I just picked up a sv650 gen 1 as well. Previous owner started a cafe racer build on it but never finished it. Bike has r1 forks, ohlins shock, and vfr single sided swing arm.. so lots of cool stuff. I'm still going through the parts as there are lots but I can't wait to start working on mine. Owner gave me lots of parts such as spare engine gpr stabilizer and mount and countless bit and pieces. I never really took on a project this big. I had 3 sv's but I bought them all as pretty much ready to go track bikes. So we will see how this goes lol. Your build has lots of great help so I will reference this often. Thanks for uploading looking to see the build when its done. Hopefully I can shar mine as I build and finish it.
I love the sub frame ive been toying with the idea of doing a similar sort of think I was intrigued as to wear you was going to fit all the battery ect but looks sweet how u do it keep up the good work bro look sweet
Where did you get that carb sync gauge set? This series is so much guidance and inspiration for my recent sv pick up for 500 bucks. IDK anything about carbs but im eager
Great build. Do you need a light over your plate in your state? And is that exhaust going to blacken your plate? A friend had a plate getting exhaust blast and the paint came off part of the plate. A cop pointed it out to him, but no ticket, just a “fix it before I see you again” like with nice cops and blinkers.
Benji Vanderpol is the exhaust itself above the plate? If not you might have a problem while moving as the wind blast pushes the exhaust straight back. But ya, we’ll see. Keep up the good work
Did you ever sort your decel pops? I have that issue right now on mine and it's driving me nuts. Everyting else seems to be tuned correct but I'm still getting crazing pops from 5k-3k RPM
I don't get pops anymore I think largely due to proper jetting in the carbs. I also had a bad popping issue when one of the carbs intake screens was getting clogged.. cleaning that helped a lot
How long have you been doing mechanical/metal work? I had an accident on my SV650 a couple of weeks ago, hard brake, slipped on a slick manhole cover and rear ended a car at about 30mph. Brought the bike back home on its wheels after i ziptied the radiator and headlamp and adjusted the clutch a bit. No leaks. Your miniseries has been an inspiration and hopefully i will get to work soon.
I had a job doing maintenance in a food processing plant where I learned a few fabrication skills, and worked on cars a lot but that was about 10 years ago. Good luck with your bike hope to see it turn into something rad!
Really nice build! Just bought myself a cheap SV just to bash on it, but your build inspired me to make something out of her😄oh and I also realised my SV probably already has a DYNO kit as my needles also have these grooves😁 just one minor thing I didn't like......you had the carbs out and didn't clean anything and then at the end you say you wanna run some seafoam to clean the gas and clean CARBS🥴that's the wrong way you could have cleaned them way more properly while they were out of the bike😅
Thanks Simon, I did give the carbs a good clean with brake and carb cleaner when I first got them, although I'm sure they could use more. Good luck with your SV!
Great explanation of how the carbs get tuned

Amazing to hear, good luck with the build!
Great video man, extremely helpful. The bike looks great keep up the good work.
Build looks soo good! Love what you've done with that rear subframe, looks incredible
Best looking SV650 I've seen
Thank you!
Nice videos! You should have much more views, hope to see more projects later. Creetings from skandinavia

Did you make the subframe custom? I need one! This build is clean!!
Edit: I have an 01 sv650s in a ruby red I’d like to do the same subframe
yes all custom, would definitely recommend you should go for it
I wish I knew about this place sooner then I may have been able to participate. Turns out I live 20 minutes away from the shop.
No way! This bike is close to finished but we've always got more we are working on

Good luck man, I just bought the cheapest ones on amazon, wouldn't recommend though one gauge is already broken
A very serious question, seeing as youve already did the R&D anyway you'd be able to make another subframe and if so how much?
Do you sell those subframes? I'd buy one if you do.
I sell a newer and improved version of the subframe made out of aluminium sold here: pic-metalworks.com/products/sv650-scrambler-subframe

Thank you! Yes license plate lights to come. I think the exhaust should be ok it's pointed up higher than the license plate, we'll see

Hi , did you make the sub chassis or did you buy it?? I would like one like that one
All custom made. Also in the process of making more for others looking for one

@@Benji... I'm actually going to inspect those screens on mine now after seeing your short vid on that. What'd you end up doing for jetting?
@@nicholasthomas9186 I can't remember the size but it was the biggest one in the dynojet kit I ordered as I'm running pod filters and modified exhaust
