Hey man, thx for the video. Can you keep chinese subtitles in your future videos. I found it very helpful as a chinese language learner. Keep your great work.
Great interview. Can't wait to see more! He really put into perspective how much they have improved Chinese Weightlifting that they created their own system and have proven results. Now that system is being taught around the world. Incredible.
Man, what a career he's had as an athlete and coach. He's one of the greatest coaches of my generation, easily. It was really cool how he shed light on previous training methods they focused on like the Soviet and Bulgarian systems. He seems so cool, really loved this interview. THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR CONTENT!! 🤙🤙
oh, wow! he seems like such a nice guy! from the videos of him with lu, tian and the boys, i always thought of him as a super strict, serious, kinda angry looking coach. totally changed my perspective!
Kind of enlightening to hear that people trained harder back then but that doesn't necessarily translate to better gains. If anything it can detriment the strength gains. This helps reinforce my own motto of training smarter not harder.
Looking forward to the rest of the interview. You can definitely sense his experience and genuine nostalgia. Even though today's Chinese Oly atheletes suffer so much, it really puts into perspective how much more he suffered during his training.
@@dddmiao As he mentioned in the video, they were training Soviet-Bulgarian style, basically trained until they can't move, much more injury rate than it is now. That's probably what the comment meant.
I am looking for a YT video of an interview of a Chinese coach in which he compares Chinese.vs. Soviet/Russian and other approaches. It was maybe 4-5 years ago. Pls respond below if you have link.
Why do you keep translating the clean pull as "deadlift"? Not just in this video but in otheres as well, when someone says "clean pull" you keep translating that into "deadlift" even though the 2 are different.
Cuz in Chinese there are 2 ways to name it. "Clean pull" for "窄拉“,or "weightlifting deadlift" for "举重式硬拉” which consists of "clean pull"(窄拉) and "snatch pull"(宽拉). Generally speaking, "deadlift" includes "powerlifting deadlift" and "weightlifting deadlift".
example as to why you shouldnt follow "types of training" blindly I.e. bulgarian/soviet/chinese style, he gave example that early Chinese weightlifting followed soviet training style and it wasnt applicable to to there "physical condition" meaning there physical structer/build so he couldnt transfer his strength over into the lifts, your technique and training style should be centered around your physical build.
No matter how much you talk you could never build a method as ABAJIEV METHOD. No match by PRC in CLEAN AND JERK. BULGARIAN TEAM WOULD BEAT PRC TEAM. 182 AT 60 200 AT 67.5 215 AT 75 225 AT 82.5 230 AT 90
“You kids don’t know how good you have it these days”

Omg, Coach Yu deadlifted 300kg, back squat 280kg and front squat 250kg at 100kg, real powerhouse back in the days

I second this, although if he could put the pinyin translation in the description it would be even more helpful

OORRRR, today PEDs are better and more accessible
yeah and also if you train all the time ull just get injured, especially if u are on gear u cant sustain the stress
4:15 strictly speaking Coach Yu said he clean pulled 300kg. That's even more impressive than deadlift 300kg!
Pulled = a full straight back, that's just crazy
Please post more like this and that other video you posted today! This content is so good for the culture
Can’t wait to see the rest of it!

That's Li Hanhua, otherwise known as Gigachad, before he cut and returned his hair to its natural colour. Man is indeed YOKED.

Why do you keep translating the clean pull as "deadlift"?
Not just in this video but in otheres as well, when someone says "clean pull" you keep translating that into "deadlift" even though the 2 are different.
probably because there's still a lot of people that can't distinguish the difference between a "clean pull" and the "deadlift".

In panda pulls like at 3:22 how do you not hit your chin?
哥,提个建议,八一的话翻成the August First更好一些
What exercise is 窄拉? Deadlift from a clean position? I'm trying to learn Chinese but I still have a long way to go.
Not deadlift but clean pull
Ying la is not deadlift meh
wow
my english is not great but did i get it right? Did he said diet was better back then or its better now ?
he said national team diet is better than provincial team。
