Awesome CD bargain there, Alan, congrats! “Show no Mercy” is definitely the king of your haul. It was only last week I came across and snatched a South Korean pressing of Diamond Head’s “Am I Evil” compilation album. It was a surprising find, and as you said, just too neat an item to leave there, so I acted as I was supposed to :)
More cool finds, as usual. I’ve especially enjoyed seeing your CD pickups. Anybody who shows both Confessor and Anacrusis in the same video is cool with me. Speaking of Anacrusis, what a great, underrated band. But, man, they had some terrible album covers. I don’t think that did them any favors during their career. Anyway, keep up the great work. I know you're right about the "big" Dark Star song being Lady of Mars, but the one that always gets stuck in my head is Captain America. Next time you listen to Born Again, try to put out of your mind that it's "Black Sabbath", and pretend it's a one and done private press from a nobody band. It would be a $300 record if it were, and people like you and me would be telling our audience that it's one of the expensive ones that are actually worth it!
Nice haul sir! At the moment you can get great deals buying CDs, let´s see if this will change like it did with the vinyl records about 15 years ago. I´m glad I still have my old Viking records, I love their debut. They did a reunion album a couple of years ago but it´s not very good although it has Gene Hoglan and the old Dark Angel bass player... I have a Korean version of Kreator´s "Renewal". The original has "Legalize Mariuhana" written on the back, that´s been removed from the Korean one, hahaha...
I've always loved Born Again. Headless Cross I had to give that album a second chance recently. The first time I heard it was 1996 and didn't like it then but now I own it. Slayer rules forever!!!

Love that Dark Star! thanks for the reminder, I have honestly forgot about it. Just showed that Flotsam and Jetsam CD, I honestly like it because the of the bad production haha. Never understood why people punches holes in the records or CD covers. Great update Alan.
Thanks Steve! Yeah, I always thought cut-outs were a weird way for a store to mark things in the sale bin. They couldn't just put a different price tag on them? Were they really that afraid of someone peeling a sale price tag off a sale item and putting it onto a regular-priced item?
@@stevesekora I did that once. A store had cassette copies of the dirty version of SKID ROW 'Slave to the Grind' in the sale bin. I bought all the copies, then sold them to my high school friends at full price :D

Im not surprised people were buying less and cd sales were up. Vinyl prices have just about hit their ceiling in my opinion. You can almost buy 3 cds to one vinyl now. Depending on the titles. However, cds are going up a lot too. New ones anyway. Im spending on average 20 plus a cd. Keep in mind a lot of these are imports and I’m incorporating shipping costs as well. 5 dollars on average are what people are charging to ship a cd. So I try to buy them in at least 3s or more. Rock Candy is a label that has been around for a while. A great label that has reissued countless amounts of 70s and 80s hard rock, glam, AOR, and metal. A lot of the old Atlantic/Atco titles that were never re released by that big label. That Overkill Under the influence reissue that Darcy was hyping? That’s a Rock Candy reissue.
Thanks for the info on Rock Candy. While I don't like seeing CD prices creep up I can't complain too much- they've been around $15 for decades. But the vinyl price increase has been crazy; I rarely even look at new-release vinyl anymore. Like you said, I can get 2-3 cds for the same price.
I've been listening to that Dark Star a lot lately, Lady of Mars was my summer anthem back in 2017, hahaha. I swear, you can play that song at my funeral! The Show No Mercy press is interesting, I have a South Korean press of Soldier of Sunrise, which is also from 1993! I think you see that more often with foreign presses in SK. I have a lot of actual South Korean metal records, they have some fantastic stuff! Have you ever heard of any?
In the UK fairs I attend there seems to be a proliferation of bootlegs for all genres - both of live albums and officially released albums - and a lot of cheap (but largely undesirable) vinyls. Typically not much metal. It does appear that the US fairs seem to have more metal - but of course that could be because our community only really visits fairs they know are good for metal !
Haha, I've always loved Born Again. It was kind of the last of the great Sabbath albums for me. That South Korean Slayer is too cool. I've got the brown label Metal Blade version as well. @letstalkmetal Cut-outs were just a way of life. Half price was a great thing when money was tight. I don't mind seeing them as long as it's a clean cut or drill hole. I'll send you a Pic of my Diamond Head 'Borrowed Time' LP. It's the most bizarre cut-out I've ever seen.

I recently read a review of "Under Jolly Roger" by Running Wild though in the German Metal Hammer from 1987, in which it received such a bad rating that they basically declared the band's career to be over and literally said that they had shot their bolt with it. Absolutely cringeworthy how the German Metal press at the time was sometimes wrong, because just one or two albums later, the same people suddenly started celebrating the band as if they were the greatest thing that had ever come out of this country.
LOL that's interesting about the UJR review. TO this day some people refuse to play that album b/c of the pirate costumes :( I can deal with the production on BA but it is weird.
