Thank you for sharing this technique. I can see many applications. White paint on black paper, snowflakes! Then cutting the paper into tags for presents. Lots of green dots and a forest print. Fall shades for an autumn landscape scene. I'm sure there are more. I love how ideas just flow sometimes. You are one I go to when inspiration wanes. Have a blessed week.
Hi there! I came across this video late last night...and I was instantly fascinated! I jumped out of bed this morning and looked around for a couple of empty picture frames and took out the glass and I was off! WOW! It is truly fascinating how those little blobs of paint turn into perfect circles! I have had a blast this morning, printing these in all different colors! Thank you so much!
I couldn't even finish watching the video, I was so excited to get started. It's wonderful, takes some practice and dexterity but so worth it, Thank YOU!!!
The very first print reminds me of those Nesting Dolls. The circles are so fun! I love how you started playing with the layering. Made it even that much more interesting!
I am such a huge fan of circles, and this is such a fun and easy way to get some great textured orbs of goodness! Just love it! Great color choices, too! Thanks for sharing!!!
A wonderful technique. I've been watching a lot of your videos since I discovered your channel about 2 weeks ago and I've been learning so much. Thanks for everything you show and teach us. Best wishes form the Netherlands.
Absolutely LOVE this - glad you got thicker glass - I got 2 pretty cheap glass cutting boards - of course the little legs were on the smooth side! Removing them was no trouble. Thank ou!
I know Shannon Greene from her RUclipsS and have always had fun with her. When I saw you knew her too, I thought I would learn a thing or two. I watch a lot of RUclipsS since my leg is in a cast, but even before I am a RUclips junkie. Can't wait to see all you do. I think your Mixed Media Morsels looks like something I would enjoy. I started out looking for comparisons between Ken Oliver's Color Burst and Brusho's. Who knew that would bring me to Owings Art, then you, and back to Shannon. Looking forward to a lot of painting!!!
+Jonie Isenberg I'm so glad you found my channel, Jonie. The Mixed Media Morsels series really is a lot of fun. Yep, Shannon is a good friend and I have lots of fun watching her videos, too! I wish you well in your recovery -- have fun creating and thanks so much for watching! 😊
Nice! Particularly like the "twisted" one. I'm going to try putting a drop of paint down and then imprinting a metallic paint inside using a very large dotting tool. Thank you for your time, talent, inspiration and willingness to share. Love the glee in your voice. It shows in your work.
So much fun Cat! I really liked the effect when you twisted the top piece of glass. And the heart shape is great! I'm going to get out my plexiglass this weekend and give it another go. TFS!
I was just reading some of the other posts and wanted to add that I only had plexiglass when I tryed this a few weeks ago. I had really good results with it.
So glad you enjoyed it, Betsy, and were inspired to make some yourself! Let me know how the plexi works - I've been wondering about that. Thanks for watching! 😊
Thanks, Claudia! 😊 I have used them in a few projects which you will encounter if you watch some of the older videos on my channel. Here's one in particular that I enjoyed using some dendritic prints in: ruclips.net/video/n0s9NbFzg5c/видео.html
I love those colors! They look like eggs, or a nested doll shape in the first pull. I have an idea for separating the glass. I have seen glass chip out, if you put a little masking tape on the corners it will protect the edge and maybe help getting a tool between to break the seal when separating. Mono printing is definitely addicting. AND I found a stash of mailing labels I had and will be gel printing them soon! Love your ideas.
Thank you Elaine. I thought that it looked like a nesting doll, too! Thank you for the tip about putting the masking tape on the corners - I may give that a try. 😊 Oh, you will have fun with those labels! Enjoy and TFW! 😊
Karen Sallows - if you're ever looking for color scheme ideas there are plenty of color picker apps available these days that can show you a myriad of varying complimentary colors based on the angles between them on the color wheel and a host of other functions... I have a great one on my mac but I'm away from home atm... if you have trouble finding one do let me know, it really helped me when I was starting out to be able to choose colors that I knew would work and over time not only learned why but figured out new schemes of my own.
So much fun!! Did you do a video of how you used these beautiful prints!! I'm like mesmerized watching you and get just as excited as you do when you pull prints!! LOL TFS! Love them!
Thank you, Anne! 😊 Here’s one video where I used some dendritic prints made on deli paper to make an underwater scene on an index card. ruclips.net/video/n0s9NbFzg5c/видео.html
Hey Cat, I am so sooo soo glad I found your channel!! you are so much into colors, patterns, textures, forms...just like me!!! its fun to watch all your videos!!!! the journal ones are just sooo adorable!!!! Thank you so much for sharing these!! LOve:):)
Hi Aditi and welcome to my channel! I'm very happy to have you here and so glad you are enjoying my videos. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! :)
Very nice. I tried it and it's big fun! When the paint was too dry I sprayed it with ink spray en pressed the plates again. Then I made a new print with beautiful result. Just try
I was thinking the same thing about it actually looking like arteries on the heart! I love seeing how much fun you have when you do these....it's cute! :)
+Lori H Lol, thanks Lori! I do have fun with these prints, that's for sure! :) So sorry it took me so long to respond to this comment - I found it in the spam folder, along with several others. Thanks for watching! :)
