Managed payments are just the tip of the iceberg. This is why it's important to have your own store on your own website, that you control. I'm not saying don't use eBay, as you absolutely should, but don't get complacent and let it become the bulk of your income. It's too easy for them to change the terms and ruin your life without any input from you. Actively be trying to pull your eBay buyers, RUclips viewers, Instagram followers, etc, onto your own platform where you make the rules.
"Golly it sucks gettin' old" - said by Lonnie after he forgot which stamp set it was... He then went back to the computer to recheck the item... forgot why he went back to the computer and then bought some CDs on Ebay like the other old people do.

I have 2 years on him...
Why would eBay have an app just for selling motor vehicles and parts, then block people from selling those things?
eBay responds: "Yes."
Hey Lonnie I have a crazy policy for returns eBay has! A customer recently bought a Sony 400 disc blu Ray player I had listed for 900 dollars and in listing I said it had no remote. Customer got the item and immediately requested a return which I had no returns since it was extremely heavy 22/22/14 35lbs works great and in fantastic condition. Customer returned it stating it was missing parts or pieces as he could not use the item fully with out the remote. And guess what eBay sided with the buyer and told me ANY item sold by itself ANY consoles controllers remotes can be returned no matter the return policy as a customer can say they cannot use the full fuction of the item without the remote! It cost between shipping packing and PayPal fees like 85 bucks each way! Even tho I clearly stated it was as is no returns and NO remote and in fact NO REMOTE was on its own line and the very first line in the description! WOW!!! I am so pissed about that! 900 dollar blu Ray player comes back since it didn’t have a remote that was stated it didn’t come with!! WOW JUST WOW!!
To bad you couldn't give negative feedback to the buyer.
Thomas No TO BAD EBAY ALLOWED THE DAMN RETURN! literally talked to them and they told me any system unit etc that’s sold separately that has a remote or controller can be return since it don’t have the controller for the customer to test all the features. Who am I to know if a buyer has a remote or controller for the system. So no gaming consoles or even controllers I can buy a controller and return it saying I have no system to test it with well then why the hell would you buy a system with out the controller already and or at the same time just a complete joke! I even stated NO REMOTE!! How could I be more clear?
@@HOMIE_Sanity if you had 30 days returns you could have charged him a restock fee and not refunded shipping.
You get it back, subtract shipping charges (pd by buyer), and give them half back. Its our only shot at a little fairness. I've recently written in really large letters: no returns or refunds, encouraging them to buy from someone else. These partial refund scammers find me regularly! I'm about to start putting some hurt right back on them.
RETROXPRESS THRIFT I didn’t charge shipping I didn’t need to. There was gobs of money in the player to be made. I only did no returns since it was heavy and I didn’t want a change of mind buyer I wasn’t scared it didn’t work it was fully tested but even if I had free returns you cannot charge restocking fees and shipping back as free returns means free returns for any reason. Can only charge a % off if it’s returned damaged or missing parts or if it was new and then returned used. Cannot charge for restocking fees at any time I say I will in my description to deter buyers buy you cannot charge a restocking fee eBay won’t allow it there isn’t even an option for the return for why your charging it and they are for being used
Damaged
Missing parts
Etc not for shipping costs or restocking fees I called them about it one time and they clearly said it’s only for the above stated charging a restocking fee can’t happen and if they return it in same condition then your screwed!
Lonnie, Why dont you hang the fan (the one thats on the floor) upside down from a rafter pointing down it would possibly be more effective and you wouldnt have to worry about kicking it every time you walk down that aisle. All our store room fans are ceiling mounted for better air circulation and they arent a trip hazzard, Dave
Ebay is ignorant for creating this policy. I hate managed payments already and I wont switch until the last day before they force me. I get my money immediately with paypal, but i'll have to wait for days with eBay's crap program?. Ebay is just trying to get a larger cut of the pie, but I don't trust that they care about me as a full time seller.
I got married in '82 and YES I'm wy old! Graduated from HS in '74... Even the repetition doesn't help to remember if you see a distraction. My latest oops was yesterday when I filled the clothes dryer (stack washer/dryer) and accidentally hit buttons, so I fixed the buttons and proceeded to turn on the washer instead of the dryer. My hubby found the oops and still thinks I'm losing it!
