It may not make a lot of difference overall. Turbulence of the air can enhance performance. Found out in the car tuning days. If the casting Made in China then could be some benefit. But the Japanese would have done their research and made a decision.

When you put the engine case half together is their a gasket or did you put silicone on the case?
No gasket on the crank case half’s mate.

Do you have a good reference on how to set the timing on the cams? I’m about to install a new rear head and I don’t know the proper procedure.
The workshop manual. $70 is worth its weight in gold mate. That is where I sourced all the info. And really easy to understand. 👍🏼
