I have actually been constructing a nuclear fusion reactor for the past few months and I'm going to test out some methods which increase the chances of fusion, it's basically an improvment of this really old device that has been around for decades but I got it reviewed by a professor who liked the idea and I plan to publish it after getting some results. P.S: I plan on applying for a physics major btw

I will be applying for the fall 2025 (undergraduate) CS major. Can you suggest me about what to choose because I don't want to do research particularly on data/CS but instead on Science and technology. What would be better for me and for my profile? As for example I choose STEM and got a project/research to do on something related to the medical/pharma industry, obviously I would not be that helpful for my profile because I am a CS major. Since the major you want to pursue is CS, I will suggest going for the CS interest- the projects for CS are very much in relation to STEM fields so it won't be dedicated towards just coding and will involve critical thinking and a mix. of other interests as well!

submitting to high impact journals cost a lot of money, if your department can pay then it's great otherwise you will have to submit to a low impactful journal
Hey there. I conducted research on bioplastics and biodegradable plastics, which are expensive to publish. I participated in Sastrolsavam, a state-run competition by the Kerala government, and achieved first place at the school, subdistrict, and district levels, and third place at the state level. Since this competition is open to students from 1st to 12th grade, would submitting this project as my research be considered valid? I have certificates for all these achievements and this is a state ran competition and this research paper is reviewed 3 to 4 time as it reaches each level like school sub district and so on. So what is your thoughts on this ma'am.

yup poems or books are great to showcase your skills too, STEM is not the only thing that makes you stand out

it can be valid as long as you are able to explain it appropriately, publishing is not expensive in lower impact peer review journals