Never underestimate eBay's ability to continue to shoot themselves in the foot with their heavy handed policies especially when it comes to selling so called essential items andrestricting people's accounts ...it's gotten way out of hand.
Ebay keeps facing more and more competition. They should be looking to one up their competitors instead of leaning on their sellers.
It sucks cuz eBay used to be awesome for both buyers and sellers...I think one thing they need to do is place everyone’s own personal responsibility in their laps and stop doing this online shoplifting...buyers protection guaranteed...I saw a sellers video about a buyer who left positive feedback and even emailed the seller that he had had it installed and it was working perfectly blah blah...then after several months wanted to return it because it was broken again..it was a headlight assembly or something so obviously the person had damaged it..so the buyer got it, used it, broke it and want their money back months later after leaving positive feedback which is supposed to take that burden off the sellers plate of liabilities ...and they sided with the buyer! The seller has to forever accept returns for any reason? Even if the buyer uses it and breaks it or used it up etc....that’s some major bs! What’s the benefit of selling on eBay anymore!?
@@w8what575 I heard about items being returned that were clearly used and ebay accepted the return. I hated it when ebay forced sellers to going for 14 Day Returns to 30 Days. Back in the day Sellers could have a "No Return" policy as long as they wrote "As IS" in the description. I saw videos and read comments that Sellers of formal dresses stopped selling them becasue the dresses were being returned after wearing them them.
Ebay is getting worse all the time.
Now another reason to dislike managed payments and I don't even have it yet.
eBay has had a year to work out those policies and they haven’t done it. BAD business! I’ve never had any problems with PayPal and eBay shot their own foot when they sold it! Guess I’m forced to switch or look for additional platforms, I’ll make that decision in July. How ridiculous!
Actually make it 2 years. This was first announced in 2018. It seems as if they waited until the last minute to actually "do" something.
Hey Lonnie love your videos and have probably watched close to 100 of them over the last couple years. Never was signed on to you tube and so never liked or commented. Now that I understand how comments and likes matter I am going back through. I have learned so much from you but the most important thing was you taught me how to ship, resize boxes, and that it really is better to spend twenty cents on the right box than 20 minutes of my time. You also became a source for me on the right way to handle returns, make category’s in my store, and how to find things within eBay like vacation mode. I love your honesty, I love when Candace makes a guest appearance, and I love that you raised all the money for breast cancer. Keep up the good work and stay humble and kind as I know in the next few years you are going to be in the millionaires club and I intend to join you guys there a few years after that!
I'm thinking they are pushing the stores first into managed payments. Which still would leave those without to opt in if chosing. They may eventually push every one that way.
I think it’s more the bank’s policies than eBay’s that is driving this. Banks like Chase, etc that back merchant accounts and enable smart payments like Apple Pay. I see the problem, but there is reason behind it and you’re probably right. The risk is too high for the banks and eBay. Lots of fake coin, lots of shady people in those categories.
Yes, in the UK a lot of the auction houses will not accept payment not person from a visa or mastercard on gold and silver as the scam rate is so high with people doing chargebacks
Hey eBay why do you have this policy? eBay- we have this policy because we have it
I've sold coins on ebay for 10+ years. Now I'm done??? And I also buy a ton of 90% U.S. silver coins; about $30,000/year and sell $40,000/year. Is managed payments forced on everyone? And when does it start???
8:26 I bought 4 jigsaw puzzles each featured a classic car from the 20s and 30s. The puzzles were made in 1973 and they were complete. 47 year old puzzles and not a piece missing.
Actually with coins, ebay is a pricing source. When they ban that, that resource will be gone. I sincerely doubt it will hurt the big coin dealers and such because it will drive people to their websites where they don't have to pay the overhead. It will hurt the small dealers though, and people who are more general and only occasionally sell coins. Fun fact -- if you have sold coins, mature video games, and such, you are far less likely to be opted into the system by force at this time. So TECHNICALLY if you wanted to try to avoid being forced into it, selling a few coin lots might do the trick.
eBay isn't allowing these items as Ayden (company eBay is using to process payments) doesn't allow these items. It sucks that eBay hates PayPal...They replaced an established payment processor for one that has horrible risk management systems
Have you ever thought of selling on mercari and etsy to make your products visible to a more variety of people? These could increase ur sales.
