Nope. I’d section it in. Cutting out the real structure points down from the a-pillar that supports the hinge area where the door hangs is a lot more intrusive than just sectioning in a piece of the rocker. Less work. less intrusive. Just as good. 👍🏻👍🏻

I own 3 of the cars he has fixed and now have a great understanding of what is involved should I ever have the misfortune incurring such damage. 2015 RR Wraith, 2017 S65, 2015 911 Turbo S. Could you please share the repair costs? (a range would be helpful.)
Nice work on that rocker panel, cutting a piece off was the best result. Much less body filler and it looks super sweet. Can't wait for the second part.👍🏼
Vlad, if this was my Porsche and you guys were repairing it, I would go with what you feel is best in the repairs. I have seen enough of your videos to know you and your crew do quality repair and when done no one will know where the repairs were made. Yup. Leaving the original structure in place is best. Factory is better. Its just a clean skin repair.

Sectioning that rocker was definitely the way to go. Bit surprised when you started to try an pull out the damage😣😣
My first reaction was how bad is the damage underneath the rocker skin. The outer panel being purely cosmetic. You got lucky ( or bought wisely!) and got minor inner damage. I think your repair will be fine as the car was still fully ‘true’ on the chassis jig. I’d be interested to know if the inner rocker was the same metal as the outer. Or if it was a boron steel section as repairing that is a more serious decision.

Hi Martin,
It helps to bring everything back into alignment. So after the cut out section is removed, the mating surfaces are in the same plane or square. Often you will see builders pulling on and around large damaged areas (that obviously cannot be saved) before removing the majority of the damaged area and replacing it.

Thought you were going to just overlap then mud it (never get the rocker straight) but butting it like that.... I said..... ahhhhhh yes! So your doing this car for a subscriber then? Did they purchase the wrecked car from the auction or did you guys? Curious?

I see that you replaced the middle piece of the door sill frame as well. Solid choice. All three layers are structural and that middle layer was too bent to ever have structural integrity.
