Thank you very much Michael. All your videos are fantastic. This time you helped me out big time with bulk re-linking. Thanks again and all the best from Holland!
Thanks for the video. It's time to relink my 20+ year portfolio, already out of control. Q: How did you get the file icon and the links folder icon up on the upper right corner? Too bad I can't attach a file here. Ive been using InDesign for over ten years, always Mac, but I just never had those ON the app screen. Thanks!
Thanks Bob. Best of luck condensing 20 years of work into a single portfolio ;) Sorry but I don't quite follow your question. Could you post a more detailed description? This can get tricky here in the comments section without the ability to post images. You could consider posting your question on the Adobe InDesign forum (along with pictures) where some amazing InDesign gurus hang out. You could also paste a link back here if you wanted. community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/bd-p/indesign
What if you don’t have the links? Most my photos I’ve had to delete to free up space and right at the end of the project I find out I have to link the files to the images but why? Every other software there’s no unnecessary extra steps like this. I just don’t get why 😂 should be drag and drop or insert and done it’s in why so complicated for no reason I hate indesign
In the world of professional design, placed images can be huge. Linking assets by default, instead of embedding them, prevents the InDesign file size from exploding.
I have a situation in which I hired a graphic designer to create product labels. She is no longer available to update my labels but gave me all the indesign files for each label. Now it’s saying I’m missing links to some of the icons that are on my labels such as the Instagram logo, Etsy logo, etc. She did not save the files for me to access. How do I link those?
Try gathering up versions of those logos yourself and rename the files to those that InDesign is looking for. Put them in a folder and then point InDesign to that folder using methods I showed in the video.
@@MichaelBullo I have the same issue but I am trying to link 25 images in a magazine and I do not have the individual images. Is there anything I can do?
hey ..what if the Links show that all of them are in order, but once i want to export the file, it doesn't let me cause some of the files are unlinked, but i dont even know which ones...?
Can please you be more specific. Have you moved some files on your computer? Have you embedded some images? If you are getting an error message what does it say exactly? Are you trying to create a PDF, package the file etc…
Are you asking why InDesign can't automatically find the images on your hard drive? Are you sure you would want to give software permission to scan your hard drive for images? ;)
i don't get this red question mark when i have a missing link, it's so annoying i have to zoom in and out to see what thing is pixelated and has to be updated.. how do i fix this? I only have name tab in the link panel not the triangle.

@@MichaelBullo OK let me try to explain. I am working on a translation project. The logo of the book is sent to me as a link. I need to translate that logo. What of I want to edit the link? Is it possible? I am currently working on a book that needs me to edit some of the links into a different language.
