Limitanei (limi-tah-neigh) were troops on the borders, the "limits". It was more of a army command term since you could have limitanei cavalry or missile troops or whatever. They are also went out of use for most of this game's time period. They could have called those spearmen "skoutatoi" or "shieldcarrier" which would have made more sense.
Aussie Drongo's comment section slowly but surely gaslighting itself into believing that Drongo mispronouncing words is just the Australian dialect

With all these aditions, new variants etc. Where does vanilla factions stand? Like the Rus, English etc. ? Drongo could you maybe make a video about pros/cons on vanilla civs vs their variant counterparts?
I wouldn't be surprised if the new stuff was overtuned (to incentivize people playing with it) and then nerfed to be in line with others. That's how most MOBAs do things I think.

That destroyed value was so out of balance, 110k for Vald and 64 for Beasty. The olive oil units don't count towards it, it seems. Bu the efficiency of the Byzantines is crazy good.

A Byzantine late game focused on mercenaries is very strong because it allows a Byzantine player to leverage the mercenary system to hire what are otherwise gold-intensive units to overwhelm an opponent without having to rely on gold income. The versatility of the mercenary contracts and the artillery available from the Foreign Engineering Company will make for a potent force with which to attain victory without paying a single penny.

I've watched 3 or 4 casted games with the new civs and I'm confused about Beasty's strategy. He seems to be shooting for 150-160 vills in most games and seems to just leave the siege equipment unprotected quite often.
Very one dimensional player who capitalizes on his micro harass and I bet you we'll see him exposed as the game mechanics get more complicated and civs get way more ways to play with no certain meta. As was the case with aoe2, he was never even decent at that game. I always thought he's overrated in a new game that doesn't have much variety to its strategic part (yet).

this looks stronger than it kinda is ... if beasty when for a more infantry heavy army the spears would not have been able to hold, but because its the ayyubids and alot of camels and cavalry, he kinda got away with it xD

Ayyubids doesn't feel as much as a variant as it does an upgrade to the Abbasid civ
The combinations of a late game Byzantine army combining Varangians , Cataphracts and elephants is at least scary. There is nothing in the game that can win it.
A good rule of thumb is to always pronounce these ancient word simply as written, with a latin accent structure (basically putting the accent where it would make the word flatter).
LIMI like in limit, TA like in tarots, NEI like in Neighbour. The accent is on the A.

its just marketing, i'm highlighting a strategy, but most people wouldn't click on it if i just wrote "a basic strategy for byzantines that is fun"

The Byz have made late game gold irrelevant. Last 15 minutes of the game Beast had 2500+ gold more per minute and still lost. Incredible.
