Am I the only one who got Goosebumbs at 5:32 min when Tian Tao looks at his achievements?! It‘s an unimaginable feeling for normal People to look at something like your own World Champion Trophy… Thank you for the Content!
Aw man, it almost made me cry as well when he looked at the board as the pride figurehead of the school. He can be very proud of himself for his achievments and i wish him the best to succeed in Paris. Smooth Journey Tian!
Amazing production quality, feels like watching a professional documentary (the English translation at 5:48 do be kinda sussy tho xD). Damn I feel so motivated rn I'm gonna go grab my powerlifting bar, learn this thing and see ya on the platform in Paris, Tian 😆😆
Came back to watch this before the comp this Saturday. This short film let me see a part of the world that I otherwise would not know existed. Thank you! No matter what happens this Saturday I’m oddly proud of Tao, even though I don’t know him. It’s kinda weird to me that I’m a 30yo guy from Seattle WA and I’m wholeheartedly cheering for a Chinese weightlifter.
Dude this was actually really emotional to see. Glad Tian's made it to the top. Not sure with the weight class changes and injuries if he has another shot.
Thanks Yang for this Tian Tao video. There is a lot of positive energy in this video, although the music and editing is a little sad at the end. Hope to see Tian Tao and Rostami at Paris 2024.
One day i would love to train in china at any one of these olympic lifting gyms im currently 21 and started olympic lifting in june im still a beginner but in due time technique and strength will get better💯
Unfortunately, the best you can do is seminars for a few days. These are state run schools which only train hand selected Chinese talent. Very few Chinese commercial weightlifting gyms exist.
@@tfwwhennofitlitgf3300 dam i see it would be very difficult to find a gym although seminars are good im goin to my first one on Jan 9th here in california . If anything prolly the only facility that IK of who will prolly let me train there is venus weightlifting and thats it for now hopefully covid is cured and maybe camps can open up again soon in china💯
Tian Tao es definitivamente una leyenda, muchas gracias por el documental definitivamente estuvo increíble y muy emotivo Gracias YANG por él documental y esta página también
This is why China can always produce large amount of Olympic level weightlifters, their weightlifting and table tennis culture is equivalent to the basketball culture in USA.
It's really not at all equivalent. I'm Chinese American and I grew up here in the US and Guangdong (I went back and forth a lot as a kid). In the US, every single school, from elementary school to high school, had a basketball court and everyone played at one point or another. There was a lot of reach and it was readily available, which means talent was EVERYWHERE to be scouted. In China, just like the US, weightlifting is not at all accessible. Most schools, just like the US, did not have barbells and weights and coaches readily available. The "meathead" stereotype in the US is even worse in China. I would compare it more to fencing. It's a niche sport that very few schools have, and only a select few get to try it. It's hard to scout for, and the talent you DO find, mostly comes from a certain class of people. For weightlifting, it's usually poorer rural folks, and for fencing, it's usually richer folks. (I did both in school, I was lucky that my public high school had a fencing program, and my university had a weightlifting program)
TT is the national sport and there were 3 million participants in the senior WC when they held it in China around 2008 (the qualification rounds took 3 years). Usa has many sports in different areas but TT will always be the no 1 in all of China. Weight lifting, badminton, shooting and diving for example have that professionalism, but weight lifting is not done by millions naturally since it is not "fun activity" for the average working class folks and the barrier to compete is high.
Thought he retired after not being selected for the Olympics. Not sure if it was his injuries but I thought it was because of his high inconsistencies and competitive weight class.
Unfortunately tian tao looks like he won't compete in paris which is very unfortunate for him because he suffered a shoulder injury which caused him to get surgery.
@@MultiPain101 bruh Lu would get destroyed by tian Tao at 89. Lu didn't get stronger going up from 77 to 81 coz 77 was his ideal weight class. 89 is tian Taos ideal weight class
These kids would have a better core if they tried the movements slow. I just watched a world record holder and he says this. Also pull hard and push hard. What do I know? Im not a trainer or lifter, just a fighter.

Sounds like Paris unfortunately is a no go
Beautiful film, brought a tear to my eye, especially the shot of Tian looking up at his entry on the wall :')
those barbells are crustier than the ones we had on the ship on deployment. respect
this shit made me teared up, damn what a journey for all those athletes.
Extremely motivating video for small weight lifting school! Greetings from Bulgaria 🇧🇬
I have never admired other weightlifter as much I admired Tian Tao, He deserve so much in this sport I am rooting for him. Always.
Thicc Tao has inspired us all over the world! 田涛加油!#paris2024
coming back to this video after hearing of his retirement just hits different. He along with lu inspired me to try out olympic weightlifting
the outro regarding him not being able to go to the Tokyo Olympic games and still not giving up on his olympic dreams crushed me

Tian Tao competing in Paris 2024 needs to happen. I hope he can stay healthy and that China selects him to the team.

A fan of this fisherman!
Much love from India. I hope he comes back. Man got me interested in weightlifting
Wow this film was amazing, thank you!!

Beautiful film Yilin, really a fantastic job.
he is china, asian, world champion, youth world record holder and olympic games silver medalist, I say he had great career so far
Tian Tao’s personality seems very light-hearted and lively!

Nice 👍🏾👍🏾 good shyt homie. Wish I woulda known about this sport as a kid
good film! wished it was not a short. if tao wasn't injured, who would've lost the Olympic spot instead of him?
Happy to read he’s still competing for Paris
What a wholesome video
paris 2024 is getting close and I really hope to see him pulling something spectacular off
I think he will win the new 89kg category in Paris.
That is if Lu doesn't move up in weight
