    This is the exact year, make, and model of my car. My air has only blown in top airflow position. I have gone at least 3 winters without being able to defrost my front windows or warm our feet. Thank you so much for this video.

    Thank you so much for this video! Like others have mentioned, yours was the only video that I found on this subject and this was exactly my problem. I had air blowing from all vents no matter what setting I chose. Once I got everything together, I placed a small piece of electrical tape over the top of the cooper-looking piece that locks the wire in place, with the hope that it won't pop out again causing me to have to do the same repair. However, in my situation, it is likely that I will either have to do the repair again or actually replace the entire wire from the control knob to wherever the other end is. Once I had everything opened up, I inspected the wires behind the control knob and found that the insulation around the wire has opened up and exposed more of that little silver wire to be exposed than should be. I believe it's a mechanical design flaw, but I'm no engineer. I think the way it's made to move allows it to wear away at the insulation which then allows too much slack in the wire which then causes it to become unwrapped from around the control knob spool. Either way, it's working and I'm happy for now. When I make changes on the dial now, I do it very slowly in hopes that I can make this last as long as possible. I bought this 09 Corolla with 74,000 miles about a month ago to use as a commuter car to not only save on gas but to keep from putting so many miles on my truck. The car is in excellent shape inside and out and had only one owner. Thanks again for your great video!

    If the selector is stuck, find the vent door it operates and put Armor All on the seals around the door edge. It’s not easy to access. Hot weather causes glue on the foam rubber seal around the door to flow and glue the door shut, jamming the selector

  • @user-og4ot8ec1n
    @user-og4ot8ec1n 8 месяцев назад

    That would work if your sleeve is still intact. What I can see in this video is that the sleeve is no longer intact and that causes the wire being sble to jump out of the spool. So you might think he fixed the issue, but my experience is that you will have to fix the sleeve part first in order to make it work again. This means you will have to adjust the wires with the amount of sleeve you took of for it to be a solid sleeve again. A pain in the rear job, but it can be done and that will fix it for how long it will take for the sleeve to be cut again by the wires. Toyota went really cheap here and this part will fail guarenteed overtime due to its construction of sharp wire and platic sleeves.

      Hello, if you ever find the reason - please let me know!

    • @BigEazyRN
      @BigEazyRN 5 лет назад

      I think it may be a design flaw. The insulation around the silver wire on mine was frayed allowing too much of the wire to be exposed which causes slack in the wire which then causes it to come off the control spool. I have no idea where the other end of the wire is so it is likely a pain to have to replace the entire wire! I wish I had taken a pic of the frayed insulation when I had it opened up.

    • @Billymons
      @Billymons 5 лет назад +1

      Dang it it must have come off again. There must be something I can do to rig it to not jump off???

    • @Billymons
      @Billymons 4 года назад

      Well that lasted the longest! Now its still works a little but I can feel and hear that the cable must me starting to fray or break totally. I'm done! I got the new cable and I'm gonna replace it. If I have any good tips I'll let you know. Looks like there was some superseded part numbers ,so hopefully they updated it. Only $29.00 at Koch Toyota online. There are aftermarket ones but I don't want to do it again if those are not as good as the OEM.

      I removed the small silver screw holding the cable in place as it entered the spool area. That relieved the tension and allowed me to maneuver the wire around the spool. Hope this helps and sorry I didn't see your comment earlier.