Love it! Ive been trying to come up with a cheap way to make what would look lit pine tree branches for these cute little Christmas trees I make and gift. Now I know what Im going to do! I have some of those neat cones that thread comes on so Ill get the 12x12 glass like you have and then make large circles. then Ill cut them out and cut up the middles and "drape" them over the cones!! I have some eyelash ribbon that I can put on as well so itll really look like pine tree branches!! This is so great! I have to get started so I can send some to Australia to the rellys over there!! Thank you sooooo much!
That's cool. I was waiting for you to place paper on the first dendric and then place the top glass on top of that paper thus making a double sided dendric on one sheet of paper.
Thanks, Carla. The technique doesn't work if you put the paper between the glass panes. It would press too hard on the paint, making the dendritic print flatten out. It's best to lay the paper on the paint and VERY lightly touch it to the paint, so as not to disturb the delicate pattern. Thanks so much for watching! :)
these are neat! i bet you could offset your glass panes to make it easier to separate. with a 12x12, you would have about 4 inches if you still want use letter-sized paper.
What a perfect time to teach us circles. They look like they can be made into Christmas Ornaments. Can't wait to make these. My mind is just going crazy. Oh dear How about using White Paint and making a Snowman.........need to play Thanks Cat ~janet :)
Thanks for your great videos, love this one. I use a glass surface protector/chopping board(a smooth surface one) to do my mono prints, after having watched your videos. I'm going to try this technique. Unfortunately my boards are opaque so it will be rather random. It looks such fun!
This is OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH... WHAT ??????? BETTER THAN GELI PLATE and much easier .WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can use a dollor store picture frame ( any size ) to do this as well just remove the glass piece .
Cat that’s so awesome and stunning. Those prints are so awesome. I really love 💕 this...... I did some printing with my great granddaughters and they had a blast. Thank you so much xxx Mags
Wow!!! This is a must try item! The multi color polka dot toward the end of the video was eye popping gorgeous! Have you used any of these in a project, background or otherwise? With your creative imagination, I would guess you have endless ideas for these prints.
It’s REALLY a lot of fun, Robin - I hope you DO try it! I used some dendritic prints I made on deli paper as coral in an underwater scene I did on an index card. You can see it here: ruclips.net/video/n0s9NbFzg5c/видео.html I also made another index card (#47) using them, which you can see here: ruclips.net/video/bQvblEEFCbM/видео.html Thanks so much! 😊
Hi, I had the audio off, so I may have missed you mentioning this, but have you shown in any videos ways that you incorporated these mono prints into collages or other artwork? I'd love to see that!
I just found you and I love the circles and the colors you used! Your tutorials are great and I wanted to thank you for sharing your videos! What kind of camera equipment do you use? Your videos are clear and I noticed no wobbling even when you zoomed in! Nicely done!
Thank you, Kathy and welcome to my channel - I'm really happy to have you here! I use my iPhone 6S to film my videos, which is attached to the end of a boom, which is on a mic stand. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! :)
Thanks Elizabeth. The glass is about 1/4 inch thick. I found that the large 12x12 inch size was heavy to use, so when I get some more, I'm going to buy pieces that are a bit smaller, maybe 8x10 or 6x8. This technique also works with acrylic or plexiglass sheets, although I'm finding that it's a little more difficult to clean the paint off them. Have fun! 😊
Have you tried drawing into the paint before you squishe the paint together? Also you can get thick plexiglass at lowes or home depot which might be safer
I haven't tried that - I'm thinking the paint would spread so much that it would no longer look like what was drawn, but it might be fun anyway! Yes, I got some acrylic die cutting plates and I like them so much better! Thanks, Erinne! 😊
this is so cool. i can see alot to do with this. i make paper beads. the circles cool rings or necklace so much i cant wait to do this Cat what are you using to clean your glass? is it just water? just love this
No WAY! Oh my gosh you're a genius! It never occurred to me to try shapes. They look like Christmas ornaments :) This makes me want to print again...I need to get some good glass like you got.
Way, girl! Lol! I was surprised when I first tried it out and I just love the outcome! Yep, I thought of ornaments, too. My "good" glass chipped on one corner, too. 😕 I think I will try putting a little masking tape on the corners and see if that helps.
I use duct tape around the edges of my glass sheet that lives with my gelli plate. It didn't occur to me to edge my printing glass too but the might work. I put the duct tape so half of it is off the edge of the glass so the might make it easier to pull them apart...sort of like tabs.
+Shannon Green +Shannon Green I guess it can't go on the surface of the glass that the paint goes on, otherwise wouldn't it interfere with the print? Seems like you wouldn't be able to push all the air out if the tape was keeping the glass pieces slightly apart...?
Shannon is proud of your experimentation with her basic tutorial. I especially like the ones with bright colors on top of each other. The overall spots at the end would look good on black paper, too. The multi-colored heart and circle you did before recording are amazing. What are you planning to do with these prints?
I thought about black paper, too. I think I'll try some neon colors on black sometime. 😊 Not sure what I'll do with them yet, but I will think of something... Thanks for watching!
Great ideas! I'm very pleased to be able to provide inspiration for you. Hope you have a blessed week as well! 😊

