I've had an sv650s since 2018. Had the motor swapped and then it quit starting on me in 2021. I'm about to clean the carb. Any tips or advice before I begin? Appreciate the video
Edit ie any parts you purchased or fluids etc ty so much

If the bike has been standing still since 2021, you have to do a lot more than shown in this video. Especially if the so-called "bio-ethanol" in your fuel has polymerized and filled the fine idle-holes with gunk. Get a rebuild set. Remove all plastic and rubber parts. Be sure to keep parts seperated, so you put them back into the same carburettor they came from. If you can afford it, buy a cheap, chinese ultrasound cleaner. Mine is 1 liter, so I have to do it in several turns. 30 min @ 45°C from each side. Use a detergent suitable for carburettors. After ultrasound, rinse and then blow-dry with compressed air. Be sure to wear protective eye-glasses when you do this. Make sure to check the idle-bores. I spray the carbs with MOS2, to see there is free flow everywhere. When you blow into the pilot-jet, you should feel a strong flow of air coming from the three by-pass holes under the throttle valve.

@@chanjoinaua5273 for sure dude I appreciate the advice! I think I might need to adjust the valves too ... but yeah I'm gonna buy a rebuild kit and prolly just pass on the ultra sound cleaner I don't have much faith in this bike plus it's 20+ years old. Im just gonna try to get it running to sell it nobody will buy a broke down bike in my area

@@abtwopoint0 Ever since some idiots decided that it is beneficial to take food from the poor and turn it into "eco"-fuel, gasoline-driven engines have to be run regularly, or your fuel turns into gunk.
But apart from that, I have never had as many strange problems as with my SV. For your entertainment:
The relief-valve in the fuel-pump was stuck with gunk, screwing up the membrane, so I had too little fuel pressure.
The drain-holes in the cylinder for the spark-plugs were plugged, so the holes in the cylinders filled with water, drowning the plugs.
A faulty membrane in the fuel-valve on the tank let gasoline pass through the vakuum-hose into the intake, drowning the engine.
After I fixed this, she still wouldn´t start. An insect had built nests in the air-relief hoses coming off the carburettors, in just two days...

There is a tube coming off each carburetor and both are open and cut at an angle. There is a lot of misinformation out there as to their purpose and even the Suzuki shop manual is lacking any useful information. Are those the “air relief” tubes you refer to? Some sources say they are vacuum lines used during synchronization and should remain open. While one forum says plug them. Mine are currently open. They are routed between the carbs and just point downwards. I’ve also seen them referred to as overflow tubes which I suspect is bogus.

Mine are open as well. Yes, there is a lot of misinformation out there. Thanks for watching!

      They should be drains

Those tubes are bowl vents and should remind open. If you see any fuel leaking from them, it's because the needed valve is leaking and not controling bowl level.

You're not rebuilding it if you're not putting everything into a chemical dip to remove the corrosion and fuel deposits. Spray carb cleaner only removed superficial deposits.
