About time you posted this race, Adeleke is a real star and she is only at the beginning of her career
Atta boy!!🇮🇪
She's a dumb animal She's got delusions of grandeur thinking she's irish she should represent her own country
Those strides were too much for Wilson to overcome, Adeleke has some serious potential as a newcomer to the 400.
That and the running load, adeleke and her coaches were smart, she didn’t go hard in the prelims like britton did btw i don’t blame britton I blame her coaches
@@hurdlegod4933 Briton agreed to do the double, so some of the blame should be on her.
Her strides are dangerous
@@hurdlegod4933 Britton would have been fine even with going out as hard as she did in the prelims if she wasn’t trying to run two events. It’s a heroic attempt don’t get me wrong but it’s not realistic to try and medal in both events especially when they’re arguably the two hardest races and close to each other on the schedule. I still don’t know how she did it last year 🤷🏿♂️
@@shamarharvey6117 I agree, also those two events are so close to each other on the schedule. Britton should have just chosen one or the other and did the 4x4.
As a former collegiate 400 meter runner myself....to see her run 49.20 and say she hasn't figured it out yet??? That should concern all the elite 400 meter runners because.....she's gonna figure it out.....wow!!! Amazing sprint!!!
@@ft1339 serious talent
@ft1339 Yes. One thing almost every sprinter will admit they really detest....is running into the wind. That resistance is really felt & makes you expend even more energy when you're already maxed out. Really impressive running...definitely high 48's in calm conditions
@ft1339 You are correct. The Commentator said all of that & he was pretty much spot on. I think the comment about Britton was probably his thinking that Adeleke is bigger & stronger, therefore able to power through the wind easier. Bigger usually means more resistance, so not sure I personally subscribe to that theory. Britton ran 49.64. Another great time to me under those conditions. I haven't seen Britton's other videos...but I will go find them & get back...
Yes and she's only 20 !
@ft1339 I did go look & I saw the Britton Wilson videos. She's gonna be a problem too. She looks strong & knows how to run the 400. The women's 400 will be extremely exciting & I can't wait for more....

Congrats to Rhasidat, what a talent! Credit to Britton for attempting a historic challenge, only issue was running the prelims harder/faster than was clearly necessary; she ran 49.36 in the 400m semi (slowest qualifier was 51.20); and then 54.67 in the 400mH semi (slowest qualifier was 56.02). She could literally have run both races over a second slower & still qualified for both Finals conserving a ton of energy in the process! Better round/race management is a lesson I hope she takes away from this experience i.e. if she only focuses on the flat 400m @USAs, she shouldn't be trying to run all 3 rounds in low 49s or quicker! We could very well see Paulino, Syd, Britton, Rhasidat and possibly Naser all run sub 49s over the next few weeks!
Talitha Diggs is another fantastic talent who I hope gives up running rounds of both the 200/400m at big meets like this and sticks to just the 400m like Rhasidat smartly did!
The 400m final in Paris next year has the potential to be out of this world if Sydney M and Femke Bol decide to double. With Miller Uibo returning and Adeleke and Wilson improving, plus Naser and Paulino, I think you would have to toss a coin to pick a winner!
@@JP-fd4vf Shaunae confirmed at the end of last season that she was stepping down from the 400m to the short sprints (like Shericka & Kerley) before getting pregnant & having her baby. Will be interesting to see if she sticks with that decision next season or is tempted to go back to the 400m and try to make history as the first athlete (M or W) to win 3 Olympic 400m Golds beating one of the strongest lineups ever in the process?!
@@AllInTheGame01 Oh that's interesting. She is a great 200m runner so I guess it's not surprising. But it would be amazing to see her in the mix for the Paris 400m.
@@JP-fd4vf Yeah she ran 10.98 & 21.74 as a full-time quarter-miler and thought having won everything in the 400m, why not see how much she can lower those 100/200m PBs and improve on her '17 WC 200m Bronze Medal as a FT short sprinter given how well Shericka & Kerley have done! Fully understand the temptation, but there's a real chance to make history and do what the greats like MJ Perec & Michael Johnson couldn't do by being the first ever to win 3 Olympic 400m Gold Medals!
@@AllInTheGame01 Well she's a terrific runner and I always look forward to watching her whatever race she competes in.
A-Del-EE-Kay!! To quote the famous words of the University of Texas alumnus and fellow Irish exile Mathew McConaughey - All Right , All Right, All Right. Speaking of the dazed and confused, let's congratulate ESPN and NCAA for not re-editing that shamelessly biased intro before it was posted for posterity on RUclips. I hope Dwight has fully recovered from so spectacularly tripping over his tongue during the last 50 meters of Miss Adeleke's resounding victory.😂🤣 As always, John gets credit for his hilarious post-race interview techniques. 😉

Gorgeous athlete, in every sense of the word.
Calm down there, Bundy
Sub-50s are phenomenal
The fact she just began to train for the 400m in the fall is absolutely insane! Imagine next season when she really figures it out.
Exactly, look at her now, winning a silver medal at the Europeans running a 43.07
i was waiting for this upload
edit: she's only been running the 4 since the fall...? what in the nine hells?!
Me too. Adeleleke is something special.
She ran the 400 last year at the european championships, and she said she had been training for it last year as her coaches thought that it would be better for her than the sprints.
@@eisirt55 she sure is. She ran her first competitive 400 at the European Championships last August and had never trained for it. She was running the 100M and 200M. She came fifth with a 50.53 (a National record). If she avoids injury and keeps developing her craft, she will get into the 48's.
The commentators are absolutely shocking. Adeleke cruised to a 49.8 in her semifinal, so she was clearly in low 49 form. To label this result as a huge upset is ridiculous.
It is for the average fan. Everyone knows Wilson, but this is Adeleke's big debut.
For someone who set the collegiate record this year yes, it is surprising for them to get beat

