    Thank you sir. Just finished putting everything back together, much easier than I expected. For anyone else having a hard time just stop and start from the beginning again. Follow each step as per this video and you’ll be able to fix this issue.

    If your Corolla’s selector knob is stuck at defog or defog+feet, probably the little vent door has glued itself shut where glue has flowed around foam rubber seals. Normally the door is opened and shut by the “slave” white plastic pulley and it’s a little difficult to access. But in hot weather, the glue flows and gobs the door shut. I used armour all and it hasn’t stuck since

      What if the control will move to any setting except defog but no matter what it’s on, it blows heat from the defog/feet?

    • @Mars-zgblbl
      @Mars-zgblbl 11 месяцев назад

      @@mackkalister3503 Dunno but if you’re getting heat when it should be blowing cool, maybe check the middle (heat) knob, cable and baffles

      Could you describe this in more detail, please? Where is the vent door? I'm thinking maybe this happened, which subsequently broke the selector knob, but I can't be sure. It's been too long ago. But WD40...got it.

    • @Mars-zgblbl
      @Mars-zgblbl 5 месяцев назад

      @@LadyhawksLairDotCom Weird - I posted a reply and it disappeared. The door is called the HVAC blend door. See this video: m.ruclips.net/video/mQSZI4QR5Uk/видео.html
      At 5min 55 sec in the video you can see the round white plastic actuator through the hole for the glove compartment. The actuator sits at the end of the selector knob cable, and it rotates the blend door open or shut. The blend door is towards the driver from the actuator, and a bit towards the rear, and is rear facing. (It might be the yellowish plastic blob to the left of the actuator, I forget.) It’s hard to see and harder to access, and that metal bar to the left of the actuator will get in the way of your hand. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

    I looked at your video again as I have just bought the part. Toyota #55906-26060. Your video gives a better look at where the other part of the mode control assembly attaches to the damper. Hopefully by just removing the floor vent will allow better access to that end. It looks like 1 screw holding it in place

  • @HomeAtLast501
    @HomeAtLast501 3 года назад +1

    Everyone was telling me it was the switch, so I ordered a new knob/switch unit, and took the dash apart yesterday, and I did notice that that wire was detached and floating. That brass piece was just floating around outside the slot. I replaced the knob and that didn't do the trick. So it really is that wire. I'll get back into it and see if I can fix it again.

  • @jc_yadigg
    @jc_yadigg 3 года назад

    As someone who has just popped in the brass part at least 5 times now your better off going to the dealership and ordering a replacement cable assembly. Once there wire get lose its only a matter of time before it pops out again. It was 30 bucks get the replacement spent 4 years dealing with this bullshit. I wish I saved myself myself trouble

    My daughter has a 2011 Corolla, and that knob isn't working. It's not longer clicking into place at each vent option --- it just slides without any clicking into the slot, or any tension at all. And it's stuck on the foot vent --- you can't switch to the windshield vent, or the front dash vent.
    I was told that it was the HVAC switch, and that you have to replace the switch.
    As that the part you are fixing rather than replacing? The part where you rewound the wire? is that the switch that people are telling me to replace?

    • @Csch90
      @Csch90  3 года назад +1

      Sorry for the late reply, but no I'm only putting the wire back on because it fell off. I was told the same thing but I don't think a lot of mechanics know about this issue
