Paul, I watched this video a few weeks ago, and thought "no way...I can't do that!". I've been painting, and practicing using your tutorials, and today it didn't look so scary. I tried it, and I'm actually really pleased with how it came out. Thank you. You've taught me the skills, and given me the confidence, to go for it!
I am a beginner and this tutorial is fantastic! I tried it and was pleased with the results (except I did it on cheap 98 lb paper). But now I think I have the confidence to move up to 140 lb paper without feeling like I'm wasting good paper. I ordered your book and am eagerly awaiting its arrival in a couple of days. Please keep up the good work. You are a great teacher! Also I enjoy the humor.
Hi Paul, I’ve just retired and am about to embark on my life long dream to paint water colour. I’ve been searching RUclips for help in technique and approach and by chance have come upon your series of videos. Wow! This is everything I have been looking for; your easy step by step guide is giving me exactly what I need to fulfill my dreams. Having not painted for the past 20 or so years, I have surprised myself with my first attempt at this simple landscape. You have me motivated and keen to follow your other videos and of course to grab your book! Thank you again Paul. Mark from Sydney Australia
Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial on rough paper. After a few previous attempts on rough paper I was very discouraged. But after following your example I am very happy with the result,
Oh, I just did this, and it turned out so well! Thanks Paul :) I had a little break from watercolour and played with some other mediums, and just needed a good painting to get my confidence back. This did the trick! I didn't have any Paynes Grey, but mixed VD Brown with Prussian blue - near enough.
Thank you Paul. Debby from Montana is going to try this. I painted your beach cottage painting with the fence in it. I don't have a rigger brush so decided I didn't dare mess it up at that point as I didn't feel any of my brushes would be able to give me that fine of a line so just opted for a small boat on shore. I have had lots of good feed back so for only painting less than 3 months I'm encouraged to continue. Thank you again.
I really am enjoying your generous tutorials for us beginners - I have learned so much already and look forward to continuing to learn. Thank you for your time and effort in providing these demonstration tutorials!

I get too tense when l concentrate so l appreciate the laughs and extremely thorough presentation, including helpful info on why different colours act differently due to varying sediments, etc. Edit: as this tutorial proceeded, l was stunned by how meticulously you explain things. Thank you so much. Your videos are a pleasure to watch and very informative. Your cheery and positive manner is encouraging. I have learned some very helpful techniques.