What a race, both are hugely talented! I'm only a casual viewer but to me it seems like Adeleke is the one with the most potential. She's 20, she said herself she has only trained for the 400m for 9 months and she doesn't even know how to run it properly yet!. 49.20 and she barely knows how to run it - that's insane. I'm not convinced that BW has as much untapped potential - she's much more experienced and has a lot more 400m training under her belt. I'm not sure where she will find the extra second to go low 48 as some are forecasting. Again, just an observation
You realize BW ran that time 20 mins after running the 400mH right? 20mins***
@@adaudaya3211Stop spouting false information. The 400 metre final was before the 400 metre hurdle final. However, the original comment is underestimating Briton Wilson’s potential given that she could run faster times if she solely focused on the 400m
@@adaudaya3211 I think she ran the hurdles after the 400m.
The talent in the 400 this year is historic! McLaughlin, Paulido, Bol, Wilson and now Adeleke? We might see 5 women go sub-49 at world's (and maybe a few sub-48) 😮
Don't forget Naser!
@@kamilahdouglas1609 Can’t forget her, she might be the dark horse.
@@kamilahdouglas1609 very true! I can't remember where she placed in Paris but she is amazing
@@markcaporale2559 she was third just after Sydney
I honestly believe Britton would have won had she not run a 49 in the semi’s; she was clear of the field by around 2 seconds if I’m not mistaken. Save the energy for this race, nonetheless great job to both ladies - truly talented field. I
I honestly believe pigs are pink lol
Folks were saying in my previous post on the semi’s race, “no she has enough for the finals”, “she was jogging” “that was easy for her” …no need to be a smart ass keyboard warrior.
I think BW may have run faster but I'm not convinced she could've won that race. I think the thinking is that because she has been winning all season, if she has finished second she must have done something wrong. But, I don't think she did anything wrong, had it not been for the wind she may have run 49.40. Adeleke was just too strong on the day. She had such a strong finish, I think had BW been closer Adeleke had the gas to match it.
Adeleke ran a 49 in her semi too. The difference is Adeleke cruised to a 49.85, whilst Briton Wilson was quicker but she ran all out (49.36).
The past two months caught up to Britt...she ran the double at three straight competitions and that will eventually affect any athlete. I have no doubt she would have won had just run the 400m. Ironically, her 49.13 occurred while competing for the double.
go ☘! well done Rhasidat!
Ireland huh....I love it, Afro Irish
August 2023 - Adeleke in the final of World Championships!
Commentary clearly didn't do their research here. Putting all the focus on one athlete and overlooking Adeleke.
So glad her & Britain hugged
If Brittan Wilson we're able to have focused on One race or the other, she wins whichever race she decides. She was all about attempting this type of double because it had not been done before and also scoring points for her team. The team concept Hurts the individual athlete because, they get burned out after such a long season. Britain is probably an elite 400-meter Runner which is obvious to us all but, she has been running the 300 and 400 m hurdles since the ninth grade here in Virginia where she competed at Mills Godwin High School. I think that if she focuses on the flat 400, she could go low 48 to sub 48.
na mate the irish girl is far more talented than wilson only 1 year competing in 400 meters says it all . at the worlds last year in her third ever 400 meters race she ran the 9th fastest time there
@@barrypower6822 yo mate! I would like to see how she would have fared after running 400 intermediate hurdle races over the course of those days before the flat 400 final. She's very talented and I look forward to seeing her run for Ireland but I want to see her fresh in the flat 400 and Wilson fresh in the flat 400. You do know that Wilson has the Collegiate record at 49.13 and the young lady ran 49.20. Britton Wilson will run low 48 to sub 48 when she has a chance to focus just on the flat 400. But the Irish young lady will probably be able to manage that herself at some point in the future but I just think Britton Wilson is ready to do it right now because she ran mid 49 indoor when she didn't have an opportunity to have her Focus taken away by the hurdles. How did the Irish young lady perform when they were both running the indoor 400 flat during the NCAA indoor finals?
Well done Rashidat, you just keep doing you. I think it's a case now the other athletes are more worried about you not the other way round. Can't wait to see her progress. 🇮🇪
Given how Ireland treats African immigrants who don't run sub-50 for the 400, I'm not sure a celebration of the nation is in order here.
@@keenannorris3309 First off, she is not an immigrant. She was born in Dublin. She came up through the local track clubs and schools. Ireland treats its immigrants fairly well compared to many nations. So take your little drive by trolling and stick it.

I llove this young lady she only getting better and better 👏👏🙏🏿🙏🏿🙌🏾🙌🏾💪💪
This shows how much of a beast Wilson is. She was still a second in front of the pack. Adeleke is a beast and could have won the race rather Wilson ran earlier or not because Adeleke ran at record pace.
Iron sharpens iron, if they both raced against each other 10 times it could go 5/5 and I wouldn’t be surprised. Wilson was still dominant in this race and still almost tied her own record.
Adeleke on the home stretch was thinking.." not today bitch", not today!!
This women is so beautiful. I think modeling agencies need to get to track women.
Both of these athletes should be running under 49 soon. Gutted for britton though, but there is a reason no one has tried the double before and I don’t think anyone will want to try it again seeing what happened to Britton.