I sure was hoping that you would do one like the last one. I love this. Glass shop here I come. Thank you.
Have fun!! 😊
I couldn't even finish watching the video, I was so excited to get started. It's wonderful, takes some practice and dexterity but so worth it, Thank YOU!!!
LOL, Vanessa - I did exactly the same thing when I first heard about this technique from Shannon Green! I’m glad you’re having fun with it! 😊
Cat Hand haha fantastic! I really am , it’s wonderful, thanks again 🙏🏻😊
My pleasure!! 😃

Yay, Judi - so glad you enjoyed it, and found some cutting boards that will work! 😊 TFW!
Checking out some of your older videos. Great printing! Love the heart!
Thanks, Susan! 😊
How cool! I love the pieces of glass. Doing these circles would make some cool washi tape. Think I'll try that.
That sounds like a great idea, Carol! Have fun! TFW 😊

Yes, Beverly, SO much fun! 😊 I'm really enjoying making these dendritic prints! TFW!
Oh good - is it like acrylic?
+Cat Hand Yes, It's a 3/8" thick clear acrylic.
+Beverly Stout Thanks for the info! 😊
Wow! I'm just finding this video now. Amazing technique! Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks for watching, Mary! 😊
I am inspired!!!! Since I don't have glass right now, I'll see what plexi does, probably not as nice but worth a try. Thanks for sharing your fun!
So glad you enjoyed it, Betsy, and were inspired to make some yourself! Let me know how the plexi works - I've been wondering about that. Thanks for watching! 😊
This is totally awesome! You create some of the most interesting things so cool. Can't wait to see what you do next

I know, right?! It's really fun! TFW! 😊
OMG....awesome sauce!!!! I've got to try the circles that just looks like so much fun. love when you did the big paper and alllll those colors!
Oh yeah, this is a LOT of fun! I recently started using smaller acrylic die cutting plates and they worked great and much safer to use. TFW! 😊
I would love to see what you’ve made from these! Love your creative mind and your fab color choices!
Thanks so much, Lee. 😊 Here’s a video showing how I used some of them: ruclips.net/video/n0s9NbFzg5c/видео.html

I love this technique! ❤
Thanks, Fran - I think so, too. I hope you’ll give it a try! 😊
Very cool...will have to try that!!!
It's lots of fun - hope you enjoy it! TFW! 😊
So glad you enjoyed it. I hope your project works out well! 😊😊😊
so awesome and unique. Love it! Tyfs
Thanks, Cheri - so glad you like it! 😊
these are neat! i bet you could offset your glass panes to make it easier to separate. with a 12x12, you would have about 4 inches if you still want use letter-sized paper.
Like a little bit of magic! I've learned so much from you this evening. I've watched quite a few of your videos, can't stop!