Coins and paper money is the only one that really seems ridiculous. That could end some folks business.
....and you just said that. Guess I should have waited 2 more minutes to comment. 😂
Yeah managed payments has forced me to close my store. They can pound sand.
why did it force you to close what was you selling
Greg Weaver what were you selling?
Heard the new policy was so they could include Apple Pay in Managed Payments. Have to follow Apple's guidelines. I think they should just leave Apple out. Ebay really shooting themselves in the foot here.
Agreed.
The reason eBay is going to stop the sell of these items is because Apple Pay does not allow payment of these type products. So eBay rather have Apple Pay and screw its sellers of these items.
Yeah not too thrilled about managed payments. I especially "like" the 20.00 fee if the buyer opens a chargeback. PayPal should be an option still for the restricted items.
On the restrictions: It's probably all insurance reasons, you basically nailed it on risk and charge backs. I bet the big coin dealers have a side deal with eBay. They probably want to minimize the risk from the average Joe coin dealer.
Best advice I have ever gotten was from you & Matt @ Part Time Pickers! I quit taking Best Offers and my sales actually increased!!!!
Congrats on your knife sales. I have been wanting one for my business and after missing it the few days in a row I just bought one off ebay. Maybe down the line when your knives aren't flying off the shelf I'll show support buy one or 2. I'm not complaining I'm just stating that I wanted to buy one but missed out. Great channel and great content. I've learned a lot from you. Thank you
Mother's Day is traditionally the busiest day for restaurants. An "oh, snap!" moment when I first learned it!!
Its a brain washing tradition since i have no idea.
If the Knife selling is such as issue, you should maybe let people Pre-Order, and then once a day or two has gone by(Or however much time you want), stop letting people pre-order, and then order that amount and then ship that amount(Whatever you can do per day, I'm sure people would understand and not mind waiting, especially since they;ve already been waiting to try to get one) and then repeat. This way everyone's happy and at least they know they have a knife coming in the future guaranteed. Some people are simply too slow on the computer lol. Also Pre-Ordering will allow you to get more knifes since they pre-paid so you can afford to order way more at once ;) Everyone wins!
It’s not such an issue. It’s fine.
@@shedflips just an idea is all. Keep up the great work.
Can you do some videos on how you get your inventory while in quarantine? Love the channel
Got there right at 7:59 ordered at 8 and 8:01 it’s sold out (Eastern Time)
Hey, the wife and I are huge fans of you and the show! Hang in there and screw the trolls!! We really appreciate the content and your attitude toward life. Thanks again!
Real stupid getting married marriage is a scam and form of legal prostitution enjoy being a simp
Event tickets makes sense since they sold off stub hub. They probably have a restricted convenant.
May I suggest putting a couple box Re sizers on auction. Then we can fight over them
Hey Lonnie, thank you for the knives. We got ours on the last round of release when you opened up the rest of the knives. I was so excited to see, thank you Brenda lol. Love your channel hubby and I watch you on our tv. Sorry we dont reply to every video. But we watch every one and go back to the older ones we haven't seen.
Apple pay is the reason why a lot of the things are restricted at least that's what the information that came up with was
Thank you for addressing the issue with putting in cart then by time form filled out they are gone, that happened to me! I will keep trying. Enjoyed the content of the video!
LONNIE hop u and Candice are doing well what don't you order the box sizers in bulk the take an afternoon or while watching tv and just sit and pack that's it and then all u have to do is just print the labels when there sold they would be pre-packed and all u would have to do is print and ship than when there gone there gone and just re-order more and repeat the process?
ApplePay won't allow so they've dumped over the sellers (again) is the rumored reason
Sweet I finally got my box cutter/scoring tool
Lucky.....
Awesome intro! Love how you showed prepping the box cutters for shipping.
That was a super fun intro!
