My name is Anthony Fantano. I'm 37years old. I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser. Then a honey almond body scrub. And on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then apply an herb mint facial mask, which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine while listening to Hopsin. I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. There is an idea of a Anthony Fantano, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me. Only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our life styles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

I don't have ADHD and this video has honestly been slightly demotivating. He is the third highly productive youtuber that I watch, who turned out to have ADHD. This makes me think that being neurodivergent might be the true key to productivity... I hope that I'm wrong though.

    • @gwen6622

@@SchlegelSchlingel no way dude, adhd is a disability, no question. he is able to put this much effort in because it's something he's really passionate about, but i assume that he, like me, would struggle in almost any other job lol. if i'm following my whims and doing things that i love, i can do a million things at a time. but if not... it's almost physically painful. adhd is caused by our brains not producing enough dopamine, so we need to squeeze every last drop of dopamine we can find out of anything we can. if i didnt have this issue, i could do a lot more.
rather than be jealous of us or admire us for adhd or whatever, i think most of us would just prefer if you understand where we're coming from and cut us some slack sometimes lol. shit's hard. sometimes it's even hard to focus on things that we love, just cause... idk... life isnt fair. seriously, if fantano can do stuff like this, you definitely can too.

I was always curious about how you balanced everything, especially when you're so consistent. I'm trying to balance music reviews, Twitch streams, and art/drawing and it's EXHAUSTING. I get burnt out quite often, and it kinds sucks seeing things that I used to enjoy start being the source of some of my negative mental health. I never got tested yet but I also suspect I'm on the ADHD spectrum, from hyper-focusing on something only to just be blatantly uninterested in it or it starts feeling like a chore very quickly. I feel like the years that I spent in retail not being able to focus on my passions also made me kinda jaded lmao.

You’ve really expanded my music taste with your reviews and have helped me discover artists I would’ve never heard. So I want to give a genuine thanks for how hard you work and how consistent you are with content on both your channels. I can really tell your passionate about music and want to give honest, non biased critiques, even if they’re unpopular opinions you stand by them. It’s really appreciated.

The point about giving up as soon as you hit the learning curve is insanely important. I'm ADHD as hell and have meandered away most of my life so far under this impression I'm just awful at everything I do, because I never really developed meaningful skills growing up. Any attempt as an adult has always been met with severe feelings of inadequacy, but the fact is that people accomplish things they set out to do every day, and unless you're aiming for things that are genuinely unrealistic and difficult to do for even very competent people, you're probably capable of whatever it is you're trying to accomplish.
I'm kinda starting to get my act together though, and the biggest contribution has honestly been practicing basic mindfulness, as obvious as it may seem to some people. Examining the way I think about things, I've realized that I wrap pretty much every thought I have about anything up with negativity, minor or major. Even waking up and saying to myself "I feel like shit, fuck today" is insanely harmful to me, and may be for others as well. Maybe you do, and I certainly do often, but what good does it do to say? Even at my absolute most depressed moments, nothing has ever forced me to wake up and and feed my negativity in trivial ways like that, that's all me. It's hard to do, because negativity is a habit to me at this point, but I try to wake up and Identify why I feel that way, and it's usually not even that serious. If I wake up feeling sore and groggy, which I usually do, that's not the same as feeling like shit. That's just being sore and groggy, which aren't feelings that should warrant me starting my day with abject negativity, you know? They're not great feelings to have in the morning, but I'm finding that doing things as simple as adjusting how I react to minor things makes my days just a little more tolerable.
I think it has unfortunately become ingrained in our culture to feed and acknowledge minor negativity as much as we can, even broadcast it, not that I can even really blame anyone for it with the state of the world. But for me at least, continuing to do that is only going to make my life worse. It's hard to make it a habit, and I still let it get to me sometimes, but fifteen years of therapy and meds were less useful to me than doing this, so I'm convinced that for me it's worth it. I made the negativity a habit over more than a decade, I can certainly make positivity a habit if I try, that sorta thing.
I'm actually investing myself into the things I want to learn how to do now, and I'm not great, and I won't be for a long time, but I've had my fill of failure, you know? Not trying at all is easier day-to-day, but it's insanely damaging long-term. Shit's hard, man. I hope more people start to prioritize their mental health.

I have ADHD too, but I don't have meds for it and I have so many problems focusing on things I need to do. I've tried to use tips from other people to work around it, but I've not been very successful. I'm easily overwhelmed by the backlog of stuff I need to do, and I feel like I don't even know how to prioritize what is important.

just found out i have adhd after 28 years. finally understanding that hyper focus thing and confused it for thinking i can focus in general... nah im ass at paying attention to anything outside of what im passionate or intensely curious about. >_> alot of shit would've been easier when i was younger if i knew, and had addy or anything to help attention wise.

I shit on you a lot for not reviewing certain albums (tbf, it’s from a good place still IMO, you *do* miss out on a lot of amazing and popular/famous albums just because they’re foreign) but I always still do appreciate how hard you do work on this stuff. There’s always room for improvement, but that goes for everyone and everything, but I still always appreciate how hard you *do* work regardless.