Thanks Vicky - I hope you do try it! 😊
Nicely done Thanks for sharing your ideas!! I would love to see these prints used in a mixed media piece!
Thanks! I used some of the circular dendritic prints on an index card here: ruclips.net/video/n0s9NbFzg5c/видео.html
I saw where , if you let your baby wipes dry out, that you can cut into different size circles, and make flowers! They were beautiful!
+Scottye Allen Yes, baby wipes also make great texture when glued to a project.... 😊
These are awesome.
I'm going to have to quit watching your videos! Every time I watch I spend money. Now, I really want those Basic Acrylic paints! 😊
+Scottye Allen LOL, I'm an enabler... 😜 Hope you will keep watching, though... 😉
Cat Hand yes!! I bought some Acrylic Basics yesterday! Lol
Cat, this is absolutely fascinating! I love circles too, lol
I agree, it is fascinating! Thanks so much for watching! 😊

Awesome, Charlene! So glad you found a way to make it work! TFW! 😊
What a perfect time to teach us circles. They look like they can be made into Christmas Ornaments. Can't wait to make these. My mind is just going crazy. Oh dear How about using White Paint and making a Snowman.........need to play Thanks Cat ~janet :)
Sounds like some terrific ideas, Janet! I might try the snowman myself! 😊 ⛄️
Thanks for your great videos, love this one. I use a glass surface protector/chopping board(a smooth surface one) to do my mono prints, after having watched your videos. I'm going to try this technique. Unfortunately my boards are opaque so it will be rather random. It looks such fun!
Random is fun, too! Enjoy! 😊

Thanks, Cheryl. I used deli paper, not gel paper. If you don’t have any, there is some available in my Amazon store here: www.amazon.com/shop/cathand
Cat Hand thanks for responding I am in Australia and it’s hard to find one that will send to Australia but I will check it out. Cheers
Loved it! :) Must try this very soon! :)
Thanks - you will really enjoy this technique! Thank you for watching! :)
Great idea! I love it :)
Thanks so much and TFW! 😊
lovely 💜 I think you can press another piece of paper after spraying water......
Thanks! The paint dries pretty fast, but yes, sometimes you can get another print. 😊 TFW!
Could this technique be used to make earrings on glass cabochons, they would be matching sets I love this idea
Hi Gloria - I haven’t tried it, but it sounds like a fun project - give it a try! 😃
You can see it here: ruclips.net/video/n0s9NbFzg5c/видео.html
I also made another index card (#47) using them, which you can see here: ruclips.net/video/bQvblEEFCbM/видео.html
Thanks so much! 😊
This is awesome!
Thanks Michelle - glad you enjoyed it! 😊
I love how excited you get doing these. lol I love the circles and I really love the heart. :-)
+Laurie Richardson Haley LOL, I can't help it, it's really fun! TFW! :)
Hi,

So interesting result! Always making somewhat the same pattern in the colour. Do you know why?
All I know is, the pattern happens, and I think it’s pretty awesome! 😊
So cool
Thanks, Teresa. 😊
Awesome 😃 can you please tell how think the glass is. I live in Australia. And hopefully can get some cut...Outback Australia 🌏
Have fun! 😊
Thanks 😃 so much for your reply.
+Elizabeth Gulliver You're very welcome!
this is so cool. i can see alot to do with this. i make paper beads. the circles cool rings or necklace so much i cant wait to do this Cat what are you using to clean your glass? is it just water? just love this
Thanks so much! Yes, I’m just using water to clean the glass. (It’s easiest to clean if you don’t let the paint fully dry on the glass.) Have fun! 😊
You don’t need a tool to separate the panes of glass. Just leave them askew and it’s very easy to lift them apart.
I've never seen that technique. Very cool!
Ohhhh, I didn't think about that, you're probably right.

Wow pretty!
Thanks, Glenda! 😊
loved the grand finally
Thanks so much Mira - glad you enjoyed it! 😊 TFW and Happy New Year! 🎉
Thanks for watching!
wonderful thank you
Thanks, Sue 😊