Love how you switched up the beginning of this video 🤙🏼
I rarely comment but I must say that intro was AWESOME. Especially the notifications on the phone lol. Keep it up Lonnie!!!
Here we are at 7:02 pm on 5/11 and box cutter sold out. Very frustrating, 2 days in a row I’ve been shutout.
You make it look so easy to pack and ship knives!...its like an art to watch you.
I am so glad i bought my knife!! I use it frequently...
Love the new work table!
I don't recall seeing a managed payment message for my Ebay account, looking back at messages from Feb too. I don't have a store so that might be why, they might eventually get around to the smaller accounts. I only sell around 30 or so items a month but it is still listed as a business account.
Making everyone go to managed payments is a very disappointing move for us sellers. Paper money, bullion are the big standouts as a loss since the market for those on ebay is great. So stupid.
great edit and camera work!
Thanks lonnie for answering my question. I just sold some coins. Guess i wont buy anymore. 🤨
absolutely loved that little packing intro!!!
You’re a rock star Lonnie!! How cool to meet a viewer at your local sushi joint.
Hi Lonnie, I have asked this question before and I don't know if you missed it or just chose not to answer. So I'll take the risk of being a PITA just one more time because I think it's important for a lot of sellers to think about. Do you carry any insurance on your shed and contents, over and above what your homeowner's policy may cover? Also business liability and business continuity insurance. Heaven forfend, but say your shed burned down it might take a month or more to get back to full-time selling.
No news from ebay about MP for us...yet
I've had that happen, I'll have merch with stuff that I have listed and think that I have it all listed and notice few items are just sitting there. I usually only double check if I notice it hasn't sold for bit.
Great video! Thanks for sharing good buddy
Great video Lonnie 😊 putting them stickers on would drive me crazy
I was watching some of your older videos and had two questions. Your goal was to Pat off the shed within a year, where you able to pay it off?
How did you wire the lights? Did you ever get the motion sensor’s?
The restrictions are standard MC Visa policy.
Love looking on your eBay store, really want to buy something but the shipping costs to the U.K. are ridiculous 😩
I really hate this Managed Payments crap.. I really hate to switch..
From what I heard, the company that handles managed payments won't do so for those items on the list. It's not ebay directly.
It's the credit card companies.
With the Ebay Managed Payments activated, the Global Shipping Program ends for you, too.
Not that they or anyone else cares but I will most likely close my little 600 item store if Paypal loses out.
Not everyone is required to switch in the July timeframe. I for one have not got the "you must switch" email. I have a feeling it's because I have charity enabled on some items which they don't support in managed payments yet.
Question. What would you say to someone right now, that wants to eBay, who used to sell a little bit one item here and there.. But has ZERO stock? How would someone get started from nothing? Wait for garage sales to come back? or Estate sales and just invest? Where is a good starting line. Thanks man!
As far as motor vehicles ebay made another app called ebay motors.
There are many articles written by ebay in which a question is asked and many responses by ebay do not answer the question at all.
Currently the big question i have which no one can give me the "real answer" i am only receiving seller ratings are not beinf effected for 90 days (starting when?)
Question: ebay is giving extended returns to buyers, as well as extended protections ..in the case where a seller is shipping out a product on time..but the post office is delaying...what protections do i have as a seller?
i have many buyers opening up cases against me. No where in writing does ebay discuss what protections I have as a seller against these type of cases where buyer is impatient to wait for item.
I have been filling out where's my package claims and amazingly within 4 days my package gets located. I had to do 9 already the past 2 weeks since i had 9 cases opened against me simply for delays in post office. Its like the major distribution sorting center in this area is holdong packages for 3 weeks before they decide to move them else where..( and i am in Texas) does anyone know what the policy is for.sellers in this scenario?
Awesome new intro!! Love the 8bit style music. I have a question for you! When it comes to game systems, do you prefer to part things out, controllers, cables, systems, or sell it as a whole? Why? Thnaks for your great content!
Liked the song, I actually made a couple of how to ship vids and I showed one of materials needed, your box re-sizer knife as "the best knife" to use made it obvious and used the very same song..lol...this was great!
