Gap was too big, Smant surely would've found a solution that wasn't cheesy. The cheese solution doesn't even seem that viable, I've got a feeling Smant took the RNG route just to fuck around with an overlooked mechanic. It's the kind of thing he does all the time.

Smant finished with his rng fishing method over an hour earlier, when rng fishes notoriously can be very slow compared to the intended solution. While getting detect/protect 5 times in a row isn't like astronomical odds, as long as the game speed can't be sped up you'll be there for a while. Doubly so in a double battle.

5:55 Regarding Sokoban, it's not just NP-Hard, which is a general term for problems harder than NP, but also PSPACE-Complete! This is a class beyond the standard NP-Complete problems one sees, it's really a difficulty of its own that goes beyond what we currently think are hard problems, even if we were to figure out P = NP, Sokoban may still be too hard!

The escape room was really fun but when attempting it myself, I found it was actually really easy to beat the final trainer using the team from the ferrothorn trainer and completely ignoring the trainer who gives you the new pokemon. Not sure if that counts as cheating or not.
Very impressed with Blunder. I did assume that this was going to be more about overworld jank than actual battling, so him getting in second place is a good reflection of the time he's spent battling.

I feel like that first puzzle of making them copy lunar dance is way harder than any of the other ones. The other puzzles I think I could reasonably get, but that first one I don't see how I could have ever figured that out; it is way more obscure than the others. Especially weird since it's the first puzzle.

Jokes on me for getting the first puzzle in all of 3 seconds because I once made the mistake of trying to have fun and spent a week trying to figure out a lunar dance skill swap dancer "perish song from wish" team making use of lunar dance and revival blessing to basically do the equivalent of clicking perish song only to find out dancer doesn't copy lunar dance if there are no pokemon to switch into (but you can still use it yourself for whatever reason???) And all my effort was for nought... UNTIL NOW!!! I CAN FINALLY USE THIS HYPER OBSCURE FAILURE TO BE THE FASTEST PUZZLE SOLVER EVER!!! Phew... that was one hell of a rant. I'm not even sure I remembered periods lol
I love watching these type of challenges and seeing the smartest pokemon players come up with weird strategies is really cool to see. I'm looking forward to the next. Hopefully more crazy and old traditional puzzles are included like the old Japanese one.

This was such a good escape room, it didn't have an unecessary timer rushing you like most seem to have since the savefile is its own timer, and removing the luck was so nice. Would have been a nice addition to state at the beginning that the level cap is 30 when saying that grinding is almost not necessary, since it is easy to ignore leveling up as an option since we are used to it taking time, even if it was well made and defeating 2 crabominable was enough. Didn't use Skill Swap the entire escape room : ) I loved so much the relearner with so many options that were stuff the pokemon learns naturally
6:00 as an FYI, an NP-Hard problem doesn't mean the problem is "hard" (which is subjective anyways) in the sense you may think of it. It's just that there is no "fast" algorithm, non-polynomial time (aka it's exponential). basically NP-hard problems have to do brute force, taking a LONG time. I found my own unintended way through the Sandslash puzzle: I used fake out on the keckleon, then skill swapped protean onto Cres. After that, Sandslash used iron head on kekleon, Cres used aurora beam on slash to become an ice type, and kekleon disabled iron head. Next turn kek and cres chipped the slash, and kek died. After that, froslass destiny bonded the lax and Cress 1v1’d the slash. I figured the idea was giving Cress ice typing so the hail gave it more defense, luring the lax away from it.
calling ackolade a veteran to escape rooms is kinda hilarious considering he spent 20 minutes in Maxies Island trying to shoot down birds in the overworld with a remoraid after reading its dex entry.

I found my own unintended way through the Sandslash puzzle:
I used fake out on the keckleon, then skill swapped protean onto Cres. After that, Sandslash used iron head on kekleon, Cres used aurora beam on slash to become an ice type, and kekleon disabled iron head. Next turn kek and cres chipped the slash, and kek died. After that, froslass destiny bonded the lax and Cress 1v1’d the slash. I figured the idea was giving Cress ice typing so the hail gave it more defense, luring the lax away from it.
calling ackolade a veteran to escape rooms is kinda hilarious considering he spent 20 minutes in Maxies Island trying to shoot down birds in the overworld with a remoraid after reading its dex entry.
