Your theory sounds good, except the oil analysis consistently indicates 10% to 13% fuel dilution shortly after a regeneration cycle. Ford advises to take the oil sample after a few hundred miles to give time for the fuel to evaporate. I don't know how it gets by the process you describe but the fuel dilution is a real problem. The 2012 or maybe 2013 GM Duramax has added a 9th injector in the DPF to eliminate the fuel dilution.

Theres no way a diesel regeneration will put about 1-2 quarts of diesel in the oil. The diesel is injected on the exaust stroke. The fuel inector sprays the fuel under really right pressure 25,000-32,000 PSI and there is already a flame in the combustion chamber so its just adding more fuel to it to raise EGTs to burn the particulate matter out of the DPF. If the injector is spraying fuel into an already burning flame not much of the fuel is going into the oil pan

Yea it can dump that much diesel in the engine. My friend is a diesel tech at one of the largest dealerships in the south and they have lots of turbo failures and oil issues on the 6.6.

Hi, have a question. Amsoil developed metric 15w50 for my motorcycle. As they stated in the video Dominator 15w50 is signature series and should be a higher performance oil, am I right? Couldn’t I use Dominator instead of Metric in normal driving conditions?

You can use Dominator 15W-50 in your motorcycle.

Ricardo, sorry for the delay, you are OK but I would switch to Amsoil 5W-30 DHD Max Duty Diesel Oil.

I am currently using amsoil signature series in my 2006 Chevy Avalanche. Why is it that it's NOT recommended that I use the signature series in my stock 2005 Mazda RX-8? I really would like to know what harm would it cause. I know the Amsoil web site recommends the XL but I would like to use the best you got. Please help...

My understanding is that synthetics don't burn off during combustion and will cause the spark plugs to foul.

Actually, Amsoil synthetic burns clean and will not fowl your spark plugs.

I think you have a rotary engine. Rotary engines are designed to use oil. Mazda intentionally recommends less expensive oils to avoid the higher cost. Amsoil sticks with this in recommending the less expensive XL and OE oils.

Dan is right. Had 2 1990 fleet used ford's e350 vans with over 200,000 miles. One burned oil the other didnt. Started to use Amsoil full syn signature series in both. The one that burned oil would burn Amsoil more slowly but it exhaust stunk more than normal Pennzoil. So with Amsoil I would loose 1 quart every 2 weeks. With Pennzoil it was 1.3 quarts every week. At the time XL/Oe didn't exist. So I switched back to Pennzoil because it was $0.85 cents a quart Amsoil at the time was selling at 6 bucks a quart with perfected membership status This was in 2001. I bought it by the gallon. I was able to get another 30,000 miles out of the oil eater because initial oil change was Amsoil refilled with Pennzoil. I was able to get a good price as a parts truck because the transmission was full ATF Amsoil and the mechanic who bought the truck said the transmission looked and shifted like new. Rotary engines always need a little oil burn off. Signature Series is not a good idea because it doesn't like to burn off. It may create uneven pressure burn off and in my opinion... it smells bad when burned off. I think OE would work wonders for your engine may be XL. I don't know how the new Pennzoil parfin base stocks have changed in the last 15 years. So I couldn't recommend thoes. I only use Amsoil Atf, Gear lube and oils in combination with Redline MTL/GL5 only. My Ford, Subaru, Audi, and Toyotas thank me every time I drive them! PS I still use 30W Pennzoil in my lawnmower, if that means anything😊

So the signature series is not recommended for European cars?

gooden000 no you use the European formula.

The Signature Series oils can and do meet most all of the ACEA spec's. The problem is making sure your particular vehicle is one that the Sig Series meets. Amsoil has researched all requirements for various Euro Cars and produced a line of oils (European Oils) to make this easy. If you want to use a signature series oil just contact me danwatson@thelubepage.com and I will verify if the signature oil meets your particular spec. In Europe there are 5 levels of oils and in the USA there is one API rating.