I think it’s only temporary because they’re are legalities involved with all of those that if they are taking payment for they need to be aware of so that they don’t start getting scammed them self’s with fake titles ect I hope anyway.
This makes no sense using for the coin market, they just partnered with NGC (grading company) last year to help authenticate coins being sold??
I tried and tried and could never get 1 resizing knife.. mad :(
Love the musical edit at the beginning, I always try to put something like this in my videos too. Love the content Lonnie! Btw, quick question for you. Sometimes people buy something from me and they pay a shipping amount that is less than what it really costs. Sometimes it is even less than if I was shipping to my next-door neighbor. Do you know how this can happen?
Thanks Lonnie
Hey Lonnie off subject but what kind of little TV u use to test your consoles and DVD players mine broke the other day and was wondering what that little one u had was
Thanks
Not sure why but I haven't received anything about having to switch to managed payments yet. Do you think it depends on age of the account and/or amount of sales?
That happened to me. I’ll just keep trying.
Nice bench Lonnie, shame I can't get a box resizer, their HOT!
wow a lot of coin and money sellers i buy coins and rare paper money thats gonna hurt alot of sellers sad .
Just started watching you a few days ago and checked out your stores. I have a question for you and/or other ebayers. I see that you don't mention combined shipping in your listings. If someone buys more than one item from you at one time, would you ever put them in the same box to save yourself shipping or would you always ship each item separately since they paid full shipping for each item? I have always tried to combine shipping when possible, but it seems to be a hassle. Thanks for sharing you're experience with us, Lonnie!
On the sellers end of the listing...there’s a choice to have combined shipping available and it used to put that info up for the buyer to see...like they do now for the returns accepted templates...on listings ...it also used to let the seller select how many days the buyer had to pay and combine items for shipping discounts...like an algorithm the seller got to chose....they also didn’t have the “similar items” shown on all the listings to basically drive customers away from ur item by advertising ur competition right on ur item listing..they used to have a “see my other items” where u could display the other items for sale in ur store to encourage multiple items sold for that seller....fees were way less...and so was liability...that’s all history now...
Hey, that’s a cool little label printer thing, where did you get it?
Hello, I was wondering your thoughts on eBay manage payments option. Also have you converted yet? Thank you Great content.
Love the music you used at the beginning!
You should just put up an infinite number so everyone can order a resizer and then fill what you can and reorder. Just let people know that there maybe a wait.
And then when he runs out he starts getting neg feedbacks for not shipping.. and depending on his store type, he may have to upload tracking details to ebay within a set time frame to keep a good rating
Very nice sales and thanks for sharing information with us all 👍❤️
The beginning was great!!!!
Hey Lonnie, I have a question. So I’m currently 17 and selling on eBay on my own without any help from adults or anything, and it’s going very well. If I were to hit the minimum threshold for when you have to file taxes for your sales, would I have to file it next year? If so I’ll be ok because I turn 18 this year, Thanks!
Minimum for filing taxes is $400 I believe but it's pretty easy to look up. Good luck with your shop ! It's great to have to file taxes, it means your doing great !You can file taxes at any age really, when ever you start working.
so managed payments, is that just to bypass paypal instead? i do sell on ebay. not a lot of stuff. i just have paypal set up. should i look into managed payments? i dont sell those questionable items.
Is it worth it to sell the knives? Does your family ever help with the stickers and packing? Looking forward to getting mine, I definitely need a better way to resize.
Love the intro it reminded me of The Office’s “Best intro Ever” video
I wonder if they will allow the coin dealers to stay with PayPal until they get it straightened out?
Loved the Synth-pop music intro!
They'll lose a TON of money because of it!👎🖕👁️👁️🇺🇸
Small world bumping into a viewer whilst waiting for sushi haha
HEY LONNIE!! I feel like I just won the Shed Flips Lottery!! GOT ONE!!!! Thank you :)
Hi. I was wondering if you make one listing free returns as a top rated seller, then if someone goes onto another listing of your (that does not offer free returns) and goes to your profile, will it have a top rate plus badge even though you only offer free returns for one listing?
Dig the 80s casio keyboard music! Lol
need a box resizer
