 matches in a single week, getting 3 wins that were all taped at the same show. Luckily I trust them that they will keep treating the records seriously so that probably won't happen.

That's what I like about AEW, their promos are not scripted, it's just one of them or TK with an idea and a few bullet points off the idea and they fill in the blanks out there.

This feud has been gold, top quality storytelling so far, and I really want it to be long lasting and become memorable. They made the perfect choice with these two! AEW is killing it!!! Last year we had Kenny Omega delivering the best matches whilst Chris Jericho was holding it down for the Promos. Now we have Bryan Danielson delivering the best matches whilst these 2 tear it up on the mic. What a time to watch pro wrestling!
The Mania digs were great from MJF & Punk coming back with the release line which we seen a 2 year surge of that & now we're in the 3rd year with already starting it only a matter of time with Punk's approval obviously for MJF to mention April Mendez then things are really going to get heated up another great segment from these two & I am looking forward to their match which is pretty much set for Revolution.
I think this feud only ends in one way, that MJF can’t get a title shot-at ANY TITLE, including Tag Title, TNT Championship, World Title, anything, until he finally gets in the ring with Punk. It’s the only way this feud ends.

This is awesome booking. Wardlow's been looking unstoppable lately and Punk is undefeated. This match is but a pit stop on the way to Punk vs. MJF and yet is in itself huge. It's like facing Goro right before Shang Tsung.
Also provides an opportunity for Wardlow to finally turn on MJF. I can almost see Wardlow getting pissed at MJF partway through his match with Punk, leaving and getting counted out. This facilitates Wardlow's face turn AND preserves Punks streak.
@@nOT_sURE08 trust me, AEW are going to keep the slow-burn with Wardlow going for a while yet, making sure when it finally happens it's going to be explosive with the fans and be a genuinely massive blow to MJF. I like your idea of Wardlow walking out, makes the most sense. Of course Punk is going over Wardlow that much is obvious, but I've been trying to think how it could be done that not only serves the feud but protects everybody involved; there's too much organic chemistry with Wardlow and the fans right now to just job him out to Punk, his momentum needs protecting just as much as the other guys. To protect Wardlow and CM Punk's momentum, I've got a feeling Shawn Spears will interfere causing Punk to win via DQ or alternatively Spears will attempt to involve himself, distracts Wardlow and gives Punk an opening to GTS for the win, that way it doesn't really hurt Wardlow and still plays into his slow burn storyline

The Mania digs were great from MJF & Punk coming back with the release line which we seen a 2 year surge of that & now we're in the 3rd year with already starting it only a matter of time with Punk's approval obviously for MJF to mention April Mendez then things are really going to get heated up another great segment from these two & I am looking forward to their match which is pretty much set for Revolution.
That I can actually see happening. Punk goes through Wardlow next week, then Shawn Spears, and then FTR to finally get his hands on MJF.
Even if she doesn't get brought up, I would love to see aj lee (even if it's just under April Brooks) make a return in aew.

I think this feud only ends in one way, that MJF can’t get a title shot-at ANY TITLE, including Tag Title, TNT Championship, World Title, anything, until he finally gets in the ring with Punk. It’s the only way this feud ends.

MJF is gold , absolutely amazing on the mic , the crowd turns and starts to support MJF and he has to do something to turn them back against him . The crowd chanting Pg punk was awesome , just shows you how even as a heel people appreciate MJF , now cm punk was fantastic , just how he is so charismatic just by been him self , both have made the build and the mic battles better than some of the actual wresting match’s we see on dark and rampage . This feud has no looser just showcasing how great a build feud can be with 2 top level mic and ring personalities
Ironically enough, even Shawn Dean got something out of it; A win on Dynamite. And he's the only one who got knocked out. 🤣

This is awesome booking. Wardlow's been looking unstoppable lately and Punk is undefeated. This match is but a pit stop on the way to Punk vs. MJF and yet is in itself huge. It's like facing Goro right before Shang Tsung.
Also provides an opportunity for Wardlow to finally turn on MJF. I can almost see Wardlow getting pissed at MJF partway through his match with Punk, leaving and getting counted out. This facilitates Wardlow's face turn AND preserves Punks streak.
@@nOT_sURE08 trust me, AEW are going to keep the slow-burn with Wardlow going for a while yet, making sure when it finally happens it's going to be explosive with the fans and be a genuinely massive blow to MJF.
I like your idea of Wardlow walking out, makes the most sense. Of course Punk is going over Wardlow that much is obvious, but I've been trying to think how it could be done that not only serves the feud but protects everybody involved; there's too much organic chemistry with Wardlow and the fans right now to just job him out to Punk, his momentum needs protecting just as much as the other guys. Wardlow losing his shit with MJF and just walking out does just that.

To protect Wardlow and CM Punk's momentum, I've got a feeling Shawn Spears will interfere causing Punk to win via DQ or alternatively Spears will attempt to involve himself, distracts Wardlow and gives Punk an opening to GTS for the win, that way it doesn't really hurt Wardlow and still plays into his slow burn storyline

Just like it would be pointless if MJF interferes too. Because I would like to see a match that doesn't involve interference. Because Wardlow will destroy Punk and defeat him.

I never watched a full episode of AEW, but this feud is amazing. MJF is wild on the mic and Punk only says what needs to be said. Amazing chemistry between these two. I can't stop laughing at the roasts lol
